This reminds me of the vague Smash ball update. Stating that it can only be used once after getting it.

Many took it literally and thought 'Only once in the ENTIRE match'. While others thought 'Only after getting the Smash Ball' well the Demo shows multiple Smash Balls in it. Plus Zero Suit Samus (who at the moment, can only be accessed after Samus' final smash) has her own Final Smash. So this can be taken both ways.

I dont care if its only five levels, I LOVE target test, and maybe each stage is a little different for each character, or the targets are in different places

Well 5 maps each for an estimated 40 characters?
That's 5x40=200.
200 different target maps.
I don't think they'd design that many.
They'd have to use doubles some how or something.
200 is just ridiculous.

i think its only 5 maps..because 5 for each chararcter is waaaay too much.... and since this smash is using many things from the original SSB64 ...do u think we get to play "board the platforms" again?? :psycho:

The update isn't clear at all on whether there are 5 maps or 5 per character. I am leaning towards just 5 because 200 maps would be an insane amount of memory.

I think the guy who said 5 maps with 5 difficulties each is right. Thats 25 maps which sounds reasonable. Makes the most sense to me at least, since 5 maps for each character would be hundreds of maps, that just sounds like way too many.

Its just not feasable for there to be 5 per character. I would would be kinda upset if they did when they could just use the time to create a new stadium mode or something because they would end up with upwards of 200+ target tests. Also I think that seperate records would be kept for each character on the five stages as to be fair to the slower characters etc...

Nintendo is a master in saving memory =)
We dont know how the bulding of the TT Stages works. There could probley recycling backgrounds and elements and using a Stage Editor. So they could easly build many diffrent stages in no time. Balancing would be the only problem ... but there working enough people on Brawl.

It was quite an ambiguous update. As usual, like with the final samsh. It could go either way, but when you think about it, it doesn't make sense to have 200+ maps, so yeah, there's prbly only 25.

They mean only 5 maps period. There are too many characters already to warrant each character getting 5 maps. Right now, 22 characters confirmed x 5 BTT maps= 110. See? There are too many characters for there to be 5 individual maps each.

Right behind you with a knife.
5 maps per character is more feasible than some may think. It doesn't mean that there is a complete overhaulf for each map, just more items for easier difficulties, and more obsticles for harder ones. It's not that difficult to implement. =/

It's 5. Just plain 5.

"Each of the five maps is distinctive." Gives it away.

This is not "all the maps", not "Each character's maps". It's just
"Each of the five maps".

Get over it.

EDIT: ...I read the dojo update a little closer and it's actually kinda worrisome. I hope it was a translating error.

If they recycled the 5 different maps, keeping the platforms and stage the same but changing the locations of the targets for each character, then the data containing each character's 5 Target Tests would probably take up less space than this post. The biggest disc space hog by far would be the 5 maps.

I like the fact you can accutally compare times accuratly between characters. But the uniquness of each one was good esp used as a sort of advanced tutorial of sorts to use techniques in creative wasy. There will be many ways though to tackle BTT but maybe some slight variation between characters? Oh well.

I just read the update.
It points to a 5 level BTT but with each level balanced to make it challenging for each character

This doesnt look like its metaknight Only.

But hey since its gonna be equally challenging for everyone no one will have an advantage

I hope

according to this, I believe there will be only five different maps, but each map will differ depending on a character

I think this means each character has five different maps with varying difficulty.

Could that be Meta Knights easy one?

I'm guessing we're only getting give generic maps for this.

And then perhaps we'll get character specific Board the Platforms challenges. :D

Maybe by maps they mean backgrounds. You know, every character has them targets positioned differently and have different obstacles, but they're have the same background. Maybe Background=Difficulty? Remember there's 5 difficulties.

Hmmm...I really don't care If there's only five or if each character has five, but I read it as each character has five. I'm sure there's going to be five different backrounds corresponding with the five difficulties. Also, many Break the Targets shouldn't take up THAT much space... BTW, I can't ever recall a videogame running out of space for development. Please enlighten me. If I'm right, we don't need to worry about space. (although I'm probably very wrong)

Ok I noticed one thing look at the color of the targets. And now look at this picture.

You can see that the colors match the colors of the targets. So the one Metaknight is playing on normal, DK is playing on easy, and Samus is playing on hard. And you can see that they each are different backgrounds and the ground and walls are different. My guess that the five maps are just simply the difficulities and the auctual map(the ground and walls) while the targets and ground will be rearranged to fit the players unique abilities.

So I was (kinda) right!!!!! Hadn't noticed the target colors.

Good news?
