Puff stage: Magikarp Waterfall

At long last: legal Poké Floats. On this stage you fight atop a giant Magikarp as it slides across a whirlpool, with many normal-sized Magikarp also being swept up in the background. This stage is essentially a Final Destination clone with slopes and no hazards - the Magikarp platform faces directly towards the screen and the battle is close enough to Magikarp's mouth that the fins and crown can't be used as platforms. The whiskers wrap around Magikarp's chin, while the eye side has a puddle of water, these allow players to distingish which part of the stage they're standing on.

Falcon stage: Streets of Rage

This stage is basically a flat walkoff, but with a crazy gimmick - you can walk across the Z-axis, just as you would in a beat em up! You can still tap jump, but you need to be a lot quicker when tapping up - however, crouching and in turn down tilts are MIA, though down smash moves and down specials are avaliable. Z-Axis hitboxes are somewhat expanded on this stage

Falcon echo: Dodrio

The polar opposite to Ganondorf - Dodrio are lighter, weaker, and have floatier jumps than Captain Falcon (though their ground movement speed is the same), making them combo powerhouses. All hand moves are now peck moves. The Falcon Punch is replaced with a multihit triple peck, while the grab-based specials are bites.

Puff echo: Igglybuff

Igglybuff is (oddly enough for a baby) heavier and (not oddly for a baby) faster on the ground than the Puff, at the expense of being much less mobile in the air. It's air game is nerfed but it's ground game is buffed. Rest is a healing move instead of offensive, while sing is a single note that's off-tune enough to send foes and projectiles flying. Rollout bounces, giving the otherwise poor air fighter a good tool for dealing with jumpy foes. Essentially an opposite of Jigglypuff.

Puff Echo: Scream Tail

If Jigglypuff is a glass cannon, Scream Tail is a... well, I don't exactly have a term for the opposite of "glass cannon". Anyway, Scream Tail puts a more aggressive spin on Jigglypuff's moveset.
  • Scream Tail is a bit heavier than Jigglypuff, being around the same weight as Meta Knight.
  • Scream Tail is also faster and stronger than Jigglypuff.
  • However, Scream Tail only has three mid-air jumps as opposed to Puff's five, and its aerial mobility is nowhere near as good.
  • Aside from changed properties and more aggressive animations, all of Scream Tail's basic attacks are the same as Puff, with the following exceptions.
    • Dash attack is now a body splash as a small nod to Body Slam.
    • Pummel has Scream Tail bite down on the opponent.
  • Rollout is replaced with Gyro Ball, which acts more like Sonic's Spin Dash. This makes it more reliable and an actually good move.
  • Sing is replaced with Hyper Voice, which has Scream Tail emit a loud, paralyzing screech with more range than Sing. It has more start-up than Sing, though, and just as much endlag.
  • Rest is replaced with Boomburst, a sonic attack with similar "charges up as it goes unused" properties as the Wario Waft. To avoid complete redundancy with Hyper Voice, Boomburst hits in front of Scream Tail as opposed to all around it.

Falcon Echo: Captain Rainbow


For the most part, Captain Rainbow's moveset is pretty much the same as Falcon's (aside from being slightly slower and lighter), but his smash attacks have him use his trusty yo-yo to mimic the Belmonts' forward smash and Ness's up/down smashes, giving him a bit more range than Falcon. His attacks also replace Falcon's fire effects with rainbow effects.

(As for Nick, he'd probably be regulated to taunts and victory animations.)

Segata Sanshiro
The mascot of the Sega Saturn. He plays pretty similarly, but with some grappling and wrestling related moves chucked in. His sound effcets all come from classic sega games. His final smash is him riding on a rocket.

Captain Falcon AT - Appears and does a Falcon Punch - if it hits he'll follow it up with a knee of justice. If it hits multiple fighters, he only targets the one with the most points or stocks using the knee

Puff Special:
Triple Pound
Just like my PK Freeze submission, this one is meant to fix a problem with another move - it's basically Pound but good, a multihit version! This is forward special while regular Pound is back special. Use the two pounds to your advantage and confuse your foe on which you're going to use!

Falcon special:
Drift
Captain Falcon screeches backwards, creating fire beneath his feet that will draw foes to him

Puff Poké Ball:
stands there, menacingly. Get too close and it'll rest on you, breaking through any shield or intangibility - however, the hurtbox is smaller than the Rest in puff's moveset

When summoned, Jigglypuff begins singing her song (with better range than her Up Special), putting enemies to sleep. After singing, she then rolls over to another area of the stage before singing again. After repeating this a few times, she falls asleep and vanishes.

