Well it's my 1,000th post here (on this account specifically) so I guess I'll give out compliments/give props to people here cause I don't know what else would be fitting for my 1,000th post:

@Noipoi thanks for being an amazing friend and person on this wild ride of a thread with it's ups and downs you're one of it's consistently good users and someone who I whole heartedly consider a friend. You're funny, Charismatic and an amazing artist and no matter what you want to do for work or your goals in life you're a strong person who I'm sure will absolutely make it big one day be it making your own cartoon or whatever else. You can do it and I fully believe that. Thanks for being awesome.

@Scoliosis Jones even though I don't always see eye-to-eye with your speculation somehow you always make whatever you speculate about interesting at the very least and that deserves recognition as even though I don't always like what you have to say I do look forward to your huge speculation essays and whatnot. You're really good with them.

@Bolderousness Thanks for always being an awesome, spectacular and an upstanding person you're yet another person who I always look forward to seeing from and I consider you one of my closest online friends so thanks for being an awesome and funny dude. You're smart, funny, charismatic and another oen of my friends here. Thanks for being awesome.

@JDCabrera we're not as acquainted with each other as others in this huge post but you're also pretty cool and even if we aren't as acquainted your posts always deliver something to the discussion and I look forward to seeing you post. You're another great guy and I hope everything goes well for you with discord drama, family issues, you name it I wish you the best of luck.

@Hat N' Clogs as with JD we're not as close as some others on this list but you seem to be a really nice and upstanding person so I gotta give you credit for that on this website there's some weird happenings and weird topics that go on but you're a really down to earth and kind person from what I know so hopefully you stick around for awhile cause we need more people like you.

@Smashing Ramen You're yet another person who I admire and someone who I do consider a friend. You're really fun to hang out with and you're another really respectable person whom I enjoy being around. Thanks for everything you bring to the discussion over these past months and thanks for being a really nice friend.

SnakeFighter64 SnakeFighter64 You may bring some weird discussions around and you may say some odd things once or twice but you're really trying to be the best you can be and I really respect and admire that. You're a very nice person at the end of the day regardless of what said weird things you may say or do once in awhile and deep down I consider you a friend of mine and someone I can rely on when the going gets rough. Thanks for being awesome.

@Taylor F Your passion for Voice Acting is very inspiring and really interesting so I'm absolutely sure no matter what you do or where VA'ing takes you you'll do great. You're also another one of my friends that has been through a lot with me from drama to drama and I'm glad you've stuck around despite all the issues this site may have.

@Guh-Huzzah! You're also very talented and yet another person who've seen the bad and the good this site may offer and I really respect that. You're another one of my long lasting friends here who've stuck around despite it's flaws alongside Taylor and you two definitely have a passion for what you love and do some really great things.

All in all I've gathered a group of friends I can call my own and I'm really thankful for that and despite this place's flaws I'm glad to have stuck around and continue to interact with all of you also don't worry even if you aren't on this list I'm sure I like a lot of you as well. Like Sneakylink, GothFluttershy, Zero Requiem and others I just didn't have enough to say or I just couldn't tag you (*cough* sorry Zero Requiem *cough*) Anyways yeah I'm glad to have had a chance to meet all of you and I look forward to the rest of what this cycle of Smash has for us and what other discussions might happen. Cheers everyone!
Awwww. Your making me blush!

Well... I did a little research... and unfortunately, my provider dropped mobile hotspot usage from my plan...

...I can't play Overwatch. I can't trade Pokemon with anyone... I can't go online with my Nintendo Switch...

I don't know what to do now other than get a router, which costs more money then I have.
Why would your provider be so stupid?

Day 4:
Pauline and Reimu's fingers touch by accident.
They both blush a little bit...

The pile of flesh that used to be Red the Unicycle decomposes silently.

Isaac doesn't really understand what's happening.

Pauline wants to end things once and for all with Ruler of Havoc.
Pauline bites the dust!

