At the moment its spread out over 5 players in 3 states: Amaterasu, Attila, Cobalt, Shaya and Tibs. The problem is that they they've only played each other once or twice in tournament matches, so its very difficult to rank them.

In the last tournament in which four of them attended (where some of them played each other for the first time) the result was Tibs in first, Amaterasu second, Attila third and Shaya fourth. Cobalt wasn't there.

Tough to say whether those results indicate the actual rankings of the players though.

It's not a good thing to rank players, it can incite arguments by me lol.
Nah but seriously it's just not right to do, other people may get offended.
Like Djb only played Shaya at that tournament, who knows, he coulda beaten tibs and amaterasu if he played them.
It's to early to rank a best smasher not everyone has played everyone. And from what i've seen of those other players there nothing special about them.
How about this:
U can rank those players as best in the 'Eastern States'. But don't say the whole of Australia, as that is rediculous they havent played me, desert eagle or anyone from W.A. for that matter.
Remember the saying, there's always some better than u out there somewhere.

Imo there is no best smasher, there is no huge gap in skill levels like in America with M2K. All the best players are around the same skill level.

I was talking about the people generally accepted as the top few. Of course theres always the potential for a better player to be out there. But at the same time it would be strange to argue that some MK player that has never travelled outside their state is better than somebody like Dojo. Pics or it didn't happen, etc.

From what we've seen, those 5 appear to be at the top. Nothing more.

lol that's like exactly the same line of thought my brother has. If i travelled interstate i could be regarded as one of the best, but i am a bum and thus no one knows how i play. And no way am i gonna travel just for a video game.

I'll just say this in response. I disagree with who u regard as being the best. Just my opinion.

I just though of an idea. What do u guys think of making a thread for best of each character? Like Tcranter is pokemon trainer, i'm ganondorf, shaya is marth and desert eagle is fox etc?
It might get some people angry just as making a ranking of best brawler would though.

I'm pretty sure it's generally accepted/obvious who's the best with each character.

No one has ever outplaced me in a Brawl tournament as Marth, or actually taken out a set against me using Marth, I could almost claim I've never lost a marth ditto in a tournament either, but DEKAR GOTZ ME.

However, when it comes to some characters, such as Meta Knight (hell I can go reasonably even in MK dittos [but dittos aren't the be all end all] against Chris), Donkey Kong, etc etc, where there are multiple players across different regions, it gets really complicated. The best DK user on the eastern seaboard I would definitely believe to be FTS, but then there's a DK user in SA, how would I, or anyone else be able to discern this?

Unfortunately, as a whole, the Eastern States are a lot 'closer' in just about every single way possible than any of the states would be to SA or WA. And of course, it would be a **** fest. And it would also need to be all 'officially' done up, to follow power ranking rules crap (i.e. 5? or so members from the region are on a board who vote, discuss, etc, it's a lot of work).

Anyway, this discussion would be a lot better off in the Australian Smash Tournaments thread/Character rank list. As this topic directly applies to 'it', the best players of every character are obviously the ones who get top 8 with them. And if there's only ONE person, then it's obvious...

Thing that really annoys me is that he claims to be Australia's best Ganon player, but there's no way to really prove it, besides 1 tourney win.

The only reason the answer was even given is because it's only the east coast states going to genesis. Don't let this become a topic of coast debates. Australia isn't big enough for coast wars.

It doesn't exactly sound dumb, or 'outrageous', that the LARGEST sector, the place that generates the highest numbers (over all) in every single way, that the burden of proof should be to the one who's out to state they're better than someone in the LARGEST SECTOR. And Just about anyone 'good' in the Eastern States is well understood/known across the rest of the eastern states; meaning there are more numbers behind them to confirm credibility than you guys do.

I've vsed your Lucario Browny, if I were to see anyone else who played Lucario i'd be able to give a rough estimate of who would be better. Isn't that great though? It's because I've played you, just like I and several other regular travellers have (over all) that they can form an opinion based on 'proof' they've seen themselves.

The best Brawl Ganon i've played is tcranter, by the way, as much as I know of tcranter, I would be more truthful in my own opinion (based on what I've been able to see) that Toby is the best Ganondorf in Australia.
Because
a) I've played him (or other well known players have)
b) He's an exceptional player in general.
c) no one else in my scope (More of the Australian census than you/SA have) has been better.

I played all of melbs good foxes at stigma (at least i think I did) and my truthful opinion is that eagle from SA has the best fox. So who has to prove it now? Despite me actually having experience in both state's fox players, does the burden remain on SA? Not that i care, but i expect the answer is yes.

The main dealbreaker for me is whether or not the bus will be going past LAX or somewhere easily accessible from there. Since I fly in on the 9th, that could be troublesome. Conveniently, I land 6:45am local time, so I should be able to get to wherever within reasonable possibility.

I'm not too fussed with the route personally, it'll be more nostalgic than scenic for me anyways. But spectacularness > boringness fo sho. :3


Also not to steer the topic off slightly, but what's Australia doing in terms of lodging for Evo, and would it be possible to squeeze in an EA there somewhere? o:
