I played Galaxy 1 for about....10 mins? Then I decided it would be best to never play it again lol
I heard great things about Galaxy 2 though, which is why I bought it :urg:

I might just give it to my brother. He loved Galaxy 1 and hasn't played 2 yet.

Never forget that no matter how "amazing" a game is, it isn't for everyone!

I on the other hand believe this is the best Mario game I've ever played... Only about half way done so far but it surpasses Galaxy 1 by a longshot (and I loved Galaxy 1).

Better than SM64? Hard to say but it comes close!

Either Super Mario Bros 3, Super Mario World, Yoshi's Island, Super Mario 64, or Super Mario Galaxy 2 is the best Mario games I played. Best soundtracks with epic platforming.

I can agree, you can't please everyone, especially that one Mario game, *coughsuperpapermariocough*. xD

lol Super Paper Mario sucked. I didn't even have to play it to know it's garbage, I just watched my bro play it a bit.

Also, I loved Sunshine. Definitely my fav Mario game.

I'll give Galaxy 2 another shot tonight btw. We'll see how it goes.

Couldn't disagree more with you. Mario sunshine is probably the worst mario game ever. And galaxy is maybe the best imo.

I enjoyed Mario Sunshine, although I wish they would've made the generic sludge a more dangerous obstacle. Seriously, you have to stand in it for about 5 seconds for it to do even one damage lol

Completely disagree. I liked Sunshine but don't care much for the Galaxy series.

And whoever said Galaxy comes close to SM64 is wrong IMO. The games are nothing alike aside from the fact that you are mario collecting stars.

SM64 is an amazing sandbox platformer.

Galaxy is a 2D mario platformer put in a 3D space. The sandbox element is hard to find in this game which is what makes the 3D mario games fantastic in the first place.

Sunshine may not be the best but at least it still retained a bit of exploration and pseudo sandbox elements and is the most similar to 64. (Minus the longjump :( and various pro boxing moves (but Galaxy didn't have those either except for the long jump)

Generally, the Mario games go from "Hard to easy" and from "Figure the **** out yourself" to "go here."

When I first played galaxy i felt like a little boy again or something. It was actually touching for me. And the music is so incredible. Some of the stages in galaxy are just amazing. The only minus is that the bosses was to easy. But i simply just loved the game. Mario sunshine just lacks soul. It doesnt feel like a mario game at all. The stages couldnt compare themselves to galaxy. They were garbage. And the water tank on his back was just wtf.

That's because SMS wasn't supposed to be mario in the first place IIRC.
♣ First time me hearing this, I can't find any info on the search. Can anyone link me? Since Goombas wasn't in Sunshine, that could had been a clue. ♥

I might be wrong about that but I'm not sure. I can't find any proof its just something I think I heard somewhere. I know that there were 2 failed attempts at creating the next Mario game after 64.

Personally, I liked all 4 of the 3D platformers about equally.

However, were I too rank them I would likely put them in this order...

SMG2>SM64>SMG>SMS

However, I still really liked SMS and probably spent the 2nd most time playing that game (next to SM64).

I don't think that any of the 3D Mario games are bad. About Sunshine, I had low expectations when it was coming out. Back then all I knew was that Mario had to clean up a big mess with a watergun, and I thought that making a game about cleaning (compared to what Mario usually does) was stupid. Then I played the game and it turned out to be very fun. And personally I think that Sunshine had the best hubworld out of the 4, with Starship Mario and Peach's Castle coming in 2nd place. The Starship was very useful, and it was always fun to explore the Castle.

I agree with this order 100%.

I don't understand how some stupid water gimmick could make a game more enjoyable than Galaxy and especially Galaxy 2. The Galaxies have waaaaay more variety in them when compared to SMS in terms of platforming.

To each his own I guess...

my point was that, while you think fludd was a stupid gimmick, i thought it was pretty neat. i could talk about galaxy's gravity gimmicks, or super mario 64's 3d gimmicks, and so on. "gimmick" is just shorthand for "new feature that i think is dumb".

though i would agree with your original point that the galaxies are better than sunshine, i feel that sms gets a bad rap even though it was an outstanding game.

I hated Fludd haha
But I loved the worlds in Sunshine and Mario's overall movement.

Really, it and Metroid: Other M fall in the same tier.

Not the gold eggs we want, but still good games.

Sunshine was really good.

Mario 64 is the best game ever made.
Galaxy 1 was like 8/10. roughly as good as sunshine. less fun though.
Galaxy 2 is a 10/10. better than sunshine.

You have to have 9999 starbits in the Luma Bank.

yeah, it's dumb.
The funny thing is that I thought "Herp derp might as well get max Starbits while I wait for this comet" not knowing I needed to do it.

Things worked out quite well.

I just save the starbits to get 9999, I didn't think you need to save them in the bank to get the last level. xD

I feel like playing Galaxy and Galaxy 2 again. :D