Puff Special: Defense Curl (Back)

This special is designed to help Jigglypuff with her lacking defenses. When used, Jigglypuff curls up and spins in place for about two seconds, gaining heavy super armor in the process. However, she lacks a hitbox in this state. You can also cancel out of the curl with a special button input, allowing her to punish moves she tanks.

Peach Stage - Mount Volbono


This stage is mostly like Battlefield, but as you can see, the solid platform that takes up the majority of the stage is a little wider. That's because a pot of stupendous stew is cooking in the middle of the solid platform. It is a liquid, but it's too shallow to swim in. So characters can just walk through it.

Wouldn't walking through boiling hot stew damage a fighter? Well initially, no. It's still in the process of cooking and it hasn't reached a temperature that high yet. Key word being "yet".


Much like Green Greens with its Apples, this stage will spawn an exclusive item. This image displays them as the Luncheon Kingdom's Regional Coin, but in reality they're the crystalized ingredients you would see in the Luncheon Kingdom while playing Mario Odyssey.

These will spawn even if items are turned off (again, like the apples in Green Greens) and act as a throwing item. A pretty weak one at that. They don't deal much damage or knockback at all, and they break when they hit a fighter.

But remember, these are ingredients. The true purpose of them is to throw them in the pot of stew. After a certain point in time the stew will start to boil. Which will deal non-flinching burn damage to any fighters in it overtime.

But if a player has thrown an ingredient into the pot, then it will instead act as an overtime heal for that player. Players that have this effect active will know it because their colored arrow of "P1" or "P2" and so on will start pointing to the stew. The player is healed for 1.8% damage every 2 seconds as long as they’re in the boiling stew.

When the pot is done boiling, the ingredients are used up. Meaning a player will have to throw another ingredient in the pot before it starts boiling again to get the healing effect.

Peach stage: Rhythm Rally

This is specifically based on Rhythm Rally 2, with the cake theming.

Red = soft platform, blue = ping pong paddle.
The ping pong players will hit every beat of the song chosen for the stage, one after the other, which deals damage and reflects any projectiles - which song plays on the stage will determine the difficulty of playing on it! The soft platforms also bounce up with every 5th note, and will start bouncing down when they go too high

Daisy stage: Maple Tree

This course has been renamed because the stage is designed to no longer be recognisable as a race track. You fight atop a tree, with branches from the taller, neighbouring trees serving as hard platforms. It has this layout, with a chance of being mirrored.

The most notable hazards on this stage are 1. leaves falling in front of the battle, the leaves are quite big and thus cover up a decent portion of the screen - they don't have any direct effect other than distraction though, and 2. daytime rain showers. When it starts to rain, the ground becomes slippery everywhere except below the branch and below the tree. Right before the rain shower stops a rainbow will appear, which ends the slipperiness but also makes the branches temporarily break - with them eventually regrowing in a mirrored formation. The leaves do not appear during the rain shower.

Small Peach

I will get a small variant character in if it kills me. Small Peach is lighter and weaker than Peach, but also even more mobile. She doesn't have a float, since she doesn't really need one.

I'll try to submit my take on Bowser's Castle and a Bowser and/or second (third?) Peach echo later

Daisy Stage - Daisy Circuit


Daisy must really be thrilled to be in love. Because this stage circles around the statue of her and Luigi. The platform that Daisy herself is standing on is a solid platform, while the platforms occupied by the other 3 princesses are passable platforms.

Of those passable platforms, the ones on the sides move up and down, while the center one moves left and right. This is mirrored after how the platforms at the end goal of a level in Super Mario Land move about. You could also say the moving of the passable platforms, as well as how all the platforms circle around the statue of Luigi and Daisy, are dancing. You know, since the main attraction of this location is the dancing statute?

However the platforms will pause their dance every once in a while at 4 specific locations.

Said locations will feature another notable aspect of the Daisy Circuit Course in the background.


The first displays some of the buildings to the sides of the race track, most notably the building with the shortcut jump at the beginning of the track.

When the camera focuses on this area, Tatanga will sometimes appear at the right side of the stage to shoot a Fireball out of his ship that will split into 3 smaller fireballs and travel across the stage. He does not shoot the fireballs as often as he does during his boss fight in Super Mario Land and he is not guaranteed to appear during this part. There is only a chance of it happening.

As he is directly interacting with the stage though his ship will serve as a hard platform. Just make sure you’re not on it when he leaves the screen.


The 2nd location that platforms could stop at displays the entrance to the tunnel in the background. Like with Tatanga in the previous location, a boss from Super Mario Land will play a role here as well.


