Stage submissions are closed!
DK Rap Studios

Similar to Hanenbow in Brawl, this stage can only play one song: the original N64 DK Rap. We will handle the song to replace it on Kongo 64 when or if it gets voted in. The stage resembles the dark void the DK rap is sung in in DK64, it appears as a Final Destination clone with walled platforms with not much in the way of aesthetics outside of a turntable and kong crowd in the background, but different hazards appear in time to the song

“If you know the words, you can join in too”: Subtitles appear and can be used as platforms, the platforms disappear once the chorus starts

“He’s finally back to kick some tail” a giant DK foot kicks the stage, making it slanted

“His coconut gun can fire in spurts, if he shoots ya’, it’s gonna hurt” a coconut gun appears in the background, it fires a giant coconut into the middle of the stage in tune to the words “spurts”, “ya’” and “hurt”. The stage becomes even again around the words “can fire”

“He’s bigger, faster, and stronger too” all fighters become bigger, faster, and stronger too. This lasts throughout the chorus until this line in Tiny’s verse:

“She can shrink in size to suit her mood” all fighters become smaller, lighter and weaker - however their mobility improves further beyond what they had when big.

“And climb up trees” palm trees appear on the side of the stage, serving as walls to prevent horizontal KOs. Fighters grow back to normal when the chorus starts.

“Stretch his arms out, just for you” the trees disappear and the stage expands to have walkoffs.

“Inflate himself, just like a balloon” the balloon from the DKC2 lava stages flies in, moving horizontally from one blast zone to the next and being usable as a platform. Once the chorus starts, the stage shrinks back to its original size.

“He can fly real high with his jetpack on” the platform disappears and fighters are suspended in air and can only use air and special moves, sorta like they have a rocket belt with unlimited fuel. This lasts for the entirety of Diddy’s verse and ends come the chorus

“Can pick up a boulder with relative ease, makes crushing rocks seem such a breeze” A boulder is thrown onto the stage, damaging anyone caught or crushed by it - Chunky’s fist immediately smashes the boulder, creating a noticeable dent in the stage.

“He may move slow, he can’t jump high, but kong’s one hell of a guy!” Fire obstacles rain onto the stage as fighters become slow, making them harder to avoid.

“Come on Cranky, take it to the fridge!” Both of the Chunky phases (dent, fire, and slow) end, but the stage becomes slippery with ice and food items spawn extremely often, this lasts until the end of the song, where the DK64 pause menu plays for 30 seconds while platforms appear in a layout similar to the Melee Adventure Yoshi stage (two tilted soft platforms) to give players time to catch a breath before the song starts again. The intermission form is the stage’s form with hazards off.
Storm Hill
I’ll admit, I never played jungle beat and am submitting this because there’s a song in smash called battle for storm hill. But I do think it could be pretty interesting since unless I’m mistaken, there’s not really a stage so far with this aesthetic.
Couldn’t really find a picture for the layout I’m thinking of but there would be a flat rocky surface with a big podium in the center. The podium gives you some stage control but it will occasionally be struck by lightning in a random place on it, referencing everyone’s favorite donkey kong level, lightning lookout.
Stage: Timber's Island
This stage is a travelling stage, with the main platform being a plane from Diddy Kong Racing. Smaller planes will occasionally fly in from the sides to serve as temporary platforms. All the planes will turn when approaching bends in the road.

As for where the stage goes, the match begins in the hub (with the plane flying through the golden gate to enter the next area)...

Then to Ancient Lake...

Frosty Village...

Pirate Lagoon...

Haunted Woods...

and finally, Wizpig Strikes Back. After leaving this area, the stage returns to the hub.
Criteria: Submit a character who has previously appeared as a boss in a mainline game. Bosses who were playable in spinoffs (such as Petey Piranha) are allowed.

Donkey Kong Stage:
View attachment 347574
Toybox (DK: Jungle Climber)
This stage takes place in the mysterious Toybox dimension. Players will stand on a large platform made of toy building blocks, not unlike the Battlefield and Omega forms of Living Room. The layout essentially matches hazardless Wily Castle. Instead of floating platforms, there will be pegboards. Characters can grab these like ladders, but unlike ladders, they can move in any direction while climbing instead of only up and down. Also just like ladders, players can use any aerial attacks while climbing without affecting their altitude.
Promnt: Submit an RPG character. Right now we only have Geno. Feels like an obvious thing to add.

