I know Sakurai will try to keep as many characters as possible. He said that.

I trust Sakurai will make a good decision. He's already made several so far.
Combine what he said about keeping as many character as possible with him not denying the DLC possibility and there might be hope for no cuts, even if some characters come as DLC.

Sakurai doing his best to keep as many characters as possible is proof that he doesn't like cutting characters.

Speaking of Mega Man, I'm kind of worried about that character being overpowered due to having practically half of his moveset are projectiles. Not to mention that infamous down smash doing like 40%.

Yeah, it's what I've been saying. Engine looks faster, more polished, less floaty, attack animations seem faster. Etc...
Dat Bamco influence.

Perfect. Not even kidding.

It's funny how violently everyone is reacting to the interview. Sakurai might honestly setting us up just in case he later has to reveal it that way and we won't be too distraught them. He said he's still trying to make it work and I would think he fully intends to keep the cuts as low as possible. I feel like he really wouldn't want to lose Ice Climbers, he's a big fan, right?

Also, everyone needs to stop freaking about transformations being cut. These are very different from Ice Climbers and the AI it uses to make Nana follow. Transformations are simple; changing a model and swapping a moveset.
This.

Mind that the game is still in development. Changes are to be expected in the final version.

Being projectile-based isn't that nasty IMO, if they can be reflected or absorbed, well that's something. Also there's going to be balancing during the development, so I expect the attack to be nerfed.

As someone who will be maining him based on principle (as I did with Pit), I'm okay with this.

Keep in mind Sakurai did point out that his smash moves can overheat. This may keep spammers in check.
But yeah... he seems like quite the zoner.

Oh wow, a midpoint between Brawl's slower pace and Melee's faster pace? That's actually really good

That's pretty much what I along with a lot of other people wanted for Smash 4 anyway

I really don't think he was commenting on actually overheating. I think it was just visually. You can see MM using plenty of smashes elsewhere.

It was just for looks, basically. There's no reason to limit his smashes like that.

His Smash Moves overheat? (-lAl-);;;;

I hope this doesn't make Mega competitively less viable because if his killing power is reliant on those Smash, that's bit of a problem. Dunno if confirmed though.

Also noticing that there's Rush Coil as his Up B, isn't it practically the same as Sonic's Up B?

Hard to approach characters with reflectors with half his moves are projectiles. Really makes him relay on his Up and Down smashes, dash, throws, and back and forward aerial against Fox. And his Up and Down Smashes can be overused. Down Smash doesn't look like it can KO.

Although Bowser doesn't stand a chance. Especially with that traveling spike (down aerial). That is going to have to be changed.

Only his Down-A and Up-A I think.

So I just made an account to, er, deal with and respond to all of this crazy ****. I'm personally not worried. While I am a bit disappointed there are huge chances my main can be cut (Toon Link), I'm expecting Sakurai has better things stored up his sleeves. Besides, Sakurai has to know that the one thing Smash fans care about, it's the characters. I know he won't disappoint me.

I'm glad. We finally get a legit Zoner. Overheating seems like a good mechanic too. I like characters with gimmicks.

Haha those are really the names for the Smash games?

I had this gut feeling for so long that they weren't going to go with another fighting synonym this time around, guess it really turned out to be true

I never seen it actually do 40% damage. Any proof?

I have "butthurtitis" now because I don't like the idea of characters leaving the game?

Looks like I need a second opinion from a different physician because the one I have now seems to have a bad case of cynicism
Dr. Mario will also tell you it's butthurtitis. :troll:

Sakurai also confirmed to me that tripping, a significant and frustrating element from Super Smash Bros. Brawl had been removed. The series creator described the gameplay direction of Super Smash Bros. Wii U and Super Smash Bros. 3DS as being somewhere between the faster, more competitive style of Melee and the slower, more casual design of Brawl. No doubt that will be good news for those wanting a better compromise.

Well, most of the choices for a name I've seen have been god awful.
Kerfuffle...
