Yep, it’s the latest creation thread!
A while ago I started a creation thread about making a fighter’s pass 3 for super smash bros ultimate. Now after that thread finished up I think I’d like to make a bit of a successor to that thread but with a bit of a twist: a fighter’s pass for “fourth party” AKA characters who debuted in something that isn’t a videogame.

Does that mean I think smash should include non-videogame characters? Not really, but I do think it would be interesting to speculate on what it would be like if it did happen. I’d like us to do the character, stage, music, alternate costumes, moveset, spirits, and classic mode route of ten challenger packs in a hypothetical pass.

So if you’re interested, you’re welcome to submit things for jobs when the time comes! Just keep one big rule in mind: While this is focused on non-videogame characters this will still be focused on characters who had/have an influence on videogames, so if you submit a character they have to appear in at least one videogame and have enough to make a moveset out of. Content from their original source such as music is eligible but I would like you to also include at least one thing created for videogames whenever you submit content.

So that’s pretty much it. Here’s all the content we have:

8. Part 4, purple jacket and hat (reference to Josuke)

Star Platinum is green in the first and second last alt. Any of them where he’s in his part 4 or 5 design have Star Platinum with silver armor instead of gold.

Moveset:
Jotaro’s moveset would use the Stand Meter as it works in JoJo’s Venture and All Star Battle. So pretty much, he by default has Star Platinum behind him helping him out with attacks, but he has a meter next to his HUD. If he takes damage, the meter will deplete and if it is completely depleted he will be stunned. However, there is a way to regenerate stand meter and that is by using down B to turn off Jotaro’s stand. When his stand is off his moves will be changed and be weaker. Pressing down B again will turn his stand back on. I think this would be a good way to give him some strategy since battles in JJBA are always won with strategy.

As for his moves, most of his normals are pulled from JoJo’s Venture. Only thing I wanna point out specifically that the iconic Star Finger attack would be his forward tilt where he points his finger forward and towards the ground and extends it.

Neutral Special: Ora Ora Rush
Star Platinum stays in place and for a couple of seconds repeatedly punches forward. During this time you can’t do any other moves that involve SP.

If SP is off he will still appear specifically for this move but it’ll be much weaker.

Side Special: Blazing Strike
SP and Jotaro slide forward and SP does a heavy punch.

Like Jotaro’s neutral special,If SP is off he will still appear specifically for this move but it’ll be much weaker.

Up Special: Blazing Flight
A yellow aura goes around Jotaro and he shoots directly up. If SP is out he’ll go much higher.

Down Special: Stand On/Off
Turns his stand on or off.

Final Smash: Star Platinum, The World
SP freezes time and punches forward. If this hits, it leads into a cinematic where SP repeatedly punches the opponent and then does one big punch to hit them away

Job #1: Submit A Character For Challenger Pack 1
Submit what you think should be the character for our first challenger pack. Please submit a character who debuted in something other than videogames, but also has some appearances in video gaming. Please submit a character, explain a bit about how they would fight, and why they should be in smash ultimate. Do keep in mind that they would likely have to be someone people would get very excited for as the first non videogame character.

Bugs Bunny

Befitting a lawless prankster, Bugs Bunny breaks the rules and gets into Smash (must've finally took the correct turn at Alberquerque!)

Bugs would most likely be a trapper fighter who uses a variety of projectiles and platforms with moving parts that can interact in crazy ways if the player is smart (look up a Pac-Man montage and you'll know what I mean)

Looney Tunes' history in gaming isn't exactly grand, but some beloved titles such as Sheep, Dog, and Wolf; Bugs Bunny: Lost in Time; Porky Pig's Haunted Holiday; and the many great Tiny Toon Adventures games have come out of it. now i think about it buster would probably make more sense from a gaming perspective but still

I’m gonna just do the obligatory goku submission lol. It’s a bit obvious why he would be picked so I don’t think I really need to explain it but pretty much he has a really long history with videogames, has interesting moveset potential and is probably the most requested non videogame character for smash.

Quick question: will Nickelodeon characters be elegible? I'm probably not gonna submit any because of NASB but given how SpongeBob is usually ol' Kakarot's second fiddle in discussions like this someone's bound to submit him.

Good question, probably should have addressed that sooner: Yes they would be eligible and people are allowed to take inspiration from NASB for their movesets. I’ll make one specific rule though: if we add a nickelodeon character who is playable in NASB we wouldn’t be able to just do a straight up conversion of their moveset with an added side b to this game.

Job #1: Darth Vader (Star Wars)
07212216-F761-4FB6-83CE-C4CEA1716673.png

Star Wars is one of the highest grossing film franchises of all time. The film series has spun off into tv shows, books, comics, and video games. There have been many popular Star Wars video games over the years, including Star Wars: Battlefront, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order, etc.

Darth Vader is one of the biggest main characters of the entire series, from a young slave boy that wanted to see the galaxy to a broken man that has nothing left, but the desire to rule the galaxy. His legend still lives on after his death with his grandson who followed in his dark footsteps. He has been in a countless number of popular Star Wars video games over the years. Vader has even been a fighting game guest character in Soulcalibur IV.

