alright, so what you're saying is basically "go sheik"

gotcha.

vs. his link i sort of play like i do vs. marth...just really patient and not trying to be too tricky. link is easier to rest though, especially if he starts to miss grabs or up-bs. overall it's a boring matchup.

Mang0, I noticed when I played good ole J666 after these long months that WOW Link can **** Puff.

BUT, I just had to play completely differently. Link works too much on a formula of attacks.

Idea, take that away from him and add Rests and it's all good :D

...o right...don't forget to make him your *****...n stuff.

(I go Samus for Link, and BOY, can i caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamp!)

i find the link i play assumes he can get lots of combos...he's more used to fighting heavier characters (top tiers) so i can get some hits in by him being too greedy. but he has really good spacing and kind of always keeps a boomerang or bomb out, so it's hard to approach him. meh, i still win at least half the time, so i'll come back here next time i play him. upair rest and uptilt rest do work, so i have those...

why can't everyone just go falcon on me? =D

i don't like falcos, i have to stop attacking. but they're not overly hard, just really irritating. although, bad or only okay falcos get destroyed...

falcon is the same way, actually. only really good ones give me trouble, and in that case they're very hard, but otherwise i can almost stand there uptilting. did you know a well-timed uptilt actually beats raptor boost?

don't really know anyone who plays bowser. i assume he can't do much to get past upair rest. nair-ultilt-rest he could just up-b out of, but if you stay in the air...............

this typing is probably pretty noticeable in my relatively quiet tutorial.

yeah for some reason link gives puff lots of trouble...

His nair and bair have a lot of priority, usually beating bairs/fairs/nairs.

He camps, too: boomerangs and bombs up the ***

beware getting grabbed:

down throw at like 70 is death; d-throw to dair works like a charm

its like jiggs up throw-resting a fox, but link has it too

the good side is if he misses it

because you're smart and you crouched like hbox told you to (:D)

you can rest - he has lots of lag.

edgeguarding him in tricky also, since his sword hits at a strange angle when he does the swyaaaaya

well,

bair camp him back

once he's in the wall he's gonna get pain, trust me

don't be so eager - be patient with him, and try to land a good nair every here and again.

uptilt is like sex in this matchup, similar to peach

avoid his dair and uair

they hurt like piss

baby hit fair off the edge when you are edgeguarding him

GET AN EARLY REST AND THE MATCH IS YOURS!
-----------------------------------

BTW:

for people having trouble l-canceling with jiggs or any other character:

try Z.

Z not only does aerials, but also l-cancels too.

so...

when approaching someone like, say, fox or falco with a fair.

While you are falling with a fair towards them, just

ZZ.

Click Z twice. that's it.

da-da

click-click

right before you touch the ground.

for those who wanted to know:

i jump with up
I l-cancel with z
i do aerials with z
I wavedash with R and up

scream at meh

mmk, i'll try this crazy z thing. i remember raynex telling me you were doing that at kansas and us both having a "wtf" moment. i keep forgetting to edgeguard link like that, but i saw sliq do it when he came to toronto a month or two ago and i've been meaning to start trying it.

jump - Y
aerials - A or C-stick
L-cancel - L
WD - Y+R
techchase - all DAY

A well timed anything beats raptor boost. Bowser's jab will beat raptor boost. o_0

lawl, jiggs ***** everyone, don't worry about it

i gotta train on those nasty foxes tho

(m2k, colbol, raynex, etx.)
You are already really hard to face. The one thing you don't do, which you should definetly start practicing, is restttt. Rest combos, rest in general, and usmash oos. You could've beat me if you rested after that pound in the 3rd match. :(

Ya I've never met a player that uses Z exclusively for all aerials and lcancels. Pretty crazy stuff.

Hey again ^_^

........

T_T

Well I played like 20 matches vs my friend's Falco, and it was actually going real good for a while. I 3stocked em and 2stocked him twice and won a few close ones. Problem is, towards the end I lost 4 out of 5. He switched things up a bit and I guess it worked pretty well.

Soo, vs Dair/Laser spammy Falco, I've been floating over lasers -> Fair/Bair -> hopefully grab. Problem is whenever it gets shielded, which is often, it usually ends up with me getting Dthrown, and then he proceeds to **** the hell out of my shield.

Not much works against his shield pillaring, Nair OOS actually did work... once... but I'm guessing I somehow got frame-perfect timing. Doesn't seem like I can really do anything once I'm on the ground and in my shield, I just have to take the beating till I can eventually DI out of the combo and repeat the process.

The whole match seems to me that it's just me getting ***** around the stage until I land a lucky/nice Rest/Edgeguard. T_T

Any more tips left out there? Or have I completely exhausted the "vs Falco" tips?

Thanks for everything thus far.<3

Amazing insight from the new god of Jigglypuff, though.

Well, I consider Falco easier than fox, just because he's easier to gimp, and, believe it or not, easier to up-throw rest. Falco players switch their style completely when playing jiggs because they are aware of the fact that they can get killed at very, very low %'s.

All falco's should spam laser against jiggs, since they serve as a counter to her bairs: lasers and bairs are meant to stun the opponent more than damage them, or at least in most cases.

I have a video of me playing one of my crewmates. It was a few months back, when I was experimenting different things against falco:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBLCNoKU6qU

It's not too good, but right now i'm much better at the matchup. Nair works very good against approaching falco; I like to full-hop nair (Nairing forward gives you more priority than nairing backwards, at least from my experience) to approach falco, it gives a quick stun which, if L-cancelled like a good little boy, you can follow up with grab, jab to f-smash, jab to grab, f-tilt, or the like, etc. etc.

