i told you guys Uematsu and Sugiyama were/gonna be the problems they don't need a ton of songs i'd say get a few that do their job and get the point across so get 1. The Main theme 2. 3s battle theme 3. 4s battle theme 4. 5s battle theme 5. ANYTHING FROM DQ 8

I didn’t really expect Sugiyama to be such a problem due to how he prefers seperate releases apparently. If both FF and DQ have problems with their music selection in Smash, then I feel that SE is just unlucky when it comes to music.

Eh, I’d rather not but all my eggs into a basket, I’m not denying the chances though.

But unless it’s been confirmed by Nintendo themselves, then no one 100% guaranteed unless they have something indisputable like a picture or video (look ESRB and Ken), and this is something I have been more hesistant on with DLC since word of mouth would be more shakier.

So yeah, I’m just playing the waiting game.

I don't think he ever said that. He simply said a number of requests and the most talked about Final Fantasy character was Cloud, which is a pretty much no brainer.

There's obviously other iconic Final Fantasy characters, classes, monsters, and mascots. You don't get to 15 main installments, numerous spin-offs, and 31 years with only one icon. Lol.

Tbh, I'm not counting my Chocobos before they wark.

But getting Erdrick news twice in the last 2 days, from credible sources, makes it hard for me to act tough and skeptical.

As I said before, while Erdrick was one I was sure of at first due to Tansut, the whole "he was planned for base" throws off how what I thought. I think he's very likely, but that in itself sounds like bait to me due to Sakurai's own words on the project plan. Of course, I won't pretend it's impossible either.

I was never exactly against him either. I just wanted Slime more. But I still will always view them as major characters and unless Trophies come back, I feel both would bring the same key stuff just fine. Slime would show off more the monster skills that you can't find among the Heroes, while Erdrick is better off at showing the particular equipment(as in armors and weapons).

Tansut was one of THE only people to actually leak any Smash 4 DLC. CERTAINLY the only one to leak Cloud, implying he's got some HEAVY Squenix connections.

...plus, can you blame me? I'm tired of having my heart broken. I've decided to take the "expect nothing, be happily surprised if it's not nothing" route.

The missing slot is most likely PP. But it is possible it was someone else who became DLC. And thus, still part of the project plan(which Sakurai never added to or removed once it was made). It could be a Dixie tag team(my guess is with Cranky).

Not the set I mean. I'm talking about the actual character ID's. All super unique alts have their own, like the Villagers in general have two. Four alts fall under 1, and the other four fall under another 1. Male/Female.

Trust me, I understand why you’re taking this perspective, especially since you do have emotional attachments to at least one character on this list.

I can’t say the same for me; I don’t really care who gets in on a personal level, if it’s any of the main 7.

And yes, I do recognize Tansut as the guy that leaked Cloud.

But for me, I don’t see any reason to jump on Erdrick just yet.

Despite the number of leakers starting to back Erdrick, I don’t see a lot of tangible evidence actually pointing to his inclusion outside of basic speculation.

Quantity of leakers, regardless of notoriety, doesn’t mean jack **** to me unless they have quality evidence (that they’re willing to show) to back it up.

That’s why I’m still remaining skeptical.

Tansut had no input on the leak beyond confirming 'the character and male/female alts'. When it comes to the base game rumor, that comes from other insiders.

Exactly. The missing slot is a victory theme between Inkling and Incineroar. Whatever character this was, unless it was an entirely scrapped victory theme for a fighter we still got, had a completely new victory theme. They also were surely a first party character. It could be PP having a separate entry for the same theme as Bowser's and Bowser Jr.'s/the Koopalings', or it could have been someone entirely different.

Y'all may be debating whether the regular Persona 5 will come to Switch or not, but since BlazBlue Cross Tag is already available and Central Fiction follows soon, I say it's incredibly likely to get the fighting game on it.

No. The Doom rumour said it would come in the first half of this year, AKA around this month and June, but the other rumour didn't say anything about a date. Granted, it did say the Persona fighter was P5U instead of P5R, which would contradict what MarkMan may be leading us to think, and that it got delayed in favour of the Granblue fighter.

It's just a theory based on a number of things.

1. Erdrick basically being known to some degree since August.

2. Multiple people mentioning that Square Enix was difficult to work with and there were a lot of hiccups and infighting.

3. Dragon Quest XI being announced for Switch back when it was known as NX in August 2016 and technically being one of the first third party games announced.

4. Dragon Quest XI still being MIA on the Switch with DQ XI S being a super vague 2019 for Japan only.

5. Erdrick by far having the most details known of any DLC character.

6. Erdrick having 4 separate IP holders and basically being an Eldrich Horror when it comes to liscensing.

These are the big talking points. My thoughts are that Erdrick was probably planned for base or at least the first DLC character but Square was Square and DQ XI S got put on the back burner repeatedly for whatever reason, missing Ultimate's launch window and putting Erdrick in a super awkward position of being just as big of a ???? to Western audiences as Marth in Melee. When the team noticed that Erdrick's timing would be comically bad, they probably hardcore slammed on the breaks, possibly freezing his development until DQ XI S at least had a more definitive date. Now the Smash team is probably in the awkward position of not knowing when to release him because Dragon Quest Builders 2 is pretty much the only DQ game coming out on a Nintendo platform anytime soon and that's as spinoffy as you can get and the West probably isn't even getting DQ XI S until 2020 at this point.