ShotoStar wants this to be over already.

Flo aims her handgun in the distance.

Fluttershy loves the way his rocket launcher feels on his shoulder.

Reimu does something really cute.

Penny-Farthing finds a lovely bikini and puts it on!
It's quite revealing.

Golden Frying Pan is only looking out for themself.

Steve feels horrible for failing UtopianPoyzin's Team...

Chronodragon feels strong enough to handle anything.

The pile of flesh that used to be Bobby Lashley writhes with maggots.

Died this round:
Pauline, killed by Ruler of Havoc (duel)

Weird question. Is it problematic in a story to have an alien refugee on earth who needs to keep their identity secret adopt the culture/language/identity of the earth race that they most physically resemble?

No, in fact that's a common cliche. Surprised you didn't know that, honestly.

As far as I am aware of, no. They did something to that effect in Captain Marvel; you can use that as a comparison.

It's fine. SnakeFighter just doesn't want anybody to take the story the wrong way, as in comparing a culture / language / identity to an alien. I understand why she asked that, and it is a fair question imo. But yeah, it should be fine; it's simply a story after all. Unless the aliens are supposed to be "hideous" or something.

Not really.

Case in point: Skrulls.

The idea can work if pulled right.

So all I got left is a Golden Frying Pan huh?

I expect it to die quickly, like my luck in finding one in TF2.

No because there's usually a context to it. Maybe it's that way to explore those exact themes

MY issue is the implication that these alien races have ONE culture/identity without proper explanation. I think TVTropes calls it the "Planet of Hats" and Star Trek is one of the worst offenders of it :yoshi:

Day 5:
Chronodragon is thinking of plans to get out of here.

Reimu gestures angrily towards Ruler of Havoc and Chronodragon with her magic wand.
It seems this switched some of their major organs, Ruler of Havoc inheriting Chronodragon's lungs and vice-versa. They both topple over, dead.

Isaac stares into the distance.

Steve swooshes the air with his sword.

Flo is looking for an easy out.

The pile of flesh that used to be Mach Rider writhes with maggots.

Fluttershy finds a bow and some arrows.
It'll take some practice but this can surely come in handy.

Golden Frying Pan looks around for stuff to scrounge.

Penny-Farthing wearing leather scraps is a sight to behold.

Are you kidding? ShotoStar just found a flamethrower!
See if anyone gets in his way now!

I just don’t want to offend people. It feels fine when you do it with white people, but I wanted to use Starfire in my justice League show as a vehicle to include Latin American culture and actors. The was the DCAU did with Hawkgirl. I have a story in mind to set it up and I think it would be very respectful but I’m just nervous.

Thats common with alien stuff

I almost read that as just refugee without the alien and almost said "thats beyond problematic"

If you want to use Starfire to represent Latin America, make sure you talk with somebody from that culture. You say that it feels fine when you do it with white people, but that's because... if I'm not overextending... that is your race? It feels fine, because you know that as the writer, you can't misrepresent yourself. Offensiveness comes into play when you misrepresent a culture due to not having any background with it, and talking with somebody of that culture to make sure that it isn't offensive and that whatever you include pleases all parties involved. Lack of knowledge causes offensive material, so this would be a great opportunity to educate yourself on different cultures.

Whatever it is, I'm sure it will be fine though.

Some stories do it well with proper explanation. David Weber's "Off Armageddon Reef" for example. It features humanity being nearly wiped out by an alien race that has only one language and culture which as a result stagnated their technology for millennium. As a solution, the remnants of the human race decide to hide on a distant planet and ADAPT THAT SAME STRATEGY by homogenizing all language, culture and technology :yoshi:

The Fossils can't breed, so like, you can't force more of these rejects into the world unless you yourself choose to make them.

REALLY sucks though if they ever make their Hidden Ability available though,

Alright. Pick a winner. No going back. I'm not going to ask who it is, but we are down to four.
