Still don't buy Kos-Mos honestly, the list of nos aint as ludicrous as yesterday, and if Namco is a no, I don't see how she's somehow an exception
Verge and Sabi have conflicting sources, however, it's best not to put entire trust on both.

Speculation is basically annoying at this point lmao.

I am sitting here shocked that Nintendo met with Capcom to negotiate A RESIDENT EVIL SPIRIT EVENT but not a fighter for the fighter pass. A Capcom character is coming post pass. There has to be. But who it might be is the question.
I'm reeeeally banking on AA7 being announced soon, personally. Because otherwise, I do think that Dante takes it.

For a Namco rep. I would've preferred Reiji Arisu...
I'm personally in favor of The Prince of All Cosmos (no pun intended), no matter how irrational a desire that is.

For sure, there's always a grain of doubt, but I think they've proven to at least be worth entertaining their suggestions for now.

As I said even before the RE spirits, I'll be shocked if we end the whole DLC cycle without a single newcomer from them at the end.

Look on the bright side: at least we're not back to Wright vs. Dante vs. Everyone From Resident Evil
I think it was more like Dante was switched out for RE, since I didn't think he was THAT likely during the pass. And I'm honestly more worried about him than I ever was of RE. RE might be the more popular franchise, but as a individual character I think Dante has any RE character beat, by how iconic he is.

I actually have no experience with any Namco games besides their classic arcade games. So it's not possible for me to get hyped for any Namco rep. But I would be happy for their fans at least.

We still got that one text leak to fall back on. It's our last bit of evidence...

You know, KOS-MOS and Phoenix both confirmed for Smash?
That is going to be a banger AND a pipe dream. Shoild we get KOS-MOS, there's the leaks for Hayabusa, Reimu, Doom Slayer, and Geno in line. Haya and Reimu are pretty much locks for Season 2 if we do get her.

I dont understand how he got a "not sure" about KOS-MOS when he shut down Namco a week ago.

I'm honestly more worried about a random AA centered spirit events than pizza boy but I also want Dante so

Also, i'm back to my senses again. If KOS-MOS somehow gets in, Phoenix would still have a chance. Tough it really hurts really badly, since this time we had some hope for him... So i don't really know what to expect anymore...

...This might sound crazy, but what if this ends in a Banjo-Hero situation? You know, KOS-MOS and Phoenix both confirmed for Smash?
God, I wish. I am going to consider that there's a chance those 4chan leaks about Reimu/Hayabusa have at least some degree of repute if KOS-MOS is in, given how much of a long-shot guess she's been for most of the pass, but that would be delightful.

I dont understand how he got a "not sure" about KOS-MOS when he shut down Namco a week ago.
Yeah, that whole justification reeks of hedging to me.

I'm wondering if it's possible he only knows about FP6 and not FP5. Kos-Mos is such a weird pick to be at TGA's.

Vergeben states that a bunch of characters, including Phoenix Wright, are out of the running for Fighter 5. He also said that, when attempting to inquire about KOS-MOS, he ended up with a "not sure" answer... despite the fact that he previous said that Bandai Namco is entirely out of the picture!

He attempts to explain this by saying the rights to KOS-MOS are different from other Bandai Namco characters, and that Monolith Soft share partial rights to the character. That may or may not be true... but KOS-MOS has appeared in or been referenced by games that Monolith Soft had nothing to do with, specifically Soulcalibur III (a costume based on her can be unlocked), Tales of Hearts (a Tales Of game where KOS-MOS is a support character), and Tales of Vesperia (a DLC costume for the character Judith).

Not to mention, this was previously stated in a testimony by Arctiq...
Also, if his source knows EXACTLY who the fighter is, why is there a "not sure" on kos-mos? That's so weird to me.
... as the witness has stated, if the source of insider information for Vergeben stated that they know exactly who Fighter 5 is, why would they respond with a "not sure"? They would know for sure whether or not KOS-MOS was Fighter 5! This can only mean one thing...

SOMEONE IS WRONG ON THE INTERNET!
Feel free to ignore this entire spiel if you want. I just saw it as an excuse to "object" to Vergeben's post, Ace Attorney style.

At this point, I’m just ignoring what these people have to say. It’s too much for me to keep up with and I’m going in with the mindset that CP5 could be anyone.

Ok, what if fighter 5 is shown at the game awards and Geoff or someone says: "Well, this wraps up all the new Smash news for today"
... Screen goes black..
... "OBJECTION!!!"