This time that boss is King Totomesu. He will come running out of the tunnel and jump into the stage in a pouncing attack. The area he aims for is chosen at random and you won’t be able to tell where he’s pouncing until he’s close to landing the attack.

But like with Tatanga, he doesn’t always appear when this section is active. It will only happen sometimes. As you have probably figured out by now, all the sections that involve a boss from Super Mario Land will only sometimes have that boss appear.



The 3rd section the platforms can stop at displays the Daisy Cruiser out at sea. This time the boss is Hiyoihoi. Who will be chucking boulders onto the stage from the Daisy Cruiser.

Those first 3 sections can be randomly arrived to at any point during the match. However the 4th and final section can only be accessed by a specific method. So before we go over that section, we need to cover how to get to it in the first place.

The statue of Luigi and Daisy dancing is placed on a fountain. And at any point during the match, regardless of which section you’re in, a Yurarin Boo can randomly jump out of the fountain and into the air.

The Yurarin Boo doesn’t attack. It only serves as an enemy to defeat. And it only takes two hits to do so. Once the Yurarin Boo is defeated, the next section that will be transitioned too is the 4th and final section.


That section is the lighthouse. The reason this one has such a specific requirement to access is how it alters the bosses that can appear in the stage.

A Snifit was Daisy’s default partner in the duel mode of Mario Party 3 and one of them will appear with a patch of grass on top of the lighthouse.

Said patch of grass is based on the ones you pluck items from in Super Mario Bros. 2, which is the Snifit’s debut game. The Snifit will pluck a stopwatch out of the ground and said stopwatch will give off a white flash that laters certain aspects of the stage.

To signify that these changes are active, the statue will change into one of Baby Luigi and Baby Daisy dancing instead of the adult versions.

In a similar vein, instead of the bosses appearing during their specific sections, they will now be standard (but similar) enemies from Super Mario Land with weaker attacks.


Gao’s pounce is weaker than King Totomesu’s


The rocks Tokotoko throws aren’t as powerful


And Rocketon shoots out one bullet biff at a time. Bullet Biff’s are like miniature Bullet Bills and aren’t as strong as Tatanga’s fireballs.

The stage will remain this way until the lighthouse is accessed again so that Snifit can pull out another stopwatch. The method for accessing the lighthouse remains the same.



Except for the fact that you have to defeat Dragonzamasu this time. He actually fights back by shooting fireballs when he appears. And he takes 3 hits to defeat instead of 2.

Bowser Stage - Paper Castle

Based on the first Paper Mario where Peach’s Castle is on top of Bowser’s Castle, Paper Castle will have 8 different sections to it. 4 from Bowser’s Castle, and 4 from Peach’s Castle. Each section will feature a single Star Spirit working together with a single partner from the original Paper Mario to perform a unique action.

The Star Spirits and Partners are always in the background. So while there is technically a chance that the unique action will not be performed, the odds of it not occurring are low.



The stage will always start on 1 of 2 specific sections out of the total 8. One of them is right outside the door to Bowser’s Castle. The Star Spirit and Partner for this section are Kalmar and Goombario.

Kalmar will raise up a bunch of stars from the bottom of the screen every once in a while. They’re at a kind of inbetween with being easy to dodge and being hard to dodge, though they are a fairly weak attack.

Goombario vanishes whenever Kalmar does this, and that’s because one of the stars has a chance of poofing out to reveal Goombario. Who then proceeds to fall down in a headbonk attack which is slightly more powerful than the stars.

Whenever the stage transitions to a new section, it does so via the screen moving in from the right hand side. Exactly like it does in the intro cutscene of Paper Mario.


The 2nd section has no bottomless pits. Just a lava river.



Anyone who is familiar with the classic Metroid stages knows how this lava works. Though occasionally, flows of it will fall down from the top of the screen. Not as powerful as the lava eruptions in Norfair mind you. Same strength as the lava on the floor. Just harder to avoid.

Unless of course you get some help from Bow. She will fly in from the background when the lava fall is about to start. Make contact with her and you’ll become transparent (and still able to move and fight like normal). This makes you immune to the lava falls, but other players can still damage you like normal.

As for Muskular, he’ll sometimes freeze the lava. Cooling it down to a point of where you can walk on it. During which the stage becomes a walk-off.

Do keep in mind that this is cooled lava. Not Ice. So there’s no ice physics.



The next section is in the cave that you need to light up to be able to see what you’re doing. Hence why Watt is here.

Skolar will rain down his Star Storm attack. Which is stronger than Kalmar’s stars, but they don’t take up the whole stage.

They fall in a set pattern. Though there are a few patterns to be chosen from at random.

Also at random, Watt will electrify the stars. Making them a bit more powerful and of course giving them the electric effect.

