Dude, your really funny.........
He wasn't to begin with. I don't know why some think its a bad idea. I mean it's not the best idea, but coming from a SA's point of view, few decent to good players either quit for melee or just quit.

I personally like the idea cause that gives out the chance to play and compete with better players. Of course more than half of the players are as good as Dojo (Who has the best looking sig in the world next to Hylian's), Hylian, Melee1, Infinity, Sethlon, Xyro, Espy, ect. ect. But I would like to think that if I could be as good as Sethlon or Espy or even Dojo that it would be worth it to be in tourney and hopefully bring more people and players to the scene.

If the whole thing about dividing the cities of the state into North and South to compete at very high levels with other states (IE Cali) then we need to atleast give this a try. I mean what's the worst that can come from this?

People want a crew battle so bad, my crew will happily play anyone. Just let me know how many people and where.

How are people going to get picked? I would like to play in one of these but only if i am good enough. The only one that could prolly know will be Hylian, but even then it would be the night before the tourney lol.
I think you should pick the teams according to tournament placing on that day

Crews for FS5 are pretty much set at this point, I think. Do good at FS5 and you can make an argument for getting included next time around.

Like someone said earlier, the only way I see this working is if everyone is willing to travel to tournaments.

I think that a new power rankings just for NorTex and South Texas is in order to determine crew spots. This also means that people must be willing to step up to the plate to host formal tournaments not just casuals to up the level of competition and to make up for the influx for the power rankings that will be maintained for such a small area(compared to the entire Southwest for example). Now I would volunteer to fill in the void for NorTex, but I'm currently out a good venue and can't host.

The only rule I ask to be put in place for these rankings is that no member of each others team can't be qualified to be entered in the power rankings of the other side because that would defeat the purpose of the suggestion.

If anything dallas needs to hold some big tournaments, like HOBO. We should have one to spur off this whole North/South relationship thing. Now if only we can find some place to host one.

Splitting up the state in order to generate competition between the segments of the state is a great idea. The problem is that we already do this, so you're effectively suggesting that we change names of regions and that's it. I'm all for competition, but this seems like an effort to do something that's already in place. Also, geographically speaking, north and south Texas are 2 full hours and nearly 150 miles closer to each other than north and south California (going by Dallas to Houston (239 miles) vs Los Angeles to San Francisco(382 miles), which is longer than the distance between Dallas, Texas and Wichita, Kansas (363 miles)) which covers 2 states; so they have a better justification for it than we do.

Power rankings should not be split up. The reason our power rankings are so hard to get on in the first place is because our region is really, really, REALLY good. Like easily in the top 3 in the nation. I feel like if the power rankings were split up, then it would boil down to the 'best' local players being on their respective panels and I know for sure that if that happened in Dallas it would definitely form a rift amongst some of the players because of all of the varying opinions I've heard our local people say about one another. It feels like much more of an accomplishment to be considered one of the best in the whole state than in a relatively small part of it.

I'm all for better competition between the regions and I'm all for our state improving as a whole due to the better competition; however, I don't feel like segregating the areas of the state would benefit us in any way because we're basically already in that situation. Here's what needs to be done, IMHO:

- Players in the southern area of the state need to travel more to the northern area of the state. The inherent problem with this, from what I understand at this point, is that a lot of you guys have transportation issues. However; Dallas, Waco and San Angelo have all come down to multiple tournaments in Houston and San Antonio, so maybe you guys should get together and figure out a way to get transportation taken care of.

- Northern areas need to hold larger tournaments. The problem with this is that our premier tournament gets little to no advertisement around the rest of the state. A few of you guys have heard about it and even discussed coming up here for it from what I understand. I hereby promise that the moment I find out about our next serious local tournament that every Texas Brawl related thread I can find will have information about it. I hope you can all arrange a way to come out to it; from what I understand it should be early in the year.

- Northern and Southern Texas both need to support Waco more. Come on guys, it's about as close to being in the center of us as you can get; they're 2 hours away from everyone and yet no one goes to their tournaments. I believe that this is, once again, an advertising issue. Xyro, if you could contact Shiken and work out some sort of way to boost the appeal of his next tournament I really do believe that the whole state could benefit from a central location hosting large-scale tournaments.

- Overall, the level of interaction between the different zones of the state needs a boost. The Beaumont Fest is a good example of something that should be done more often so that the players can sit down and have a good time playing one another and even have time to learn from one another. Gas prices are super cheap now ($1.40 right around the corner from me, and after a quick review it looks like the average gas price down there is around that range too) so maybe a few of you guys could come up to one of our Smashfests. Seriously, Dallas Smashfests are legendary. We get noise complaints all the time because we're so awesome that DPhat's neighbors can't handle it. Ask the San Angelo guys some time. Plus, if you guys wanted to crash out for the weekend, I'm sure that Dallas could work something out for housing.

If I think of anything else that could be useful I'll post about it later. I'm on about 9 hours of sleep since Sunday night, so I'm gonna go do that whole sleep thing and see how that works out for me.

are you serious infinity? seriously, get real. i stopped reading after you said TX is top 3 in the nation. first of all, how the **** did you come up with that? who has TX played recently other than OK and LA?(two small states) once we get majority players into cali, east coast and other good regions, you can state your opinion. until then, you can't just say we're in the top 3, especially when other states have said we are behind. hell, even xyro has been going around saying TX is behind cali, so..

He said regions not states.

Besides you can fit Md/Va/Ny and half of the other beastly states from the EC into Texas.

if you do this silly little gimick to your state please don't use NoTex and SoTex just use NT and ST or something so it doesn't sound ********

Washington just uses WWA (western washington obv) and EWA (eastern washington obv)

actually normally its WA and EWA

Yea Infinity does have a way with words. :)

Gimpyfish is posting here? Wow, I had to double check that this was the SouthWestern part of the boards. Good to see that someone outside of TX, or SW for that matter, to put in a good note on this idea. Thanks Gimpyfish. :)

NT and ST sounds good. DMG and his break down of the state seems good. Let's form the teams and use them after final smash 5. I suggest 10 players per side. Agreed?

Read my sig to see what some Cali people have to say about this

sig space

just in case
You're the one who went in there and presented it the way you did telling them to come in here and call us stupid. There's no **** need to get pissy over something we're gonna attempt to try and make our state a little more competitive considering we tend to lack that. If you don't like it move or get the hell over it.

Merry Xmas everyonee.

What are u talking about im confused..I know im on for NT but im not sure if foursaken made the cut...
Let me clarify.

Suspect posted on the boards that he would except any and all crew battles. I thought you, damien, and andy would all be accepting of this challenge. I'm not talking about the NT vs. ST crew battle, this is an entirely different thing. I was going to talk to you guys about it at Dphat's smash fest this Friday.

Much <3 for Dojo.

I just want a more healthy competitive scene with an increase in activity.
10 v. 10, NT vs. ST at FS5 sounds pretty ****ed awesome. I'm all up for that, and hope to be able to participate.

Xyro, any thoughts on what I said? I hope you didn't just ignore it, I made several very valid points.