Looking through that Gamefaqs post, it sounds like Verge's source is "someone who knows someone." Which is the equivalent to "my dad works at Nintendo" shtick. I can't seem to find the post where I got that impression, but I'll update this if I find it

Edit: Found it

Wright may have been deconfirmed for Fighter 5.

That doesn't mean he's deconfirmed for Fighter 6.

So from what I'm getting we're out for FP5. Big bummer, but then again I didn't really have the time to get my hopes up again.

Fighter Pass 2, here we go!

There's still a possibility Verge could be fed misinformation. I think we should just wait till Thursday. And prepare for disappointment.

That's why I'm telling you guys to not trust him for the moment. It's only three days! Anything can happen!

Regardless of what happens at TGA, Phoenix Wright will always have a place in my heart for most wanted character. Even if we get KOS-MOS, who is a character I've grown to think would be a fun addition as Fighter 5, instead of Pheonix Wright - there's still plenty of more chances after the Fighters Pass for him to be playable, provided we don't suffer like Resident Evil did.

I'm holding out hope for post-pass as mentioned but I don't think I'll prepare for disappointment necessarily. With the character both on and off the table, it's looking really interesting as to what we might see as fighter 5, so I'm pretty cool with that. The KOS-MOS rumors are super interesting, and there's still dark horse picks like Kazuma Kiryu or 2B.

Kos-Mos is a weird pick to me (especially for a TGA reveal), but I guess I'm happy for their fans. Also I would love Kiriyu (with a Majima alt).

I swear, if KOS-MOS ends being the FP5 i'm gonna be so mad...
Mind you, I won't be mad because of KOS-MOS herself, but I expect people to immediately jump on Reimubusa and give Milk-Bosatu more undeserved attention. As in, that's all people will talk about until E3 2020. Just like Erdrick and the Steve/Banjo wars.

That is not going to be a fun ride...

@Lesley Black Velvet Glad it's not just me being proven wrong by the universe as usual.

In fairness there are some times in this period where I occasionally stop posting, but it's hard not to post when something is actually about to happen. Not State of Play, I'm just using that to pass the time at this point.

...This might sound crazy, but what if this ends in a Banjo-Hero situation? You know, KOS-MOS and Phoenix both confirmed for Smash?
It would feel more like a Hero/Steve situation; expected character shows up, then suddenly a curveball that's been dismissed despite being leaked a day or so beforehand.

In other words, like when I expected Steve to show up shortly after :ulthero: did. If Kos-Mos even supposedly comes right before Phoenix, even that would be enough to kill the current supposed leak.

Don't jump to conclusions so readily, for all we know Kos-Mos won't happen and everyone will end up having wasted their breath for nothing, yet again.

It'd be like crying wolf for Steve in Smash every time anything remotely related to Minecraft or Microsoft happened. Also, remember that the 5Chan leak got almost nothing right, it just got Mementos, :ulthero: and one of his alts as lucky guesses disguised as leak bait. At this point I expect someone that no one will have seen coming, not even those supporting the current flavor of the week.

Just remain in Team Hmm, that's the only winning course of action.

And image uploads aren't working at all, great.

Oh, I didn't mean that it IS going to happen, just that if it DOES happen, it's gonna push speculation in a very specific direction which we won't be able to stray far from for a few months, that's what I meant with the Erdrick/Steve comparison.

Eh well at any rate this entire argument is exhausting me. Since overall big news won't start until the inevitably lethargic State of Play tomorrow, I may try to find something else to do after work. See you all.

I was about to complain how Vergeben backpedals and contradicts himself a lot compared to his behavior pre-launch.

Not to mention, this was previously stated in a testimony by Arctiq...

... as the witness has stated, if the source of insider information for Vergeben stated that they know exactly who Fighter 5 is, why would they respond with a "not sure"? They would know for sure whether or not KOS-MOS was Fighter 5! This can only mean one thing...

But you got everything I wanted to say right. So I don't need to vent myself.

About all of this. In only three days we will know the truth and conclusion of this case. For now, I want to be patient and not have a pessimist or doomed attitude until the FP5 reveal happens. Whoever it is. It is fun to hang around with everyone here and this thread being so active.
I hope the thread doesn't go back to its pre-"Resident Evil spirit board" state if Nick doesn't make it as FP5.

Kinda off-topic, but as a Layton fan I am curious to see the thoughts of this thread as a Layton fan:

Did you play the crossover game between Layton and Ace Attorney? If so how did you find it?