Laser laser laser. it's true, it does get quite annoying, quite aggravating actually. The main thing is not letting falco make you your *****. In any set with ANY character, you HAVE TO ADAPT. I don't switch characters in matchups because I know that my jigglypuff can adapt to whatever an opponent is doing. In the case of Falco, his constant lasers are his way to approaching jigglypuff. Don't be his ***** by taking each laser to the face. Hop out of there, and shoot your own lasers (by that i mean nairs or fairs) and approach him back. Don't let him get to you, like shielding constantly and hoping you'll get out of the laser spamming. It's better to approach with nairs rather than bairs, and it's good to baby fair the air above him, because you know he's going to jump - INTO YOUR REALM OF AERIAL PRIORITY. Falcos like jumping. They really do.

Crouch, fellow marshmallows, crouch. Lasers have a hard time hitting you if you are crouching. And the most excellent part of this all is that jigglypuff can move while she is crouching: SHE CRAWLS WHEN SHE WAVEDASHES. Well, not really, but she crouches, so wavedash and dashdance the blue bird, hop with nairs and baby fairs around his lasers instead of waiting with your sheild to grab him, and then when he is stunned or when you are up in his ****, grab him, and make some blue fried chicken, if you catch mah drift.

One more thing: if you back throw falco off the ledge and you bair or even fair him once, he cannot get back if you grab the ledge.

Falcos tend to phantasm rather than firefox back onto the stage. So when you back throw them off stage, you can:

a) go out and fair (only bair when they are flaming up their firefox, or just fair) because fair hits them right as they are phantasaming

b) do the j-puff dragdown (gravity is your teammate, remember)

c) WAIT. When you get falco off the ledge, he wants to get back as quickly as possible, meaning the will phantasm. Crouch and space your self correctly, and he will forward-b will end right above you, which you can REST. If not, he will phantasm to the edge, but they will have to postition themselves correctly while they are recovering to do this. The solution? Easy. Go to the end of the stage where falco is zooming to the edge, and f-tilt right as he gets there. Or just baby fair the edge off stage. You have 5 jumps. He has just one.

KFC for everyone!

Falco raaaaaaaaaaaape

hbox<33333333

2good. Thanks a ton.
Unfortunately I didn't get to play him this weekend but I most likely will Monday or Tuesday, so I'll let you guys know how it ends up. ^___^

So basically: Approach with Forward Nair and Falling Fair, avoid laz0rz, GIMPGIMPGIMP, and Uthrow->Rest.

Weak hit/strong hit lol.
You can use the strong hit when they're close and DI away (like half way across the stage) or just Nair and go above them and go back then do it again. If they jump into your nair you can fsmash, dtilt, anything really. If they don't jump into nair, they can't get you can you run or hit their shield and go behind them far. Fast fall the Nair when you want to cause it's better most times.

Basically if you Nair, they'll either run into the strong hit or you can go to them for the weak it. If they run into the hit or you hit them with it, you can get away safe or follow up or anything. Nair FH is good.

=D

Hbox, I noticed yesterday that I use Z for Nairs and LCing Nairs. That's the only time I use it in the air haha.

hungrybox how were you able to convince your parents to let you go to really far away tournies =/
Blackmail.

LOL! J/k

Well, my dad's not around, and convincing my Mom was...well...I can't really remember how I did it...I got A's and B's in AP classes on my report card, and I did chores and stuff...

But the main thing is talking with your parents...Think about why they wouldn't let you go. Imagine your son telling you he wants to travel across the country to go to an event that you aren't even sure exists, or is sponsored, or is run by good, noncriminal people, etc.

So you want to start with proof. An OOS (unless you travel a lot, which most of us don't) should never be your first tournament. It should be like, your tenth or twentieth in my opinion. Why? Because by then your mom or dad (obviously knowing that you go to tournaments often) will know that your have a passion or at least an interest in the game and its friendly subjects at tournaments.

Show your mom or dad the website of the tournaments, and pictures of the venue, or at least the thread. Traveling far should only occur for OOS's, which often have websites, pictures, etc. If your parents are really icky, they can call the phone of the host, who usually is willing to answer any questions.

MAKE SURE YOU DON'T ASK PERMISSION TO TRAVEL A WEEK BEFORE! Last minute assurance is horrible. Like talking about a fragile issue with someone, start out slow, like saying, "you know how I go to these gaming tournaments, right? Well, there's a national one that's going to happen in a few months..." Or start out with the friendly, "What would you say if I told you that I wanted to fly or travel to an OOS tournament?" Make deals and do favors, people. I know, these phrases are probably horrible and are probably not even the ones I used.

But you know your parents better than I do. You know how to talk to them, and how to say the right things. Begging and whining is a no, it just shows desperation, which shows immaturity. Your parents want to see maturity if you are going to travel alone or with other smashers.

Flying to Event 52 was my first OOS by plane, and my 2nd OOS overall. It wasn't just like, "Mom, I'm flying to Kansas tomorrow," and then, "Bring a sweater!" No. Address them early, and look for good times to talk with them about it. Try making good accomplishments, and work around those to get permission to go. When there was a major tournament down here, FAST1, my mom came to drop my brother off, and it was her first time seeing a major gaming tournament. She told me afterwards (in spanish),

"This is more than just brain-dead teenagers playing for hours to get money...this is a community of life and vibrant people."

Maybe it takes your parents actually seeing what a tournament is like to convince them. Maybe they are just ignorant to the fact that this is an amazing community. Whatever the cause, respect their initial opinion, and over time their minds will change as long as you say the right things.