In case you’re wondering, the spikes at the bottoms of the soft platforms are just for decoration. They don’t have a hurtbox.


The final Bowser’s Castle section is just a simple walk-off. The only notable thing that happens here is Kooper using his Dizzy Shell attack to dart across the screen. Which does stagger a fighter in addition to doing damage if it hits them. He’ll often Zigzag back and forth. But since he’s using Dizzy Shell he will eventually make himself Dizzy and proceed to return to the background.

Unless of course Eldstar uses Refresh to cure Kooper of his dizziness. He doesn’t always do this, but the chance that he will is always there so don’t let your guard down.



This is the other section the stage could start in. Right outside the door to Peach’s Castle instead of Bowser’s.

The unique action for this section is that Bombette will jump in from the background to walk around for a bit, then unleash a big explosion. But she will only do this after Misstar has empowered Bombette with healing abilities.
Meaning instead of doing damage, Bombette’s explosion heals anyone in its radius. By a notable amount too. Usually at about 15%.


Next up we have the hallway where Mario first fights Bowser in both the game's opening and in the final chapter. Despite being a hallway, there are holes at the sides of the floor. So this section is not a walk off.

Sushi will use her Squirt attack to shoot a blast of water at fighters. Sometimes Klevar will stop time for this water blast. Making it sit in the air for a bit before it resumes its path. Even when frozen in time it still has a hurtbox. So don’t make contact with it.


The staircases that come after Mario defeats Bowser with the Star Beam make up the next section. They do go all the way to the edges of the screen, but there are holes in the walls. So you don’t have to rely only on Star KO’s to knock someone out. Speaking of which, there is a hole in the ceiling as well.

Lakilester, oh sorry, Spike will produce clouds to travel along the ground and attach themselves to a fighter. You can shake them off by moving, jumping, and attacking, but if you leave them on too long you’ll fall asleep.

Mamar can use her Lullaby to make anyone a cloud is attached to fall asleep faster.


There may only be 7 Star Spirits, but Twink plays more than an important enough role to join the final partner for the final section.

As you can tell, it’s a pretty standard Final Destination type of section. And given the simplicity of this area, Twink and Parakarry keep their unique action simple by dashing and shell shooting to randomly chosen areas. Obviously this functions as an attack that hurts any fighter it hits. Damage and Knockback are substantial enough to where you should be careful if you’re at a really high percent.

This should pass for a Bowser's Castle stage right?

Echo Fighter - Wart

Sensible as Dry Bowser is and tempting as Midbus was, I ultimately decided to make Wart the Bowser Echo. He's faster and lighter than Bowser and his Neutral B uses a Bubble Breath instead of a Fire Breath. The Bubbles rise up into the air after Wart breathes them out. Giving them a trickier hitbox.

Also, would you mind specifying what Wart's equivalents to Bowser's shell moves are? Great submissions thus far otherwise!

My Bowser's Castle submission will be based on Super Mario RPG, specifically the opening chandilier battle.

The background is a composite of many Bowser's Castles, with a very red lighting and tons of enemy and stage element (climbing walls, bill blasters, roto-discs, e.t.c.) cameos in the background - the stage begins with the chandilier falling, once it reaches the lava a chain chomp will grab the stage to lift it up and the lighting turns to a hopeful blue... but once it seems to reaching the open skies (don't question why a chandilier seems to be attached to the sky), it will fall again. The stage layout is one designed for competitive play, having a moving platform in a pendulum pattern similar to Project M Green Hill Zone.

Bowser echo: Baby Bowser

Bowser but tiny, faster, and weaker, he's still pretty heavy though and keeps the Tough Guy super armour. His design is closer to his design from the early Yoshi games to distinguish him from Jr. He even gets a Baby Giga Bowser form for his Final Smash!
(I was originally gonna submit Venustoise for this, heh, but Baby sounds better from a playstyle perspective)

second Peach echo: Vampire Daisy

Is stronger and has four jumps + a Brawl glide side special like Steve's up special with no offensive use - however, she's also lighter than the already light Daisy, she doesn't have a float, is slower both in ground movement and attack speed, and her wings make her a bigger target. Redesigned slightly - her hair and clothes are darker by default, her dress has new gothic patterns, and she's got little fangs and sharp fingers, unlike her MP8 design. Her grab pummel is a bite, where coins come out like Mario's up special

I mean, given that it's a golf themed Bowser Spirit I feel like favoring back specials still fits regardless of what it ends up being.

As for the shell moves on Wart, the Up Smash I think can work as is. He'll just be thrusting his back up at an opponent which would probably make the attack weaker. Down Aerial shouldn't be too hard either. Just have Wart bring his arms and legs closer to his torso as he spins down.

