Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Celebrates Its Fifth Anniversary with a Spirit Event

Smash_Ult_Fifth_Anniversary.jpg

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has surprisingly awakened from dormancy on its fifth anniversary. Why? To bring us a new spirit event alongside new spirits!

For starters, this new spirit event will last for five days. The event lets players earn five times the spirit points and experience points they normally would. And, players can also obtain five Snack (L)s from the event. Secondly, there’s also four new waves of spirits coming in 2024. These new spirits will be coming alongside their own amiibo-focused spirit events.

Author’s Note: That’s pretty unexpected, gotta say. And especially those new spirits coming in 2024, really didn’t have those on the cards at all. Anyway, I don’t expect any additional balance changes or bugfixes in an upcoming patch. I imagine it's really just these new spirits that are coming, but hey that's pretty cool regardless. What do you think? Please let us know in the comments below!

Insert Simpsons Zombie Lenin clip.

You know, it's kind of funny how this comes right after Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course DLC ends, and how Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course DLC came shortly after the final Spirit event to add new spirits before this revival (Street Fighter 35th Anniversary DLC). It's almost as if they don't want the two games to actively adding content at the same time and keep trading off.

Hoping for some Engage spirits but not sure how likely with how many big releases they have to pull from. Although you can probably say the same about the Smash roster itself & we saw how that turned out.

calling it rn, it's gonna be the scrapped Jet Force Gemini (and possibly Blast Corps) spirits. especially since the former is now on N64 NSO

if not that then uhhh... Noah and Mio? DEEP CUT? (pls i need Deep Cut)

This almost sounds like announcing , playable DLC , without directly announcing ,

why are they focusing on , Amibo , without releasing new , Amiibo ?

Very interesting, seeing as the last new spirit that we've got was Evil Ryu (which was back in early 2022). Sadly, any new planned spirit battles will only use the base game fighters, so you can pretty much forget about seeing any of the DLC fighters (especially Piranha Plant, Terry, and Sephiroth) get any screen time.
