JoeS Presents:
TEST YOUR MIGHT IV!

The Venue has held up to 200 in the past and we have no cap on people. It is in a massive plaza with plenty of food in walking distance and with concessions at a decent price within the store as well, so you'll be virtually set all day. The TYM II had 44 Brawl singles entrants, 32 Brawl Doubles entrants and 20 Melee Singles entrants.

-WE'RE STILL ON.

-There will be online registration for events, if you register online the venue fee is only $4 and if you don't it is $5. (Fee will be reduced to $4 if you sign up for ANY EVENT).

You can sign up at the Cold Fusion website. (That's the link, click it) and as long as your name is on any of those events on the tournament date (except the Lock-in) you'll have your venue fee reduced. However if you can sign up for everything you'll be planning on entering in that'd be good so the estimate is more accurate. Also if you sign up and you decide not to enter, I'm not going to hunt you down or force you to enter.

NOTE: For the CFLC Registration you don't actually need to put in an e-mail address, it's just for if it somehow gets cancelled they would have e-mailed you to let you know, but we have this thread instead. So you can just put any fake e-mail address you want.[/size]

-Venue Waives for setups!
I finally worked something out and those bringing their stuff can get a little cash for lending a hand to make the tournament run smoothly. On the CFLC site there is registration for bringing setups, if there's something I missed let me know. Waives are given on a first come first serve basis, so register early because I can only waive a total of $50. Also the waive will only be rewarded if what is brought is actually used and you remain for the duration of the entire tournament. (I will try to work with people if they really want to/need to go and we don't need the set up, I'll figure something out, just talk to me) The Waive system will work as so:

Wii with Brawl (Everything Unlocked obviously): $3

T.V. (15" or larger): $2 (I'll be liberal with size, if it's usable it's good in my book but you only get the money if we use it)

Gamecube with Melee (Everything Unlocked obviously): $0 >_< (If there is cash left over from the $50 waive limit I will distribute the cash $2 each or evenly between those who brought the setups and were used)

Melee CD: A hug with much appreciation.

All of this is subject to change within the next week or so, also the registration may change to a different date so If the date changes you WILL HAVE to re-register. Keep checking back for changes.

PAID IN CASH ON THE SPOT

Brawl Rules and Format:

* 3 Stock Double Elimination

* 8 minute timer

* Items are set to "off" and "none"

* Bring your own controller

* All matches prior to Winners' and Losers' Finals are best of 3. Winners', Losers', and Grand Finals are best of 5

* The Stage Strike system will be used and explained for the first match of all sets, then after procedure is loser stage pick, winner character choice, loser character choice.

* In the event of a dispute, controller ports will be selected by Rock-Paper-Scissors

* Dave's Stupid Rule: No player may choose a stage they have already won on in that set unless agreed upon by both players.

* In team matches, the ports will be determined in a 1221 fashion; whoever wins the RPS will choose first, then the opposing team will get their ports, and then the teammate of the RPS winner will get the last port.

* If the timer runs out, the victor is determined first by stock and then by percentage.

* Metaknight's Infinite Cape glitch is banned.

* Port slob picks: On a player's counterpick, that player may opt to redo the port selection process with that player or team picking their port first.

* Wiimotes and Classic Controller users should know to take the batteries out of their controllers after finishing a set; not only will this save battery life, but it prevents accidental intereference and delay for tournament matches.

* The Mages DQ rule: After a match has been called, if a player is two minutes late he will receive a warning. At 4 minutes late, he will be given a loss for the first game of the set. After six minutes, he will be given a loss of the entire set.

* If a game ends with Bowser doing his suicide klaw and it ends in sudden death, the sudden death will be ignored and that game will count as a win for Bowser.

* Any action that can prevent the game from continuing (i.e., freezing, disappearing characters, game reset, etc.) will result in a forfeit of that match for the player that initiated the action.

* Stalling is banned. Any legal infinite chain grabs most end quickly after 300% has been reached so as to prevent excessive stalling.

* I am NOT to be held liable for your horsing around, if someone is injured or there is some form of altercation I am not responsible for either party.

* Drugs and Alcohol are prohibited.

* Life Stealing is allowed

So I wrote that eulogy for nothing!? Anyway, I hope I can improve enough to break 500 by that time... Even if I don't go home with any money, I'd like to finish at least 3-2 at a tourney for once... I swear I'm like cursed or something... :p

Still melee? I haven't played brawl in ages
Good stuff 4%. I haven't played standard brawl since.... well last time I entered at test your might, which was the first one I think. I would so try to come to this if there was melee.

I played brawl+ for the first time today though. It was a ton more fun than brawl. Not as fun as melee, but still pretty fun with combos and edgeguarding and nerfed shielding. :p

I've actually wanted to try out brawl+. I'll come to this to play some melee and stuff, but if someone brings a brawl+ setup I would love to play

I'll be bringing Brawl+ with my haxed Wii so, anyone that wants to try it let's try and have some friendlies before/after the Brawl tourney. :) It'll have the latest and most up to date code set by March 7th, I'll make sure of that.

