Even if the game prints money, some companies and/or creators are harder to deal with than others. Otherwise, we would have gotten orchestral remixes for Dragon Quest songs in the game.

Heck, Sakurai's post-base game presentations are done specifically as cheaply as possible, since the reveal trailers for this time already tend to take up time and budget getting made period, so it's clear that they're trying not to spend too much in other areas.

But how do you know their licensing budget? Licensing is different from presentation. You’re making assumptions about their budget and trying to come up with a hypothetical situation where they have to have first party or indie characters because they run out of licensing money. It’s a convoluted argument based on assumptions to bolster your stance.

Meanwhile most people are just saying “based on previous DLC, I expect certain trends to continue.” How is one a fan rule and yours is not?

I think post-Pass DLC will be a mix of both.

This first Fighters Pass being entirely third-party so far, I think it's just to establish that, with characters like Joker, Terry, and even Banjo being included, no character in video game history is truly "off the table". Going forward, I see third-parties still getting in, but now doing so alongside some first-party characters.

Ace Attorney games have the culprits, which are considered the overall "boss" characters.

If you're asking for one that would actually be implemented as a Smash boss, I suppose there's Dahlia.

People keep bringing up Miles and Apollo as potential Echo Fighters for Wright, and they'd certainly be great choices... but there's a third choice that I think people are missing.

She's canonically dead in the Ace Attorney series, and with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate having a focus on Spirits, I think it would be a great excuse for this person to "rise from the ashes", so to speak, and do battle along with Wright.

Who is she? Well, take a guess...

People have gone completely loony reading into every step and breath taken by anyone talking about video games, as we get closer to the VGAs.

And as far as I know Xenosaga doesn't even belong to Monolith Soft anymore, and Bamco already is stated not to be FP5, so confirmation bias is at play here.

Nope, Bamco owns the IP and they have to ask them permission to use them in any future Xeno games. I also frankly find Kos-Mos ridiculous given that...what the hell has Xenosaga done to make me believe it'd get over Tekken, Soucalibur, Tales of, etc. To my knowledge it's neither a commercial success, a critical darling, a particularly important game on the genre for videogame history, nor a game Sakurai has talked fondly off at any point in time before, hell, not even the Xeno fans I meet online ever seem to like it very much (little as this matters for Smash speculation). Some people bring up Namco loves giving her cameos, but I don't even think she competes with Morrigan in this department, and it's not like it's the only character from their repertoire they love doing this with anyhow.

you know how it goes, people will jump in favor if a leak talks favorly of their favorite. I'm still on the fence on Phoenix or Capcom in general for fighter 5 despite all these twists and turns we've seen these days (not like we've heard anyone else back him up besides that one 4chan post, and nazyrus stands on no Capcom too to make us have our doubts), but this leak just doesn't do anything for me to believe it.
I'll also say, oof on that supposed fighters pass 2, for me it's nothing short of a hard skip lol. At least I'm glad we've moved over "Sony is totally fighter 5 guys despite being so uncooperative with competition before" we were seeing yesterday Horizon on PC would be neat though.

It's true. I'm currently looking into the timeline, because it really matters what info was available when, with regards to what the more likely explanation is.

It looks like Banjo's code name was public knowledge by the time of his release, and that second image was posted on September 12th. It seems plausible to me that the older post mentioning his code name might have been noticed by 4chan at that point, and that someone would go back and snag the image to lend credence to their own faux-leak. But the date is close enough that it could be the original leaker attempting to garner attention by using the same image to maintain a "brand."

I'd bet on the former, if only because that tends to be how 4chan works, but if KOS-MOS is revealed on Thursday, I'm inclined to think that it was the latter, because KOS-MOS isn't really "lucky guess" material.

I don't think it's likely at all. First off: there's no way to confirm if it's the same person who actually callled BK's codename. Second: this leak was posted a week after Papagenos covered the original one. Third: there's no ******* way anyone knows this many characters in advance. Not even Vergeben talked about three characters at once in the base game.

I feel like this and Milk-Bosatu are just kept alive by wishful thinking. Nothing else.

I'll say, it's a bit weird how more common leaks with a female character from a relatively niche game/series have been popping up in the last few months (Nakoruru pre-Terry, Reimu, Sakura, Kos-Mos, all pretty anime as well when you look at it). I do wonder if this is just random posters trying to saciate their desires for a female rep or something. At least with the likes of Jill and Arle I've heard about for quite a while.

Yeah, three characters is a stretch. 5Chan leak couldn't even get that right, and leakers with a good track record (e.g. Tansut) only state one character at a time. The next character doesn't fit, and the entire card castle collapses.

In regards to Milk-Bosatsu, I really don't know if he can be written off easily at all, but that's a topic for another day.

Not exactly. All we have to go on is that they used the same picture as the person that "leaked" Banjo's code. I believe after it was proven right(?) and possibly featured in videos that pointed out that fact. Could easily be a piggyback.
