Pretty great. Just came back from a walk and i'm gonna work on my mario fighting game roster thingy now.
How bout you?

I'm gonna copy/paste a quick rant, hold on:

i'm dropping hockey all together because my team is underachieving harder than ever before
and i'm just sick of watching
which i thought i'd never say but i am
and i got POed earlier due to failing to install a water purifier and idk why that's gone awry. because the purifier SHOULD have fit into the faucet but didn't fit for whatever reason, and when i tried to screw back on the original faucet piece, it wouldn't go back on and it's just driving me nuts. I don't understand what's going on.
And I have to give a program update tomorrow at my new job and i've been stewing on that.

it's just been very, very stressful today. Only positive is that I finished my re-watch of regular show and it was nice

People playing it have been pretty positive on the game overall, based on this thread and in other places. The main consensus I've seen is if you weren't a big fan of the 3DS games (I enjoyed them with some hangups), this won't change your mind, but it's hard to screw up the Pokemon formula.

Yeah, in fairness people who have actually played it say it's pretty good by the 3DS game standards. TBH I get major X&Y vibes from the game: Yeah, it could use a bit more in certain areas, but the overall core experience and Pokemon formula is really solid. I think the main problem is that if you're not hardcore into the Pokemon formula and you were wanting/expecting a BotW-styled major shake up, this is absolutely not that.

My current thoughts on the game is I like it more than SuMo and ORAS, and it might be just a bit better than X&Y just for the better pacing and (in my opinion) better Pokemon design and selection. I also think the region and characters are a lot more interesting than Kalos was so far.

I totally get why people are disappointed with the game and respect differing views on it, but for me personally, it's matched what I expected since they announced it back in 2017 and I'm satisfied. Hopefully they'll go back on some...controversial design choices so that everyone can be happy again.

Man, the Diskun Spirit Fight is really annoying. Projectile gang is in full force. Next time I fight that one, I'll try using Wolf so I can reflect it. Been trying to grind certain spirits so I can grab ones like Protoman, Rush and Gold Mario.

Guys

This game isn’t a masterpiece by any means. It’s not a huge upgrade like odyssey or BOTW, it’s another Pokémon game. If that’s not what you’re looking for (especially considering certain design choices) I completely understand.

But god dammit it’s fun!!!

I got up to the first badge last night, and I spent hours upon hours just running around and discovering new Pokémon. I’m SO glad I didn’t look at any leaks because every time I turn around there’s something new right in front of me! And it’s even cooler when they evolve! And don’t even get me started on the amazing music!!! And the exp share isn’t too bad, I don’t feel overleveled at all. Though I still wish you could turn it off.

I’m sorry guys, I can’t hate this. I’m having the most fun I’ve had in months.

I'm not actually going to be using the classic site this time. There's this pretty cool enhancement by Orteil (The Cookie Clicker dev) called Murder Games, which was inspired by the Hunger Games Simulator. Except it's far superior. You can form your own teams, or go at it alone. You can pick your starting weapon, your class, your pronouns, and some additional perks about you. There is no limit to the number of people I can add, so go at it! Each person can nominate themselves and some other person/thing.

People playing it have been pretty positive on the game overall, based on this thread and in other places. The main consensus I've seen is if you weren't a big fan of the 3DS games (I enjoyed them with some hangups), this won't change your mind, but it's hard to screw up the Pokemon formula.

I enjoyed ORAS and Sun/Moon (never played X/Y or Ultra S/M), and I'm generally less pessimistic than most people on the internet, but I don't want to support Game Freak's decisions with Sword/Shield. I don't care about Dexit so much (the Pokemon that you can get in a game without trading has always been arbitrary), but if they can't make a polished game on the same system that has Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, and Ultimate, because they don't care/are too incompetent with their engineering and programming, then I don't think they deserve to sell the game at the same price as those other games. I'm sure the game is, on the whole, fun and enjoyable, but there's no excuse for why they're selling a $60 game that looks less impressive and has less features than the $40 3DS games.

That said, two of my younger siblings bought the game today, including one who I haven't seen buy/play a Pokemon game in years, so I think the general appeal of a console Pokemon game is going to sell gangbusters.