I actaully had FUN playing brawl plus. Especially when my friend got bowser on random and I got fox on random.... I literally 0-deathed him with dair-utilt, lol. Because now the utilt combos back into the dair... It only really works well on bowser though. And I have a feeling my friend wasn't DIing the best either.

I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to take it seriously like I do melee though. And by seriously I mean practicing to the point that it starts making me worse, lol.

Anyway, Falco00, you're SFG's one friend, aren't you?

Yeah, we're going to be coming to this one hopefully. B+ is fun as hell, SFG played it at my house two weeks ago and got some good **** with CF (who is sooo good again with hitstun, much <3). I'm looking to get everybody to crowd around the B+ set up lulz.

I actually made a highlight video of that day too (some of it is pretty okay, most of the stuff SFG does with CF is epic though). You can see that here if you're curious: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcKIYn4YJyI

It'll most likely be brawl singles and doubles with melee singles, more details as I get free time.

As far as competing with the Midwest circuit, the distance between TYM and the circuit event is about 5 hours if i'm not mistaken and it's not even confirmed yet. I really have nowhere else to put the tournament, it's not a matter of spite or wanting to compete with the midwest circuit it's just the fact that I don't have a choice. TYM always runs well in attendance regardless if OoS or Cincy come, I'm pretty **** sure we'll still get a good attendance and have a great tournament regardless.

Anymore questions?

Maybe running Melee before Brawl would get more people to enter, since most people just leave after Brawl , so there's hardly anyone to enter Melee.

Also Brawl+ is so much fun!

I used him for awhile, he was OK... nothing too exciting though. He's basically Luigi 2.0 with such a long range projectile and lives longer. But, srsly, Argent you should try B+ when it's there. Maybe you'd like Lucario in it even moar. (I haven't used him personally in B+).

Dangit, I haven't missed a single TYM even when they used to be held in bedford heights... I really wanna go to the midwest circuit event instead though....

We'll see what happens, hopefully the midwest event gets moved or cancelled or something so I can make it to both. If I do go it'll definitely be me, probly kyosh, i might pick up argentstew, ridlr is a possibility, BYAA/Dead are possibilities and maybe someone from Akron U as well.

IF I do go, I'll probably bring a full car like always.

Also, for the 21st that's love's last stand in OUGA so probly shouldn't have it then either.

Y not the 14th or 21st?

Also, I wanna MM nojoes again.

IMO, any mod of Brawl is tainted... I really don't see why some people have become so fixated on making it more like Melee... Melee was awesome and all, but now we have two distinct kinds of Smash and it's nice... But, ya know, I try to keep an open mind to stuff, so it's worth a try I guess... :p

We're not making it like Melee. We're making it what makes a SMASH game competitive. All the things we've added to the game so far have been in ALL of them, no auto sweetspot ledges wasn't just in Melee, it was in Smash 64. Dash dancing wasn't just in Melee, it was in Smash 64. L/Z-canceling wasn't just in Melee, it was in Smash 64. Hitstun wasn't just in Melee, it was in Smash 64 (lulz, who wouldn't know this?) etc. etc. We don't use wavedashing or Melee Air Dodging, it's BAD (Brawl Air Dodge) so you can come back to the edge to avoid projectile spam (ala Din's Fire) and the whole wavedashing is just stupid in Brawl anyway (it doesn't suit it real well).

In the end, we're not making it like Melee. We're making it what makes SMASH games competitive. Making Brawl into a more competitive game than it already is! And, we're pretty successful so far. (*cough* No gay chaingrabs from DDD or Falco and MK isn't nearly as ******** as before *cough*).

Basically, yeah, you have to try it out before saying "blah, I dun liek it cuz it is maekn chaengs!"

blah, I dun liek it cuz it is maekn... ummmmm I don't like it cuz only a select few can practice it and it's a lot tougher to get setups for a tournament.

B+ sounds cool.

what would be sweet would be having both airdodges. like one trigger is melee airdodge, the other is non directional. that would be sick

I hope ya'll do show up though. :p

I think he was saying something like wavedashing isn't in cause it's gay and hitstun is like 8.3 or something. I can't remember too much and I haven't played his version of brawl +. Like I said earlier, I don't like it too much It'll make me worse than I already am at brawl normal.

My bad... I just like making excuses... In truth, I don't like seeing Brawl changed because it makes it harder for me to get practice than it already is... :p Seriously though, I have no one to practice against unless ITT isn't working and puts something together... Everyone else I know completely sucks or is uninterested... :(

Besides, I said I'm open to the idea so calm down... I suppose I shouldn't have opened up old wounds... Apparently, people still get defensive about the whole competitiveness of Brawl debate... :/

both of those dates conflict with other tournies... however I might go to this on the 7th due to an EXTREME lack of money.
