Look, buddy to buddy, if you're feeling stressed to the point where it feels like you're fighting battles constantly here, it never hurts to take a break from the speculation scene. I did that myself. Took a hiatus from here for at least 6 months this year (partially thanks to CTR NF).

I know. In fact I'm not going there again until something concrete actually happens. Haven't been there in months.

Yeah I've been playing CTR myself. Incidentally, you can't talk about that much because of an issue that's extremely irrelevant and negligible.

Unfortunately, I'm intrinsically bored on the Internet and I still don't have a Switch yet, so I keep having to go back in here at least once a day. To be fair though I just occasionally have episodes, otherwise I prefer talking on PMs if nothing important happens. This is pretty much the only thread I'm actively posting on now, since the Shantae one's going in circles with no news at all.

I will say though, I won't be on here on the 11th and 12th, since it'll be a leak mine field anyways.

Now that's interesting. The third possibility that one of PapaGenos' fans just decided to copy an old 4chan post to get attention after he covered it definitely seems like a likely one.

He's had people make **** up in his Discord just to try and trick him into putting it into his videos to get their 5 mins of fame, so... I wouldn't say it's unlikely.

I'll say, it's a bit weird how more common leaks with a female character from a relatively niche game/series has been popping up in the last few months (Nakoruru pre-Terry, Reimu, Sakura, Kos-Mos, all pretty anime as well when you look at it). I do wonder if this is just random posters trying to saciate their desires for a female rep or something. At least with the likes of Jill and Arle I've heard about for quite a while.

It's not like there's more DLC afterwards... oh wait, there is!

I want my girls 2B, Arle and Ahri in, but... you don't see me claiming the latter is clearly in because "this leak that is really vague and which source has NO track record says she's in".

Sorry if I'm just venting, just... I think the wait is starting to get to me, even if I like where the conversation went the past couple of days.

I just sort of feel like this isn't the appropriate reaction to a couple people in this thread briefly considering the possibility that information with which they weren't previously familiar might have some value, though.

I'm just saying, I don't want folks to immediately believe everything they see. After a while there's going to be contradictions.

Real talk though, I've been concerned about people bringing up female characters a whole lot recently, at this rate it'll make the whole fanbase come off as SJWs or horny to outsiders. Even more than the general thread.

All I'm going to say at the moment is that I remain cautiously optimistic. There's a lot of conflicting information swirling around at the moment, and it's definitely going to ramp up by the day until TGAs are over, but you know what they say about when a lawyer can cry...

I kinda feel bad for papagenos, his sources have never really shown to be reliable for Smash, but his fans seem to kinda exploit how gullible he can be in attempting to "inform" the fans on all the supposed leaks going on that have some weight to them (scarce as this seems to be most of the time).

Yeah, I'm all in for more girls, but it feels pretty unorganic how people are just jumping on a characters chances because "it's a girl, therefore it gets a boost because none of the DLC has had them so far!" than someone that might have a genuine argument going on for them (not claiming any of the particular examples I brought fall in that category for the record, although I'll say all the girls in my wishlist have always pretty much bordered in the impossible, imo). It's not like Smash being a sausage-fest is any news as that's been the case since day 1, I dunno why they suddenly consider it a problem for Ultimate especifically, it's kind of an industry thing how a lot of leads are just males unfortunately. And with how Smash often aims for popular IPs or those with a long history (and good luck having many female leads in the 80-90s), it's not surprising most of our roster is guys.

Nothing wrong with wanting a female character as long as you like them for what they bring and who they are.
I also don't care about the smash community's "image" as it is already terrible, rightfully so, for many reasons.

Honestly, I could care less about getting what's expected or not. If Phoenix Wright happens to be expected then so be it. He's still the Number 1 Wanted Pick to folk like myself and hang the consequences that be.

I never really did buy into the motto of not wanting someone expected. Because honestly, as soon as someone becomes highly speculated in replacement, then you have the same problem that you started out with.

Yeah I mean you do have people that care about mainstream characters. Imagine how it felt like for TheCJBrine , who was caught in the middle of the Banjo and Steve sides because he actually wanted both.

I've been spoiled on so many things in life that it's rare for me to be legitimately surprised. If it is someone I do care about, at least I can actually get excited and not just go "Ah, that makes sense.".

I'd probably play him as vanilla Phoenix for the first couple of months, but to spice things up after that, if he has a pink color i'd use that.

Given the combination of a strong no on pretty much all of the other main contenders (almost everyone from Capcom, Kratos, Sora, Sol, my boy Monokuma who totally had a chance I swear, etc.) as well as Jon's totally-not-a-leak prediction, I'm thiiiinking it's probably going to be KOS-MOS.

On the one hand, as a character, I don't totally buy that she's earned it, given that she's repping a dead series with a mediocre reputation, from a company that has a still-living series with a glowing reputation. On the other hand, I don't have a single doubt she'll at least be fun to play.

I am sitting here shocked that Nintendo met with Capcom to negotiate A RESIDENT EVIL SPIRIT EVENT but not a fighter for the fighter pass. A Capcom character is coming post pass. There has to be. But who it might be is the question.