For the Whirling Fortress, honestly it's probably better if Wart pulls a Chrom and uses a different characters Up B. Something similar to the Super Dedede Jump should work out fine.

Bowser Echo: Ganon

The great king of evil's more beastial form makes an appearance, bringing a more source-faithful Ganon to the fight while keeping the Falcon-clone Ganondorf around for his fans!

Changes are as follows:
  • While Ganon lacks Bowser's Tough Guy armor, he is a few units heavier, finally ending the Koopa King's reign as the roster's heaviest fighter.
  • Ganon's dash attack mirrors Bowser's from Melee and Brawl, being a running headbutt.
  • All of Ganon's smash attacks make use of a trident, being much different than Bowser's smashes.
    • Forward Smash is a trident stab, matching up with Bowser's dropkick.
    • Up Smash has Ganon spin his trident above his head as the tips become engulfed in flames, being a single hit.
    • Down Smash has Ganon stab his trident into the ground, creating a shockwave around himself. This smash is the one most derivative of Bowser's down smash.
  • Ganon's Neutral Air has him spin his trident rather than cartwheeling, mirroring Palutena's nair. It's a single hit, though, like Bowser's nair.
  • Ganon's Down Air has him thrust his trident downwards (although this isn't a stall-and-fall). This can still spike, and mirrors the dair of his nemesis, Link.
  • Ganon's Forward Throw is the same as Bowser's, but uses the horns of his shoulder guards.
  • Ganon's Up Throw is a toss upwards followed by a trident stab.
  • Ganon's Neutral Special is a chargable trident thrust, similar to Ike's Quick Draw.
  • Ganon's Up Special is a rising command grab similar to Ganondorf's Up Special.
  • While Ganon's aerial Down Special is the same as the Bowser Bomb, the grounded version has him stomp the ground hard enough to trip anyone on the same platform as him.
  • Ganon's Final Smash is the same as Bowser's, with him transforming into a large, shadowy boar as a nod to the game over screen of Zelda II.
Probably the most derivative of my echoes so far (changing 10 of Bowser's 24 moves), but most of them at the very least mirror Bowser's and have similar hitboxes.

I'm not going to veto the submission, and I generally try to avoid asking questions like this, but are you sure the mostly-flat SNES version of Rainbow Road is a good fit for a Delfino-style travelling stage?
I think it could work, you can have a few dropoffs (maybe staying a little longer in each one) such as using to Mario Kart Arch as a platform, a couple areas with the rainbow thomps one to avoid them and another to deal with the rippling waves they cause. Another area could be the spot where there is a jump and the left & right split leaving a center gap.

I know you can probably get more off of another Rainbow Road but I for some reason prefer the pixely / simplistic aesthetic of the very first one.

Peach Echoes

Lady Dimitrescu (Resident Evil)



She would be a taller and Heavier peach with no float mechanic and is slower

All Magical attacks are replaced with her big claws
Side smash is also replaced with her claws

He'd play pretty similarly to Bowser. The only big change would be any fire related moves being replaced with him blasting water from his cannons, kinda like Fludd.

Peach Stage - Mount Volbono


This stage is mostly like Battlefield, but as you can see, the solid platform that takes up the majority of the stage is a little wider. That's because a pot of stupendous stew is cooking in the middle of the solid platform. It is a liquid, but it's too shallow to swim in. So characters can just walk through it.

Wouldn't walking through boiling hot stew damage a fighter? Well initially, no. It's still in the process of cooking and it hasn't reached a temperature that high yet. Key word being "yet".


Much like Green Greens with its Apples, this stage will spawn an exclusive item. This image displays them as the Luncheon Kingdom's Regional Coin, but in reality they're the crystalized ingredients you would see in the Luncheon Kingdom while playing Mario Odyssey.

These will spawn even if items are turned off (again, like the apples in Green Greens) and act as a throwing item. A pretty weak one at that. They don't deal much damage or knockback at all, and they break when they hit a fighter.

But remember, these are ingredients. The true purpose of them is to throw them in the pot of stew. After a certain point in time the stew will start to boil. Which will deal non-flinching burn damage to any fighters in it overtime.

But if a player has thrown an ingredient into the pot, then it will instead act as an overtime heal for that player. Players that have this effect active will know it because their colored arrow of "P1" or "P2" and so on will start pointing to the stew. The player is healed for 1.8% damage every 2 seconds as long as they’re in the boiling stew.

When the pot is done boiling, the ingredients are used up. Meaning a player will have to throw another ingredient in the pot before it starts boiling again to get the healing effect.

