FP thoughts?

Surprised by his appearance, moveset-wise is a bit disorienting that he has a Persona 5 inspired moveset rather than outright pulling it 100% from the game. Still, he is quite a fun to play and love that he has the school uniform as an alt. His stage is a pretty interesting take on the mementos menu and the detail of changing color depending on the track is great, music which by the way is fantastic. Spirit battles were alright and the classic mode was really fun as well. Wish they included his school uniform as well with the Mii costumes.

Having a lot of fun with the Heroes so far, loved the approach of choosing 4 different heroes of the series from different eras. Moveset-wise I like him a lot due to the unpredictability makes him entertaining to fight with. Love the stage and the locations shown alongside getting a mimic hazard, music is a bit disappointing but thats the only downside I have with him. Mii costumes are great although I wished a few more and the Spirit battles were okayish but makes up for it with the Classic mode being based on the first DQ.

They just seem okayish? Not much of a fan of their moveset as it feels kinda lacking at some parts, wish they used more parts of the upgraded moveset of Tooie to make the character a bit more interesting. Stage is nice and music is good as well. Lack of Mii costumes is understandable but still weird and the spirit battles felt underwhelming. Classic mode felt like been here done that, could have used more references to their games.

I've got both first party and third party wants, so I don't really care what direction they're going for in terms of DLC

I'll be a little disappointed if Dixie is denied the chance to join her Rare peers after 2-3 seasons of DLC but I can live with it.

I'm just more disappointed that I'm out of "hype" characters and now I'm stuck with potentially two more years of speculation without a lot left to truly excite me, heh. That's what happens when all of your dreams come true, I guess.

I finished chapter 6 in Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Still figuring out how to recruit people from other classes, but I managed to recruit Shamir, who was a huge help. (if not for a lucky critical hit, she could have beaten the Death Knight without even stepping foot in the room, though it would have taken a few turns - thankfully, I was playing on Casual) I did manage to beat the Death Knight since Byleth seems really over-leveled at this point (level 20 or 21), and I got a seal that should be a major upgrade for Hubert.

Also, I won a fishing tournament. I'm not sure what's with Japan and including fishing in as many games as possible (Zelda, Okami, Sonic Adventure, Yakuza, Pokemon, Final Fantasy 6, One Piece Unlimited Adventure, etc.), but it was a lot easier than most fishing mini-games.

I'm going to need some credible sources on Bandana Waddle Dee's popularity. Sounds like the same argument that could be made for Waluigi, Isaac, or Geno.

The data comes from Source Gaming polls. The Japanese poll I mentioned was referring to this, with a survey size of over 1000. It wasn't a traditional poll, but it was still based on popularity.

Here and here are other polls with BWD at the top. First one has a size of over 2000 and has Dee in the top five. Second one has a size of almost 3000 and has Dee as the second most wanted character (the most wanted was ).

At this point, there are very few first party characters that I would like in Smash. I'm actually hoping for more third parties especially if they are from franchises I've never played to motivate myself to play them.

Truthfully, the last of my first party want characters consists of Impa, Dixie Kong, Elma, Springman, and Isaac/Matthew. While it’s somewhat of a big list, I”’ perfectly fine with waiting or not even getting them. They have at least a better chance of appearing in another Smash game (maybe).

However, I have a laundry list of third party characters that I want included not only for the character but the series they represent. I would say my top five third party picks would be

Vault Boy (Fallout)
Scorpion
Crash
Master Chief
Lloyd Irving

But Diddy's Nintendo logo was and still is a prominent feature. Dixie's Rareware pin was, well...rare.

I'd be slightly disappointed if it was all 3rd party yet again as I feel like there's still a lot of 1st/2nd party characters that Nintendo could get some use out of that would not only make Smash fans happy but help make the roster feel complete.

We could get: - Bandanna Dee to complete the Kirby roster
-Dixie Kong to do the same for DKC
-Isaac to bring in a franchise that feels left out of the roster (Golden Sun)
-Chorus Kids/Karate Joe to do the same but for Rhythm Heaven
-Rex/Pyra to beef up the Xenoblade franchises representation and cause they feel left out
-Elma to do the same and to bring in a new and unique playstyle
-Waluigi cause of fan demand and unique moveset potential

Nintendo's appeal to me has always been their great cast of characters and franchises but we're most likely throwing that away for more 3rd party characters and that makes me a little bit sad.

Granted I don't think 3rd parties are a bad thing at all and I would love for new 3rd party franchises to be added especially ones that I'm actually interested in or have some sort of familiarity with (Rayman, Shantae, Heihachi, Crash, Etc.) like of course Geno! who is my most wanted character but I also think we should get some 1st party characters for variety as both bring stuff to the table that the other cannot do and so I would like for both to be represented.

And if we do get 1st party characters I do expect it to be like 2:1 or a 3:1 turnout which seems fair to me.

Ironically my most wanted character is Maxwell, a third-party. But at this point I'd prefer it if Dee got in. Maxwell has no chance anyway.

Pretty good. I've played Fire Emblem: Three Houses and been dog-sitting for my neighbours for most of the day, I've picked up a few extra hours of work this week, and it just hit home that both The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening and Untitled Goose Game are coming out in less than a week! (I never got to play much of Link's Awakening - I only ever rented it back when video game rentals were a thing, and I don't think I got to the second dungeon)

Given this is roughly 6000 votes out of the millions of people who play Smash, I wouldn't be too sure of these polls. That is less than 1% of the fanbase. Don't think your claim of BWD as a most requested pick is credible, especially if third parties are indeed drawing in new crowds to play Smash Bros. Only just means there's less of a business reason to go for first parties.
