There is literally nothing to suggest that. It's like saying they didn't add Doctor Strange in UMVC3 because he's popular and a significant character, but because they needed another Marvel rep and threw his moveset together.

His move set is based around the investigative elements of the Ace Attorney series and has cameos like Maya, Missile and even the Judge himself. It’s very true to the games if I say so myself

It we're gonna talk about third-party companies, it's best to limit the conversation to "Which 'X company' character do you think is most likely?"

If you think the number of reps in a series doesn't matter, then third-parties shouldn't be any different. There's no reason why Sakurai should force a character in just because of who owns them. Not only is that a crummy way to choose the DLC that a lot of people have already paid for, but it's bound to result in some pretty forced additions.

We're not talking about forcing in a CoD character or something. Bandai Namco has plenty of characters that would make amazing additions to Smash. Tekken has plenty to pick from, as do SoulCalibur and the Tales series. Then there's Digimon, Klonoa, Dark Souls, Dig Dug, heck they practically invented the arcade. It's not a forced decision to include another Namco character. In fact, they probably deserve it.

Namco has some options but they don't compare to Capcom and maybe the characters of other companies are more appealing. Who knows. I think if we get a Namco character it's 100% either Tekken or Tales though.

No offense, but have you actually seen gameplay of Phoenix? His moveset is arguably one of the most coherent and fluent ones in the game, as in everything compliments each other.

Sakurai currently has Lloyd and Heihachi fighting to the death for a spot on the roster in a backroom somewhere at Nintendo HQ.

thought about an edelgard moveset that incorporates gambits/soldiers in a similar fashion to zelda's phantom slash

doubly-keen on this idea because showing off the different classes might actually be about as faithful to the games themselves as something like smash can get instead of just 6 dudes with swords

all it needs now is random crits and hit rates

He was in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

I haven't played much of him in that game, but his moveset seems to revolve around searching for clues, sneezing, throwing papers around, and basically fighting by accident until he finds enough clues to enter a super mode.

I can see why people want him, mainly due to how popular his series is, though I feel like there are a TON of Capcom characters who would be better-suited to an action-focused game like Smash Bros.

Those are my top 2 predictions, as well. It makes sense in multiple instances, but the weirdo in me just likes it for the color pairing, Lloyd=Red and Pheonix Wright=Blue.

Hey have y'all ever looked at Nintendo of Japan's official website? Most of it is not noteworthy, but it has a really cool section dedicated to some of their franchises, with these franchises being Mario, Zelda, Animal Crossing, Kirby, and Fire Emblem. The Zelda and Fire Emblem pages actually have a lot of work put into them, with entire sub-sections dedicated to the series histories and characters.

I kind of find it interesting that the character section for Fire Emblem only lists the characters that are either playable or an assist trophy in smash. It also has an "and MORE" under Corrin, which probably mean absolutely nothing but it's kind of weird. The Legend of Zelda character section seems to separate the 3 Triforce wielders from all the other reoccurring characters.

The other benefit to something like this is showing the "commanding armies" aspect of the FE games, seeing as to how Marth, Roy, Ike and Chrom should all be doing that but instead are presented as, essentially, duelists.

Ehh... Personally, I'm not really enthusiastic about any of these third-parties. Tekken, Tales, and Phoenix Wright are all great franchises, but I can't say I really want a character from any of them in Smash.

Honestly, if we have to have a third-party, I'd prefer a second rep to something like Sonic or Mega Man before anything else.