I couldn't think of any Echo Fighters for Peach and I think it's best to save the Peach Spirits I thought of for when we get to new palettes for Peach. Since most of the spirits I thought of used new Palettes.
Peach stage: Rhythm Rally

This is specifically based on Rhythm Rally 2, with the cake theming.

Red = soft platform, blue = ping pong paddle.
The ping pong players will hit every beat of the song chosen for the stage, one after the other, which deals damage and reflects any projectiles - which song plays on the stage will determine the difficulty of playing on it! The soft platforms also bounce up with every 5th note, and will start bouncing down when they go too high

Daisy stage: Maple Tree

This course has been renamed because the stage is designed to no longer be recognisable as a race track. You fight atop a tree, with branches from the taller, neighbouring trees serving as hard platforms. It has this layout, with a chance of being mirrored.

The most notable hazards on this stage are 1. leaves falling in front of the battle, the leaves are quite big and thus cover up a decent portion of the screen - they don't have any direct effect other than distraction though, and 2. daytime rain showers. When it starts to rain, the ground becomes slippery everywhere except below the branch and below the tree. Right before the rain shower stops a rainbow will appear, which ends the slipperiness but also makes the branches temporarily break - with them eventually regrowing in a mirrored formation. The leaves do not appear during the rain shower.

Small Peach

I will get a small variant character in if it kills me. Small Peach is lighter and weaker than Peach, but also even more mobile. She doesn't have a float, since she doesn't really need one.

I'll try to submit my take on Bowser's Castle and a Bowser and/or second (third?) Peach echo later


Palettes are generally officially added after the character's spirit submissions close, though if you add a spirit and think a later piece of content fits it you can ask me and I'll revise it.
Daisy Stage - Daisy Circuit


Daisy must really be thrilled to be in love. Because this stage circles around the statue of her and Luigi. The platform that Daisy herself is standing on is a solid platform, while the platforms occupied by the other 3 princesses are passable platforms.

Of those passable platforms, the ones on the sides move up and down, while the center one moves left and right. This is mirrored after how the platforms at the end goal of a level in Super Mario Land move about. You could also say the moving of the passable platforms, as well as how all the platforms circle around the statue of Luigi and Daisy, are dancing. You know, since the main attraction of this location is the dancing statute?

However the platforms will pause their dance every once in a while at 4 specific locations.

Said locations will feature another notable aspect of the Daisy Circuit Course in the background.


The first displays some of the buildings to the sides of the race track, most notably the building with the shortcut jump at the beginning of the track.

When the camera focuses on this area, Tatanga will sometimes appear at the right side of the stage to shoot a Fireball out of his ship that will split into 3 smaller fireballs and travel across the stage. He does not shoot the fireballs as often as he does during his boss fight in Super Mario Land and he is not guaranteed to appear during this part. There is only a chance of it happening.

As he is directly interacting with the stage though his ship will serve as a hard platform. Just make sure you’re not on it when he leaves the screen.


The 2nd location that platforms could stop at displays the entrance to the tunnel in the background. Like with Tatanga in the previous location, a boss from Super Mario Land will play a role here as well.


This time that boss is King Totomesu. He will come running out of the tunnel and jump into the stage in a pouncing attack. The area he aims for is chosen at random and you won’t be able to tell where he’s pouncing until he’s close to landing the attack.

But like with Tatanga, he doesn’t always appear when this section is active. It will only happen sometimes. As you have probably figured out by now, all the sections that involve a boss from Super Mario Land will only sometimes have that boss appear.



The 3rd section the platforms can stop at displays the Daisy Cruiser out at sea. This time the boss is Hiyoihoi. Who will be chucking boulders onto the stage from the Daisy Cruiser.

Those first 3 sections can be randomly arrived to at any point during the match. However the 4th and final section can only be accessed by a specific method. So before we go over that section, we need to cover how to get to it in the first place.

The statue of Luigi and Daisy dancing is placed on a fountain. And at any point during the match, regardless of which section you’re in, a Yurarin Boo can randomly jump out of the fountain and into the air.

The Yurarin Boo doesn’t attack. It only serves as an enemy to defeat. And it only takes two hits to do so. Once the Yurarin Boo is defeated, the next section that will be transitioned too is the 4th and final section.


That section is the lighthouse. The reason this one has such a specific requirement to access is how it alters the bosses that can appear in the stage.

A Snifit was Daisy’s default partner in the duel mode of Mario Party 3 and one of them will appear with a patch of grass on top of the lighthouse.

Said patch of grass is based on the ones you pluck items from in Super Mario Bros. 2, which is the Snifit’s debut game. The Snifit will pluck a stopwatch out of the ground and said stopwatch will give off a white flash that laters certain aspects of the stage.