Mario Vs Donkey Kong
A stage concept I'm pretty surprised Smash itself never did. A sort of scrolling stage that takes place during a game of Mario vs DK. Traps will open up and close as the mini marios do their thing. The Mini Mario's can be thrown at opponents, but doing so may effect the course of the match as you may have needed that Mini. There is both a glass land version and a classic construction site verison.
Criteria: Submit a Swordfighter or character who acts like a swordfighter

Stage:

Donkey Konga

This stage would take place on the track in which the beats appear, The beats will travel along this flat stage and you take damage if you are hit by one, You can destroy one to get a quick buff. Occasionally a second track will appear that you can jump on top of. The bottom half of the stage can show various DK Characters jamming along.
  1. DK Rap Studios
  2. Storm Hill
  3. Timber's Island
  4. Toy Box
  5. Mario vs. Donkey Kong
  6. Donkey Konga
Please vote for your top 3

Criteria submissions are also closed
  1. A character who originates from a non-platforming game
  2. Submit an obscure character
  3. Submit a non-clone duplicate character
  4. Submit a character who has been a boss
  5. Submit an RPG character
  6. Submit a character who functions like a swordfighter
Note when voting that Stanley and Vivian are disconformed.

This vote will go on until Friday, so it will be done on Strawpoll. You can vote for up to 3 and it isn't ranked

Submit a passive ally contact!

Please submit an Assist Trophy that doesn't primarily deal damage or knockback - this can be a healing ally, cosmetic distraction, or even a status inflicting threat!

Submit taunt and victory animations for Funky Kong and Diddy Kong!

Please submit 4 taunts (up, down, back, and forwards) and/or 4 victory animations for Diddy and/or Funky

Passive AT: Crazee Dayzee

Crazee Dayzees are flower-like enemies in the Mario series, best known for their role in the Yoshi's Island games.

Their behavior as an Assist Trophy is inspired by their appearances in Paper Mario; They will aimlessly wander around the stage, occasionally stopping to sing a tune which puts nearby fighters to sleep.

Diddy Taunts:
  • Up: Diddy tosses his cap in the air, winking at the camera before it lands back on his head. References his victory animation from Donkey Kong Country.
  • Left: Diddy stands up and poses while hissing.
  • Right: Diddy spins one of his Peanut Popguns in his hand, which goes off and hits him in the head with a peanut.
  • Down: Diddy claps his hands above himself.
Diddy Victory Animations:
  • Diddy dances with sunglasses and a boombox on his shoulder before dropping the boombox and posing with his arms crossed.
  • Diddy readies his Rocketbarrels, but they fly off without him, leaving him sitting on the floor with a confused expression.
  • Diddy performs a breakdance before posing with a one-hand handstand.
  • Diddy does a simple dance before flipping his cap up and having it land on his head.
Funky Taunts:
  • Up: Funky performs a brief handstand on his surfboard.
  • Left: Funky performs Donkey's dab from MK8. (sorry for taking wario x3's idea it's just too perfect)
  • Right: Funky beats his chest just like DK, but isn't as aggressive about it. Also, he makes this noise.
  • Down: Funky polishes his surfboard with a banana peel.
Funky Victory Animations:
  • Funky performs a breakdance before jumping up and landing with his arm flexed, referencing a victory animation from Mario Super Sluggers.
  • Funky spins in with his surfboard before landing and posing.
  • Funky does a flip in the air before landing with a thumbs-up.
  • Funky simply chugs a bottle of Banana Juice before giving the camera a cocky grin.

Would you mind providing a 4th victory animation for both?

Submit victory themes for all veterans!

Yep, we're doing this. Please submit a list of victory themes to be voted on in batch for the following fighters.
  1. Mario
  2. Luigi
  3. Peach
  4. Daisy
  5. Bowser
  6. Bowser Jr.
  7. Koopalings
  8. Shadow Mario
  9. Rosalina & Luma
  10. Piranha Plant
  11. Dr. Mario
  12. Donkey Kong
  13. Arcade DK
  14. Diddy Kong
  15. King K. Rool
  16. Yoshi
  17. Yarn Yoshi
  18. Wario
Fighters can share victory themes both within a job and between multiple submissions. Please provide a timestamp or timestamps for the portion(s) of the song sampled. Unless from an earlier Smash game all songs will be remixed - however, we will be leaving the specific sounds of those remixes down to the imagination for the most part, so it would be prefered to provide the original songs unless you find a remix that is specifically a fanfare or you absolutely need that remix to convey the style of your fanfare. any future different-character alts after Arcade DK, Shadow Mario, and Yarn Yoshi - as well as all clones - will be handled later. Extended victories like Cloud or Sephiroth are allowed.

These will be voted on in batch, but you do not have to provide all fighters' victories - when we get to voting, the second most popular will fill the blanks for all unentered victories should an incomplete list win.

Costume submissions for Daisy and Geno will close soon, as will the polls on stage modifications. DK stage voting will remain open slightly longer than usual, but not as long as the fighter voting. A new stage job will open soon, alongside the obvious music job.

