I haven't made custom taunts yet, but here's a set I might use:

^ "My work here is done..." (either for when I have to go, or just right at the end of a timed match, or when the last opponent loses his last stock)
< "Better luck next time." (for when I roflpwn someone, as rare as that may be.)
> "???" (see next taunt)
v "PROFIT!" ( :p )

(Left and Right combined right after I got smoked. Only between friends though or else people think I'm gonna quit. Otherwise I just use great game or Nice!).

Up: BLAME LAG (when someone SDs)
Down: Please Forgive Me (when I "unintentionally" edgehog)
Left: Target Eliminated (when I star KO)
Right: ROFLMAO (when something just plain random and funny as heck happens)

LEFT: NICE!?! (can be sarcastic or serious)

Right: Walmart: Open 24/7 (If I use this, someone either did something really stupid, or I'm irritated by my opponents playstyle.)
