So who do you think the ARMS rep will be?
If you ask me, I honestly think it'll be more than one (how that'll work I'm still figuring out).

I was thinking Dr. Coyle at first but then I remembered how there was an glitch regarding Duck Hunt and Mii Swordfighter as evidence of DLC characters being worked on and Bayonetta experiencing the same thing. Given that she is Twintelle's spirit I'm thinking her.

If true this will finally kill the spirit deconfirmation and protagonist first fan rules.

Apparently Twintelle is similar to Bayonetta or something which is leading people to speculate her development was the cause of that one glitch as Michael mentioned so I dunno. Plus Twintelle is a girl and apparently a popular one as well (as much as I hate the reason why) so... I can see it. People are really extrapolating if they think "This fighter has extendable arms" is a good reason to disconfirm Twintelle. Arms are appendages used for supporting the upper body among other things and her hair functions just like the arms of the others. If anything, she's completely unique because of her using her hair within that roster so it could be what Sakurai gravitates towards.

I actually really hope it's not her because all the people I've seen request her want her purely for objectification reasons instead of something like, I dunno, a female of color if we're going by superficial reasons to want someone in? That's at least a better ground to stand on than "she's hot".

Or the glitches were due to a different character we haven't had announced yet and it's Dante who's hush-hush atm. I dunno.

In the past hour I simultaneously found out about the existence of the mini-direct and watched it. And.... honestly, I'm interested! I was always interested in trying out Arms. Plus it's a brand new franchise being added to the game, so.... cool! We'll just have to wait for June now. That's 2 months.... but it doesn't feel that far away. Plus it kind of fits with how the last round of characters were released. Hopefully we get more reveals at a certain point in the future around where E3 would have been.

Not particularly disappointed despite nothing there really for me. Maybe it's because it was such a surprise.

Although I'm totally in to Wii Play 2/Action 51.

Would have preferred Dig Dug over Mr. Driller, but that's just me.

Now to get back to homework and Zoo Tycoon. Then I'll finish my PSASS mega-post!

My bets on 8 of the most well known arms characters. Bowser Jr alt style. Some people are speculating it may be a fighter from an Arms sequel, but I don’t think that’s likely. They wouldn’t release a fighter the same time they reveal an Arms sequel. If they revealed an arms sequel in the mini direct and didn’t give us any smash news, I’d think that would be a possibility. But the way this is set up is that it’s only possible we get the fighter before the game. Which seems unlikely. Willing to bet there’s no sequel (or it doesn’t have to do with smash) and we’re getting Bowser Jr style alts. I also hope it’s that too, since I’d love to get rid of the spirits deconfirm and ATs deconfirm rules with the first fighter.
My guess for alts would be Spring Man, Ribbon Girl, Ninjara, Min Min, Twintelle, Helix, Misango and Dr. Coyle. And my guess is probably gonna stay that way all the way up until the reveal.

I've been saying since Arms released that Lanky should be in a sequel. It's literally perfect.


Anyway, I think that Direct Mini hinted at something very important, we are in fact getting an "E3" Direct in June and I think the Arms character will be available when the presentation is over. I also think we'll get a second character, in a situation similar to Hero/Banjo, although that character likely won't be available after the Direct.

They could also easily just replace Spring-Man's AT with that evil Spring-man.

how do you get Twintelle, Helix, and Spring Man working on the same moveset? They're all way too different from eachother.

Twintelle couldn't work as an alt, she uses her hair instead of her arms.

Retexture the Spring Man Assist Trophy as Springtron and have the 8 alts be Spring Man, Ribbon Girl, Min Min, Kid Cobra, Helix, Lola Pop, Misango, and Dr. Coyle.

I like that ARMS is the third fighting game series to get a fighter after Street Fighter and Fatal Fury and the first one to be a Nintendo IP.

Arms 2 should be called Arms 2: Legz, it adds a story mode where the Arms League is attacked by an evil terrorist group called Legz Squad who have no arms and only attack by kicking.

This is why I wish Nintendo would adopt the season pass format of games like Mortal Kombat, show it all off upfront, let the characters all speak for themselves, then blow our minds all over again with trailers later.

other fighting games can continue to do that, but Smash reveals feel much better being separated from one another. Revealing everyone at once wouldn't feel hype in the long run

To celebrate, I'm going to read the ARMS graphic novel preview comic again and "read" the manga too (it's not in English but it has pretty pictures ).

Not much to say about the mini-Direct, but I am quite interested in the Smash news! Pretty surprising an Arms rep is the first fighter after it felt Nintendo was moving on from the Arms hype.

Spring Man is among my most wanted for Smash, but him being an AT makes me feel conflicted. His AT status holds him back, he is the face of Arms, maybe he will finally break the rule of AT's deconfirming characters for Smash. If that ends up being the case, I can imagine the outcry from Waluigi/Isaac/Shovel Knight/Bomberman fans would be enormous.

If Spring Man won't be the Arms rep, my hopes are on Ninjara for being my favorite Arms character and my Arms main from my time playing it. Plus, he is popular, so he has that going for him.

Liked the Xenoblade news at the beginning too. Especially hyped to see that:

The key on Alvis's chest is now a core crystal just like the ones Pneuma and Malos have, thus confirming Alvis is Ontos (well at the very least heavily pointing toward that direction even further than before).

I liked the whole subplot with Robbie Reyes and Coulson is quite a cool character!

I haven't got to the Robbie Reyes part yet as I have a long way to go and will watch the entire seasons before I get there eventually.

Anyways speaking about the second season pass in which I have a feeling that it will consist of a mixture of 1st and 3rd party characters. Here is my revised list:

- Third Party - Someone from Tecmo Koei
- Another Xenoblade Character
- Third Party - Not sure which one.

I can see Dr. Coyle but eh. I feel like the Arms character should be a character people know and who will have an important part to play in Arms as a whole. Dr. Coyle barely fits one of those.

This whole situation makes me wonder what the **** would go down if Nintnedo announced "We're getting an Overwatch character" and everyone goes mental because they never specified who.

And yeah, refusing to believe Waluigi is actually popular is just denial. He has been requested ever since Brawl IIRC and has only grown even more popular because of his meme status and also would be a really fun character. A lot of people believe he'd really close out the Mario series due to him repping their Party and Sports titles which do have a separate folder for music in the game.

His fanbase has obnoxious and toxic people, but so does Geno's, and refusing to acknowledge a character or anything in general based on their fans and the fandom has always been a very silly act IMO.

But I mean as far as I'm aware he's still not getting in so whatever.

To be honest, I've never liked the reasoning of wanting a certain character for Smash Bros. simply because "we need more people of color" or "we need more females to diversify this sausage fest of a roster". It just makes discussion unnecessarily political and strays away what Smash has always been about from the start: a crossover series where various video game legends can duke it out together. Seriously, who cares?