To signify that these changes are active, the statue will change into one of Baby Luigi and Baby Daisy dancing instead of the adult versions.

In a similar vein, instead of the bosses appearing during their specific sections, they will now be standard (but similar) enemies from Super Mario Land with weaker attacks.


Gao’s pounce is weaker than King Totomesu’s


The rocks Tokotoko throws aren’t as powerful


And Rocketon shoots out one bullet biff at a time. Bullet Biff’s are like miniature Bullet Bills and aren’t as strong as Tatanga’s fireballs.

The stage will remain this way until the lighthouse is accessed again so that Snifit can pull out another stopwatch. The method for accessing the lighthouse remains the same.



Except for the fact that you have to defeat Dragonzamasu this time. He actually fights back by shooting fireballs when he appears. And he takes 3 hits to defeat instead of 2.

Bowser Stage - Paper Castle

Based on the first Paper Mario where Peach’s Castle is on top of Bowser’s Castle, Paper Castle will have 8 different sections to it. 4 from Bowser’s Castle, and 4 from Peach’s Castle. Each section will feature a single Star Spirit working together with a single partner from the original Paper Mario to perform a unique action.

The Star Spirits and Partners are always in the background. So while there is technically a chance that the unique action will not be performed, the odds of it not occurring are low.



The stage will always start on 1 of 2 specific sections out of the total 8. One of them is right outside the door to Bowser’s Castle. The Star Spirit and Partner for this section are Kalmar and Goombario.

Kalmar will raise up a bunch of stars from the bottom of the screen every once in a while. They’re at a kind of inbetween with being easy to dodge and being hard to dodge, though they are a fairly weak attack.

Goombario vanishes whenever Kalmar does this, and that’s because one of the stars has a chance of poofing out to reveal Goombario. Who then proceeds to fall down in a headbonk attack which is slightly more powerful than the stars.

Whenever the stage transitions to a new section, it does so via the screen moving in from the right hand side. Exactly like it does in the intro cutscene of Paper Mario.


The 2nd section has no bottomless pits. Just a lava river.



Anyone who is familiar with the classic Metroid stages knows how this lava works. Though occasionally, flows of it will fall down from the top of the screen. Not as powerful as the lava eruptions in Norfair mind you. Same strength as the lava on the floor. Just harder to avoid.

Unless of course you get some help from Bow. She will fly in from the background when the lava fall is about to start. Make contact with her and you’ll become transparent (and still able to move and fight like normal). This makes you immune to the lava falls, but other players can still damage you like normal.

As for Muskular, he’ll sometimes freeze the lava. Cooling it down to a point of where you can walk on it. During which the stage becomes a walk-off.

Do keep in mind that this is cooled lava. Not Ice. So there’s no ice physics.



The next section is in the cave that you need to light up to be able to see what you’re doing. Hence why Watt is here.

Skolar will rain down his Star Storm attack. Which is stronger than Kalmar’s stars, but they don’t take up the whole stage.

They fall in a set pattern. Though there are a few patterns to be chosen from at random.

Also at random, Watt will electrify the stars. Making them a bit more powerful and of course giving them the electric effect.

In case you’re wondering, the spikes at the bottoms of the soft platforms are just for decoration. They don’t have a hurtbox.


The final Bowser’s Castle section is just a simple walk-off. The only notable thing that happens here is Kooper using his Dizzy Shell attack to dart across the screen. Which does stagger a fighter in addition to doing damage if it hits them. He’ll often Zigzag back and forth. But since he’s using Dizzy Shell he will eventually make himself Dizzy and proceed to return to the background.

Unless of course Eldstar uses Refresh to cure Kooper of his dizziness. He doesn’t always do this, but the chance that he will is always there so don’t let your guard down.



This is the other section the stage could start in. Right outside the door to Peach’s Castle instead of Bowser’s.

The unique action for this section is that Bombette will jump in from the background to walk around for a bit, then unleash a big explosion. But she will only do this after Misstar has empowered Bombette with healing abilities.
Meaning instead of doing damage, Bombette’s explosion heals anyone in its radius. By a notable amount too. Usually at about 15%.


Next up we have the hallway where Mario first fights Bowser in both the game's opening and in the final chapter. Despite being a hallway, there are holes at the sides of the floor. So this section is not a walk off.

Sushi will use her Squirt attack to shoot a blast of water at fighters. Sometimes Klevar will stop time for this water blast. Making it sit in the air for a bit before it resumes its path. Even when frozen in time it still has a hurtbox. So don’t make contact with it.


