Really, I'm not terribly worried about Sakurai's cut comments, because it seems he's doing exactly what he did with Brawl's roster: prioritizing the characters from most to least cuttable so that, in case of development difficulties (such as Sonic or the 3DS), he can 'reduce some characters' from the bottom up as necessary, leaving the cut characters' data as remnants on the disc for us to declare locks for SSB5. Doesn't mean we won't still get the vast majority of veterans we want in the game, if not all of them.

How many times have fans requested a 'hybrid' game between the gameplay of Melee and Brawl? How many times have fans openly despised tripping and the thought process behind it? Sakurai has his finger on the pulse of what we want, which ought to be a real comfort to those of us worrying whether he does. Possibly the guy most opposed to adding third party characters just declared the world's most wanted newcomer a 'special case' and gave him a fantastically rich moveset, for crying out loud. These will be a great two games, no doubt about it.

Habanero: Robin then? Or no character?

Anything can happen now though.

On cuts: I think why I sorta like hearing about cuts is that some characters are made way for new ones in this game. Meaning we'll get maybe more of a chance to see variety in means of newcomers instead of the roster size hitting a limit which means even less.

I know it sounds sorta harsh, but I think it's better to cherish certain veterans even more for their retirement and welcome new fighters.

And no one liked it. Brawl wasn't the great game everyone expected.

No Megaman, Cut Mewtwo, add Tripping, tons of wasted memory space on Trials of games, movies for SSE, etc. that could have been used on characters, stages, and items that were cut from the series.

64 to Melee had no cuts and that was popular!
People largely didn't like Brawl because of the way it played, not so much these reasons.

Yep, and this is why you're irritating.
We would appreciate it if you weren't so unkind User33, regardless if someone has such tendencies or not.

I EXPECTED Villager in SSB4. I even had him in my list of possible likely newcomers for SSB4 and I kept posting it here over and over. But most people here didn't even consider that Sakurai is, in fact, capable of changing his mind.
Good for you, but to be fair it is the first time we've got a character previously dismissed by Sakurai for not being fighter feasible, so it's not like they were incorrect in their logic against the Villager, for what was previously stated.

There was a large backlash on here initially because no Ridley, Megaman, and the cuts. Especially the cuts. This was before the game hit shelves when the roster was leaked.

That's my brother, haha. But seriously, the whole CONCEPT of Smash Brothers is watching our favorite characters duke it out. If our favorite characters are removed, then don't we have every right to be disappointed?
Naaaaaaaaah, Smash is clearly all about having "realistic" expectations and dealing with disappointment

How dare you actually want your favorite Nintendo characters to stay in the games, you must be the most naive person in existence if you seriously want that

Okay, so apparently, Masterpieces in Brawl took up over 1GB. With those gone, we can fit more content than Brawl. Calm down and stop it with the cut talk, people.

Okay then I guess I should apologize for my whole "emo"-drive last days, though it was still me trying to just go through accepting stuff that I really despised and so on.

But I think I'm ready to see now where this game gets into because now the gameplay has been assured to have even ground, I won't mind too about the game's final roster. Who knows what'll get.

Brawl wasn't so bad. -I only liked it because of Toon Link.- But aside from that it was trash.

Nah dude, Toon Link is nothing but wasted potential. Best part about Brawl is hands down Snake. Though I will admit he plays a lot better than all the previous incarnations of Link in SSB.

Looks like people are finally getting it. Embrace the cuts, don't fight it, welcome it. It's for the better good.

Megaman's triple shot is looking real scrubby so far, mainly because on the ground people will use it to lead in, then combo into a smash, grab, slide or his SRK. That's day 0 scrubby tech.

Now if anything is to be cut THAT would be a perfect candidate. You can't even do 1 lap in the F-zero game...

It will now be a mix of both.
Perfect. Not even kidding.

It's funny how violently everyone is reacting to the interview. Sakurai might honestly setting us up just in case he later has to reveal it that way and we won't be too distraught them. He said he's still trying to make it work and I would think he fully intends to keep the cuts as low as possible. I feel like he really wouldn't want to lose Ice Climbers, he's a big fan, right?

Also, everyone needs to stop freaking about transformations being cut. These are very different from Ice Climbers and the AI it uses to make Nana follow. Transformations are simple; changing a model and swapping a moveset.

IMO Toon Link is better.

To be honest, if you look at the Sakurai Vs. guy playing as Mario video. You can see the characters moving a lot faster then Brawl characters.
Yeah, it's what I've been saying. Engine looks faster, more polished, less floaty, attack animations seem faster. Etc...

I'm getting deja vu all over again because people are reacting the EXACT SAME WAY when Sakurai made almost the exact same comments about third party characters, character cuts, and the overall size of the roster back in 2006...
You see, FMOI? You see? This is why I feel like I am 23 all over again. :troll:

You know.

Worrying about it isn't going to solve anything.

I know Sakurai will try to keep as many characters as possible. He said that.

I trust Sakurai will make a good decision. He's already made several so far.

In the grand scheme of things the cuts in Brawl weren't that bad. Four of the cut characters were blatant clones (Mario in a lab coat, a sadist young pikachu, a younger version of Link, and fire version of Marth) and it was largely agreed by both casual and competitive players that Mewtwo was the worst executed character in the game aside from Pichu. So, one unique character was cut but, again, it was one that was terrible anyways despite having a decent fan following.

I was looking at the CLASH and it was pointed out that Samus' F-smash is like 3 frames.
Fall speeds seem to be increased too from the looks of that megaman vs mario battle
