That is why I’ll be pretty disappointed if RE2 or Links Awakening get nominated. Because it will encourage more developers to just reimagine old games instead of making new ones.

I don't think an award by itself will encourage developers to favor remakes over new games.

But I disagree. You can do a lot more in a remake than just update the graphics, and both of the games you mentioned are good examples.

Honestly, I agree somewhat...
The way I see it, if a remake differs heavily enough from the original(such as Link's Awakening being a from-the-ground up remake) then it should be eligible.
Something like the COD series, or the yearly FIFA releases? nah.

Yeah, pretty much same here. I may do more ****posts here and there, but I think I'll just ignore pokemon content for now.


Although, one thing I do enjoy(surprising) is image editing ****posts. I had no clue that adding text boxes to random images can be so appealing lmao

Depends. RE2 might as well just be a different game with a similar story. They play completely differently. Link's Awakening is just the same game but prettier and way more convenience and polish.

I legit wonder why they went with midi music on the PC version instead of doing FM emulation
Sonic 3 & Knux wasn't really CPU intensive by the time they ported it, they could've easily just relegated FM emulation to the CPU

The thing about most game remakes is that they usually play very differently compared to their original iteration

for example, the original Final Fantasy VII was a Turn Based RPG, the upcoming remake's looking to be an Action RPG

I still classify them as different games despite them having similar narrative and characters.

Like, I've played pokemon games before, and I've even beaten 1(Omega Ruby) but I just don't give a **** about SS enough for me to actively want to talk about it.

He's a jerk of a youtube who is known for spoiling via thumbnail. He also somehow gets games super early, every damn time, so the moment a game launches, ooops! You have just been spoiled on who the final boss is!

I’ve played some of the games, mainly DP and BW, and I’ve been keeping up with the series mainly as a byproduct of many of my friends being big Pokémon fans too. But I don’t really have anything to contribute on SwSh

And I feel like people will get sick of me just constantly asking for help with Pokémon Smash game, so yeah I’m kinda conflicted.
