this might be a controversial take, but I feel like we already have all the essential Zelda reps covered.

Zelda doesn't have as many recurring characters compared to something like say, Super Mario or something, and the ones it does have, pretty much just the Triforce holders, already give you the general idea of the franchise's typical structure.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love me some more Zelda characters, but most people feel like it's criminally underrepresented, which I think is a bit far from the case.

I agree with you, honestly. While Zelda is a pretty big franchise, there aren't too many characters you could include that aren't just one off characters. I do think other versions of Link, such as Wolf Link or Toy Link (Or whatever people call him) would be interesting, as it could represent Hyrule's different eras, but I find the chances of that happening very low.

There aren't any specific Zelda characters that need to be playable, but I think Zelda fans are just tired of getting the same characters over and over when there are plenty of other options.

Pretty alright all things considered, been thinkin about different things, and some things I would like to be changed around me. How's it goin for you?

On the previous talk of "reps" for existing series, can I just say that I've been largely fatigued of this term being thrown around in various arguments I've read, even for arguments declaring which characters are the most "iconic" to be picked or which are most "deserving". For as much as I dislike some of his ideas & choices, I greatly admire Delzethin's stance against this mindset of "playing judge" with the roster for who matters & who doesn't.

Pokémon go has some wholesome coustumes coming to the game:

Pikachu dressed as mimikyu is wholesome. Mimikyu wanted nothing more then to be loved like Pikachu and now Pikachu was to dress as it instead.
Also yamask Squirtle is great. Shedninja Bulbasaur is an interesting idea too. Cubone charmander is neat too

Hot take: After a series has gotten at least one rep, any talk about the series needing more reps just for the sake of having more reps is meaningless.

Which is why despite being a huge Zelda fan, I could not care less if it never got another rep. There's characters that would be cool, but no one essential.

Reminder that Rosalina was a part of Sm4sh's project proposal back in 2012, when she'd only been a major player in one mainline Mario game (Galaxy 1), and was an NPC at that.

Based on those parameters, I really don't think Zelda fans are unreasonable for wanting fighters outside the main Triforce trio.

You got a source on that? Regardless I’m sure Sakurai knew of galaxy 2 and 3D World as well as the desire by Nintendo to push her more in future

The only problem I have with Pauline is that I literally see no possible moveset for her

I honestly do.

I can easily see her using the Minis from Mario vs Donkey Kong, the items from the DK arcade, dance moves and even stuff such as tennis rackets.

Mini DK could easily be her Up B which works like a bouncer.

I think Pauline has loads of potential. In fact, I think if she keeps appearing consistently in spin offs, she will for sure be playable in smash 6.

Rosalina's a very interesting case

Her one-off game at the time, Super Mario Galaxy, was one of the most critically games of 2007 (which is quite a feat, mind you), and potentially, all time.

She made her spin-off debut only 5 months later with Mario Kart Wii. That's surprisingly fast. Nintendo was definitely planning big things for her.

We also have had a legitimate reason why Sakurai added her. He liked the concept of a puppet fighter.

Anyways, I feel like one off characters could have a shot, if Sakurai sees Smash potential in them.

I always pictured Pauline's Smash attacks involving her twirl and kick her legs while doing various poses with a microphone stand. Her up-Smash could be Peach's, only she dips her head back more while pulling the mic stand down with her.

Wouldn't mind Sakurai giving Pauline some of Cappy's abilities either by giving her either Cappy himself or another Bonneter. I don't know if he'd go for it, but I think it'd really help her stand out.

- Rep is really annoying sounding to me for whatever reason. It’s just like it says to me, “This person wants a ‘rep’ for a franchise or company and literally does not care who it is, whether for gameplay or because they’re a cool character”

-no character “deserves” to be in Smash: they’re fictional characters created by real game devs. Characters don’t do anything on their own

-no series or characters “need” to be in Smash, especially when we essentially have major characters from every S-C tier Nintendo title.

I’ve been much more gameplay and legacy oriented this time around, and that’s probably why I’m definitely more interested in 3rd party picks. There’s legacies there that haven’t been tapped into, and gameplay ideas that haven’t been necessarily seen before.

I mostly have interest on seeing Pauline in Smash since she is my favourite Mario character.

That and the fact I want to play as her on something besides Mario Tennis Aces that isn't Mario Kart Tour.

Paulina can work,

give her the minis that function like the mecha Koopa, you have her hat spin which could replicate the one in odyssey, a musical spin attack could work, if you want to get really creative she could throw barrels as revenge. Give her a mic drop that causes some knock back.

honestly there’s a decent pool of options that could be really fun to see
