Eh, polarizing character ain't nothing new in Smash, just look at or pre-release, or post Fate-release .

Edel seem the better option for me because she has a personality who is more fitting for a fighting game, a weapon that was never use and is in general the "face" of Three Houses you could say, due to how much the marketing put attention on her compared to the other other two. (that, and I think she got a fanbase wanting her in Smash for much longer that Byleth or the others since the first trailer featuring her, and I guess it only got bigger after 3H release)

Of course, if I had to be completely bias, I pick Dimitri in a heartbeat, but good luck winning people's attention with good spaghetti hair boi.

I originally thought a FE or Pokemon character was almost certain for DLC, but now I'm thinking it's unlikely (not impossible, but I don't expect it). With Reggie saying these characters will not be anticipated (lol leaks), the FIghter's Pass model benefiting from new series to bring in new music and stages, and a likely emphasis on third party characters--I feel like there's more going against it than for it. That also doesn't exclude promotional characters outside of the fighter's pass, but I doubt that even more.

Which, if true, I'm happy--my problem with the base game was a lack of new series outside of Splatoon and Castlevania. And I've enjoyed every Fighter's Pass character so far, so I hope they keep that up.

Bernadetta-Bow Knight
Linhardt- Holy Knight
Petra- Falcon Knight
Ingrid- Falcon Knight
Raphael- Fortress Knight (basically nothing hurts him ever)
Leonie- Bow Knight

I could go on, but I’m hyped. Pretty much unstoppable with most units I have thus far. There are others but I don’t want to take up half the page of the thread like I normally do.

edelgard fulfils 3 entirely separate categories of character that smash desperately need more of and is therefore the only logical choice

- Kasumi: Her ghostly hairbones may have floated round Ultimate's code, but IMO that was a sign that something may have been planned but fell through, rather than signs of things to come
- Agumon: Doesn't seem all that likely but maybe I'm underestimating it
- Crash: Probably one of the most likely Western reps, though anything could happen
- Geno: I don't think Geno's ever happening, not because Sakurai's unaware of fan demand, but because Square has different priorities
- Ryu Hayabusa: Perhaps, he's kind of in the 'well he could happen, but he could just as much not happen too'
- Cadence: Would be weird having her as our first indie rep, even with the Zelda crossover; feel like predicting her falls into the 'was recently relevant, so is in' trap, which is the same trap other characters have fallen into; not sure why she'd be our first new Zelda rep in years
- Rayman: God, I wish, but I feel like his lack of presence in Japan hurts his chances a lot

Aside from Crash and maybe Hayabusa, I don't see any of these happening.

- Geno: I don't think Geno's ever happening, not because Sakurai's unaware of fan demand, but because Square has different priorities

Never say never. Ridley was once considered the character who could debunk any rumor because there was no way he'd ever get in. And here we are.

Still, I will point out that Ultimate was probably Geno's best shot. They got the rights to a Mii costume in Smash 4, and Sakurai himself said that he wanted to see Geno get in Smash in some capacity. If he doesn't get in after all that, then that's very discouraging.

I never predicted her before, but she feels like the perfect "Sakurai Pick".

You know, I feel like the final reveals will be overshadowed when revealed by wether or not we are getting a second pass. If they don't give a definitive yes or a definitive no, then that will become the topic of discussion.

But that didn't stop Banjo, did it? I don't think he has too much notoriety in Japan either.

Yeah, as far as the Zelda and FE thing goes, I'm not too huge on either series, but I guess they're fine. I think the fact that Sakurai was getting a little worried about the number of FE characters has me kind of doubting they'll add another one. And among fans, there's already people fighting over that too. And it's not like a new FE character has to happen. I don't really care how much you like Fire Emblem, you can't act like that other people aren't tired of it.

In Zelda's case, unless they had Old-School Pig Ganon, most of their good options are used up in some manner. Skull Kid, Midna and Girahim? AT status. Until we see an AT pull a Chrom, we can't say for sure they'll be in this game. And if anyone else did, it'd probably be Fiora or another Final Smash character. But that's what happens when a series has only a few returning characters, with the rest of said cast rotating in and out.

Also, anyone who thinks Nightmare isn't the mascot of Soul Calibur is kidding themselves. He was literally the logo for Project Soul, and is the logo for Soul Calibur 3.