Here's my Geno submission. The Fawful alt doesn't have the special face

Please vote here on Geno alts

WarioWare stage music votes are closed, Cashregister9's lists win by removing my vote in the draw.

In terms of stage modifications
  • Shy Guys will no longer appear on Peach's Birthday Cake
  • By removing my vote in the draw, Mushroomy Underground keeps its ceiling
  • Paper Enemies will cause havoc on Paper Mario 3DS!
  • I forgot what my vote for Luigi's Mansion was, however my current opinion is that the jumpscares are a bad idea... therefore meaning jumpscares win the tie!
  • Gamer layout selection is now avaliable!
  • Triangle bumpers disappear on the Hazards Off version of Waluigi Pinball!
Funky and Diddy animations will close soon.

Submit song lists for 3D Land and/or Mario Bros!

Please submit a list of 4 songs for 3D Land and/or Mario Bros. Try to consider whether or not your Mario Bros. songs would be better fit for Mario Clash, because we can't move them later!

A stage job will open soon.

Submit a stage from one of the "disowned" Mario projects!

Please submit a stage based on a Mario product that Nintendo don't like to tie to their brand currently. Some examples would be
  1. Hotel Mario
  2. Most pre-2010s commercials
  3. Mario Teaches Typing
  4. Saturday Supercade
  5. White Knuckle Scorin'
  6. Mario is Missing!/Mario's Time Machine
  7. Mario's Early Years
  8. The Great Mission to Rescue Princess Peach
  9. The DiC cartoons
  10. Fast food toys
  11. The DKC Cartoon
  12. King Koopa's Kool Kartoons
  13. Nintendo Comics System
  14. The microcomputer and pre-NES home ports of Mario games
  15. Donkey Kong elements from Captain N: The Game Master
  16. Mario Ice Capades
  17. The Super Mario Challenge
  18. La Planeté de Donkey Kong
  19. Super Mario Bros. The Movie (1993)
Note that stages based on more explicitly mature or edgy material, like Super Hornio Brothers and the US Yoshi's Island commercial, will not be allowed. More recent non-game projects (Super Nintendo World, Illumination's Mario movie, Wreck-It Ralph) will also not be allowed with the sole exception of Adam Sandler's Pixels (though you'd only be allowed to use Donkey Kong content for a Pixels stage, no Centipede/Pac-Man/Q*Bert) - that being said, if the Illumination Mario movie trailer releases within our development or DLC cycle I hope to do a job specifically for it which will probably be a stage.

You are allowed to incorporate fanon-made YTP elements to your stages within reason. No Dr. Rabbit or IM Meen cameos, but I may allow a Harkinian or Morshu here and there.

Stage submission:
Morton's wood door Hysteria Hotel.

(Original concept belongs to Butters Stotch Butters Stotch , so Shout-out to him)
Stage:

Rather than a new Zelda stage, you're getting yet another Mario stage. This is an obscure one, Morton's Wood Door Hysteria Hotel! It's an exact recreation of the original Hotel Mario, a classic just as iconic as the Zelda CD-I games, stage.

Functions as the Nintendog does. Is Yarn for the sole purpose of being cuter. Will still disconfirm regular Poochy if added.

I will allow this submission under the condition that the detail of the platforms being hard is removed (so the last sentence "Making this stage even worse better is that doors and elevators are the only way to go to and from floors, as none of the platforms, despite how thin they are, are drop-downs."), as that was an idea only added for the sake of making the stage annoying.

I will be submitting Cranky’s Cabin from the DKC cartoon.
ACE42156-672F-4427-BB05-6D7A18C15594.jpeg

The stage layout is similar to Final Destination, with the wooden walkway around the cabin serving as the main hard platform with the top of the two roofs serving as additional “soft” platforms. However, the main draw of this stage comes in the form of Barrel Springs, which can appear in certain areas of the stage and launch fighters in the opposite direction on touch. While they can be annoying, they can also be used for recovery purposes.

Stage: Dinohattan

An unusually moody and dreary stage filled with neon lights and propaganda - this would be the hazards off Pokémon Stadium 2 equivalent, fighting on a bridge overlooking the Koopaganda and shadowed by the eyesore skyscrapers.

Reminder to vote for DK stages if you haven't already!

I had a Dinohatten stage typed up but oops (Wario's pitch is better anyway)

Mario Brothers Plumbing
Takes place inside the home / office of the Mario Brothers from the live action segments from the Super Mario Brothers Super show. Players fight in the middle on that checked flooring, but are are as a number of things that can be used as platforms and hazards, ladders, oil drums, that bathtub with a plant in it. Every now and then the door in the background will open, revelling a cameo. These all come from episodes of the show. Obi-Wan Cannoli? Here. Frankenstein's Monster? Of course. Elvis? You bet.