Ok. Here’s a fun exercise. Go down the list of Smash franchises and add as many additional characters from each one that you feel it needs. Not that you want. That you feel is needs. (I know that technically no franchises NEEDS anything but go with me here). I’ll post mine in a sec after I think about it a bit. There is no limit to how many characters you can add.

Here we go.

Mario - Toad, Waluigi and some sort of RPG rep (I guess Paper Mario?)
DK - Dixie (maybe an echo?)
Zelda - Skull Kid or Midna (probably not both) and Impa (but as a sheik echo)
Kirby - Bandana Dee and one of Marx, Magolor, or Dark Matter
Pokemon - a Gen 3 rep, a Gen 5 Rep, a Gen 8 rep, and a spin-off rep. If I had my picks, I would go with Deoxys, Carracosta, Sirfech'd, and Grovyle, as they also rep something else (mythical, fossil, cross-gen evo/regional form, and grass starter)
Earthbound - Ninten
Fire Emblem - Byleth, maybe a SNES era rep?
Sonic - Tails, Eggman
Animal Crossing - Tom Nook, K.K Slider
Mega Man - X or Zero
Mii - Mii Mage, Mii Sportsman

All in all I've gathered a group of friends I can call my own and I'm really thankful for that and despite this place's flaws I'm glad to have stuck around and continue to interact with all of you also don't worry even if you aren't on this list I'm sure I like a lot of you as well. Like Sneakylink, GothFluttershy, Zero Requiem and others I just didn't have enough to say or I just couldn't tag you (*cough* sorry Zero Requiem *cough*) Anyways yeah I'm glad to have had a chance to meet all of you and I look forward to the rest of what this cycle of Smash has for us and what other discussions might happen. My biggest hangup will always be the content in the game itself. I could live with the NatDex cut (I wouldn't be thrilled about it, but I would accept it) if this was a game with as much content as Platinum or Black/White 2. By all accounts, it has even less than the 3DS games, and the region design/handholding is as simplistic as ever. I think GameFreak has just really struggled with 3D development and it's now compounded by the jump to HD and crunched development timetables. Comparatively, it took one weak pair of games (Diamond/Pearl) for GameFreak to learn how to develop for the DS and release a series of excellent games (Platinum/HGSS/BW/BW2).

I dunno. It's just frustrating. I feel like I'm not asking for much but I just can't seem to get it. My expectations are in check and an underwhelming Pokemon game is still more enjoyable to me than 70% of video games, but it just sucks being reminded of the days of gen 4/5 and what we used to have. I kinda feel like I did as a diehard Dragon Ball fan after Super; not terrible by any means, but feels like it's pushing the franchise into a direction I'm not a fan of and that the "glory days" seem more and more out of reach.

I'm not actually going to be using the classic site this time. There's this pretty cool enhancement by Orteil (The Cookie Clicker dev) called Murder Games, which was inspired by the Hunger Games Simulator. Except it's far superior. You can form your own teams, or go at it alone. You can pick your starting weapon, your class, your pronouns, and some additional perks about you. There is no limit to the number of people I can add, so go at it! Each person can nominate themselves and some other person/thing.

Noipoi thanks for being an amazing friend and person on this wild ride of a thread with it's ups and downs you're one of it's consistently good users and someone who I whole heartedly consider a friend. You're funny, Charismatic and an amazing artist and no matter what you want to do for work or your goals in life you're a strong person who I'm sure will absolutely make it big one day be it making your own cartoon or whatever else. Hat N' Clogs as with JD we're not as close as some others on this list but you seem to be a really nice and upstanding person so I gotta give you credit for that on this website there's some weird happenings and weird topics that go on but you're a really down to earth and kind person from what I know so hopefully you stick around for awhile cause we need more people like you.

Guh-Huzzah! You're also very talented and yet another person who've seen the bad and the good this site may offer and I really respect that. All in all I've gathered a group of friends I can call my own and I'm really thankful for that and despite this place's flaws I'm glad to have stuck around and continue to interact with all of you also don't worry even if you aren't on this list I'm sure I like a lot of you as well. I'm a bit disappointed Mii Brawler's projectiles aren't just re-creations of popular projectiles from other fighting game franchises. Only Shot Put. Would've been neat to have a Ghetto Hadoken, Reppuken or Endokuken.