The staircases that come after Mario defeats Bowser with the Star Beam make up the next section. They do go all the way to the edges of the screen, but there are holes in the walls. So you don’t have to rely only on Star KO’s to knock someone out. Speaking of which, there is a hole in the ceiling as well.

Lakilester, oh sorry, Spike will produce clouds to travel along the ground and attach themselves to a fighter. You can shake them off by moving, jumping, and attacking, but if you leave them on too long you’ll fall asleep.

Mamar can use her Lullaby to make anyone a cloud is attached to fall asleep faster.


There may only be 7 Star Spirits, but Twink plays more than an important enough role to join the final partner for the final section.

As you can tell, it’s a pretty standard Final Destination type of section. And given the simplicity of this area, Twink and Parakarry keep their unique action simple by dashing and shell shooting to randomly chosen areas. Obviously this functions as an attack that hurts any fighter it hits. Damage and Knockback are substantial enough to where you should be careful if you’re at a really high percent.

This should pass for a Bowser's Castle stage right?

Echo Fighter - Wart

Sensible as Dry Bowser is and tempting as Midbus was, I ultimately decided to make Wart the Bowser Echo. He's faster and lighter than Bowser and his Neutral B uses a Bubble Breath instead of a Fire Breath. The Bubbles rise up into the air after Wart breathes them out. Giving them a trickier hitbox.

My Bowser's Castle submission will be based on Super Mario RPG, specifically the opening chandilier battle.

The background is a composite of many Bowser's Castles, with a very red lighting and tons of enemy and stage element (climbing walls, bill blasters, roto-discs, e.t.c.) cameos in the background - the stage begins with the chandilier falling, once it reaches the lava a chain chomp will grab the stage to lift it up and the lighting turns to a hopeful blue... but once it seems to reaching the open skies (don't question why a chandilier seems to be attached to the sky), it will fall again. The stage layout is one designed for competitive play, having a moving platform in a pendulum pattern similar to Project M Green Hill Zone.

Bowser echo: Baby Bowser

Bowser but tiny, faster, and weaker, he's still pretty heavy though and keeps the Tough Guy super armour. His design is closer to his design from the early Yoshi games to distinguish him from Jr. He even gets a Baby Giga Bowser form for his Final Smash!
(I was originally gonna submit Venustoise for this, heh, but Baby sounds better from a playstyle perspective)

second Peach echo: Vampire Daisy

Is stronger and has four jumps + a Brawl glide side special like Steve's up special with no offensive use - however, she's also lighter than the already light Daisy, she doesn't have a float, is slower both in ground movement and attack speed, and her wings make her a bigger target. Redesigned slightly - her hair and clothes are darker by default, her dress has new gothic patterns, and she's got little fangs and sharp fingers, unlike her MP8 design. Her grab pummel is a bite, where coins come out like Mario's up special

Bowser Echo: Ganon

The great king of evil's more beastial form makes an appearance, bringing a more source-faithful Ganon to the fight while keeping the Falcon-clone Ganondorf around for his fans!

Changes are as follows:
  • While Ganon lacks Bowser's Tough Guy armor, he is a few units heavier, finally ending the Koopa King's reign as the roster's heaviest fighter.
  • Ganon's dash attack mirrors Bowser's from Melee and Brawl, being a running headbutt.
  • All of Ganon's smash attacks make use of a trident, being much different than Bowser's smashes.
    • Forward Smash is a trident stab, matching up with Bowser's dropkick.
    • Up Smash has Ganon spin his trident above his head as the tips become engulfed in flames, being a single hit.
    • Down Smash has Ganon stab his trident into the ground, creating a shockwave around himself. This smash is the one most derivative of Bowser's down smash.
  • Ganon's Neutral Air has him spin his trident rather than cartwheeling, mirroring Palutena's nair. It's a single hit, though, like Bowser's nair.
  • Ganon's Down Air has him thrust his trident downwards (although this isn't a stall-and-fall). This can still spike, and mirrors the dair of his nemesis, Link.
  • Ganon's Forward Throw is the same as Bowser's, but uses the horns of his shoulder guards.
  • Ganon's Up Throw is a toss upwards followed by a trident stab.
  • Ganon's Neutral Special is a chargable trident thrust, similar to Ike's Quick Draw.
  • Ganon's Up Special is a rising command grab similar to Ganondorf's Up Special.
  • While Ganon's aerial Down Special is the same as the Bowser Bomb, the grounded version has him stomp the ground hard enough to trip anyone on the same platform as him.
  • Ganon's Final Smash is the same as Bowser's, with him transforming into a large, shadowy boar as a nod to the game over screen of Zelda II.