  11. Dr. Mario: Versus victory. Extended. The beginning fanfare is remixed but the loop is unedited 8 bit from the Game Boy
  12. DK: His Melee victory
  13. Arcade DK: DK NES Title. Begins at 0:06
  14. Diddy: Stage clear from DKCR. Not looped and ends at 0:08 (has an extra beat like Banjo's instruments victory for boombox victories)
  15. K. Rool: K. Rool Returns. Begins at 0:04, stops at 0:07 to cut to 0:33
  16. Yoshi: Story music box in similar style to the existing victory. Starts at 0:08 and ends at 0:13 to cut to 0:23
  17. Yarn Yoshi: Story music box in similar style to the existing victory. Starts at 0:08 and ends at 0:13 to cut to 0:23
  18. Wario: Rice Beach in a similar style to the existing victory. Starts at 0:03 and stops at 0:07 to cut to cut to 0:14

Submit a Cappy-related modification to Mario's moveset!

Please submit a modification or replacement to a single move that would bring Cappy into Mario's moveset! This can be cosmetic or functional. This will not disconfirm future modifications to Mario's moveset - however, for the sake of Mario's archetype I will be laying a few ground rules
  1. Cappy can only be a projectile if he replaces Fire Ball or FLUDD
  2. No capturing in any form. I may allow exceptions for throws.
  3. Cappy can only have one major function - so Mario can't both throw Cappy as a projectile and jump off of him, nor can he both throw Cappy as a projectile and reflect projectiles with him. You have to choose one or the other. Something more simple like say, an attack that also slows falling, is fine.

Cappy Tornado (replaces FLUDD)

Mario Tornado is back in the Special slot, and it's got disjoint power thanks to Cappy! Mario's pre-Brawl dair would also return because of it (hey, it says "a single move that would bring Cappy!")

Disowned Content: Rapper Mario's Stage

From the JPN Super Mario Pinball commercial. You fight where Mario's standing in the ad, and if hazards are on, then giant mechanical semi-spheres will occasionallly slam into each other on random parts of the stage, potentially insta-KO'ing you.
I'm sad that DK Rap Studios lost the DK stage vote, so here's another minimalist and meme-worthy submission. Unlike that stage, this one would have multiple music tracks, preferably all Mario rap songs like the SMBSS theme and Practice Makes Perfect.

Cappy Move: Cap Toss (Netural B)
I know it's a bit controversial to get rid of the iconic Fireball, but hopefully I can make my reasoning clear.
Mario tosses his cap forward, Cappy's eyes appearing as he does so. Cappy will stay in place at the length of a BF platform from Mario for two seconds before returning. If Cappy touches an opponent at any time between being thrown and coming back to Mario, Mario will instantly snap him back on in a quick motion, like how Terry snaps back his cap in Fatal Fury. The toss is much faster than Fireballs, but the long hitbox makes up for that. Mario touching the hat while its hovering in place will just lead to him putting it back on immediately. Hitting an opponent has the same effect as them being hit by a Fireball.
Speaking of which, ever since I was a kid I was annoyed that Mario could shoot fireballs in Smash without a Fire Flower (ignoring his Fire Mario alt). I'm not as bothered by it anymore but it still feels odd. Also, he already has his forward smash which is a pretty iconic move at this point and can be representative of Mario's fire. That is all.

This job was really fun as I had no idea some of these things existed.

Although I wish I could forget King Koopa's Kool Kartoons, And most attempts at a Live Action Bowser.

Anyways

Mario Ice-capades

This would be a very simple stage, It would be a slight clone of Boxing Ring from Ultimate, The ring itself is a slightly larger FD and the lights and ropes are gone. The Ring would have Ice Physics the outer portions would not, the Background on the rink would switch between the different types of sets featured in Mario's Ice capades. Goombas, Koopas and Hammer bros. would also skate around the background. Outside of the rink you can see an audience.

FazDude wins Funky's taunts, while I win Diddy's.

Stage subs are closed
Stage submission:
Morton's wood door Hysteria Hotel.

(Original concept belongs to Butters Stotch Butters Stotch , so Shout-out to him)
I will be submitting Cranky’s Cabin from the DKC cartoon.
View attachment 347815

Of course. Elvis? You bet.

By removing my self-vote, I can officially add FazDude's victory themes!

Yarn Poochy will be added as an ally contact, this means all versions of Poochy are disconfirmed for being playable.

Submit a Classic Mode!

Please submit a formula for Classic Mode to run off of. Is there a plot? Is there a boss or bosses? Can you select routes? Do characters have specifically themed classic routes?
