So I am definitely coming to this, I miss my Chicago smash homies! Its been a while since I've been to a CoD tournament. I hope the D&D crew will be there so we can smite them with our +6 battle axes. The tournament won't be the same without Kochia/Wise Lugia/Ray Chun LOL.

ya, its a common misconception that you can only bring swiss cheese to the tournament....thats NOTTT the case!

i think swiss is where you just play a bunch of people, and the person with the most wins wins

i'd be fine with scythe's idea though.

swiss is where you pair people off one round at a time, and you play people with the same record as you every round

so first round is total random, second round everyone who wins plays against someone else who won and everyone who loses plays against someone who lost, and so on

it creates a really accurate ranking, but makes the later rounds of the tournament not that exciting

im down for all pools or swiss, triple elimination is really complex i think

it wouldn't be hard. instead of drawing the bracket going in 2 directions like this:

loser bracket _ first round _ winner bracket
<________________||_________________>

draw them all separate like this:

first round _ winner bracket
||______________>

loser bracket
||___________________>

you suck bracket
||________________________________>

Well there's not an entirely new bracket each time you lose.

It's basically a points system. Winning nets 3 points, losing get 0 and a draw gets 1.

All Pools is the most accurate system, but takes the most time. Also has the problem of being anticlimactic. Which is why having a cut-off into a bracket is awesome.

upon reflection, yeah triple elim is not that bad

edit: upon second reflection, it will take some tinkering to get the rounds to work out right

edit3: even when i run swiss rat, i wont run a tourney with draws, nobody is happy about that