Darth Vader would use his lightsaber and the power of the dark side, he wouldn’t hold back. He could dodge projectiles with his lightsaber, and turn his own weapon into a spinning projectile (like a boomerang). He could use the force the lift fighters, choke fighters, and push fighters and projectiles back. My fun idea for a final smash would be sending fighters into a cutscene with a rising Death Star in the background to shoot it’s iconic laser. Darth Vader is just an unstoppable force you wouldn’t want to mess with.

Vader’s appearance would definitely cause a lot of hype, just imagine fans watching a Darth Vader reveal trailer.

Question for the future, are real people eligible? I kind of want to submit Tony Hawk. Anyways...

James Bond
1634750968021.png
James Bond is a British Secret Agent and extremely iconic character all around.

Bond is (to my knowledge) the only 4th party with any major effect on the smash series, being considered in Melee and the inspiration for the "Motion-Sensor bomb." I think being the first 4th party would be fitting only for Bond for his Smash history.

Even though there hasn't been a game in a while, the N64 game "GoldenEye 007" is still one of the most influential games in the shooter genre so Bond also has a legacy in gaming.

Bond has both history in Smash and Gaming, plus he would be a cool fighter because of his secret agent gear.

I have another NASB question, and I feel this applies to CNPTE as well: will it be allowed to directly "port" stage layouts from other platfighters over into the pass? Like, if we added Ren & Stimpy we could just reuse the layout for Space Madness or Powdered Toast Trouble; or if we added Ben 10 we could reuse one of the Ben 10 stages from PTE? (they didn't have names for some reason)

I’d like us to do the character, music, stage, alternate costumes, moveset, spirits, and classic mode route of ten challenger packs in a hypothetical pass.

And here’s Job #1 of this thread:

Job #1: Submit A Character For Challenger Pack 1

Well... here's my own take - a weird pick, but one that I genuinely think would blow up the entire Smash community.

Character #1 - Gru.

As much as I really, really wanted to submit Megamind, I'm pretty sure that this is the character Nintendo would choose... as long as there's a focus on the Minions - and yes, there is. The idea behind this is simple - a zoning/puppet character, with Gru himself utilising a series of different attacks from across the Despicable Me universe (such as the Fart Gun and Freeze Ray) and the Minions being able to go out as a Luma-like character, though with different attacks such as the Lava Lamp Gun and such.

Why, though, would I submit this? Simple. Aside from wanting to watch the world burn, I think that Nintendo would want at least one animated character - and Illumination would likely be far easier to work with than, say, Disney, or even Dreamworks to an extent... so yeah. Despicable Me's Gru & the Minions.

Well... here's my own take - a weird pick, but one that I genuinely think would blow up the entire Smash community.

Character #1 - Gru.
I have unleashed a great, unspeakable power.

Unironically though, Gru would be rad in a platfighter - both with or without Minions.

Yeah, that would be allowed.

Well anyway here are the options for the character of challenger pack 1. Please vote for your top three most wanted in order. You can only put your own submission in second or third place.

Well, here are the results of the voting for the first job:
Bugs Bunny 3
Goku 15
Darth Vader 7
Spider-Man 9
Mickey Mouse 9
James Bond 24
Gru 5

And so our first character will be James Bond! Here's our next job:

Job #2: Submit A Stage For James Bond
Submit what you think should be the stage for James Bond. Please submit a location and a layout.

Also, this isn't related to job 2 but just so everyone knows we will decide what version of james bond to use when we do alternate costumes. I'll just put the pierce brosnan version on the first post because that's the version in goldeneye on n64 but that's subject to change when we do the job.

Job #2: The Bunker (Goldeneye 007 (N64))
1634771951691.png

A long walkoff stage featuring three walls that are evenly spaced apart from each other. These walls can be passed by jumping over them or by using a dodge roll to perform a unique sneaking sidestep animation that sends you around them. Enemy Guards may appear sometimes and search the area...if they see any fighters, they'll begin to open fire, and thus become enemies that must be killed as in the SSE or Smash Run. If the fighters properly hide behind the walls on the stage, the Guards won't see them.

this may suck, but it's my attempt at making a stage for a game I've never played so take that how you will
if anyone else can come up with a better design based on this location i won't be offended

Well, since I haven't played GoldenEye nor watched a James Bond film, I guess I'd second the vote for the Bunker stage.

And well, I didn't get to vote my characters. Do we have to wait to finish the James Bond idea before voting on the second character?

Sorry I closed up the job before you got a chance to vote, anyways yeah we do all the jobs for James Bond’s challenger pack before moving onto the next one. I know a lot of people might not be familiar with the series but that’s just a downside of this thread. If you’re not really interested in this pack can come back when the next challenger pack is happening. Thanks.

Volcano Lair (You Only Live Twice)

Wanted to do a stage from something other than Goldeneye. Felt a villians lair would be a good idea since it's such a huge part of the imagery of Bond.

This stage takes place in the lair of the criminal mastermind Ernst Stavro Blofeld, situated in the middle of a volcano. Players fight in the middle of the base, there is a couple of platforms. There are laser traps that can be activated and sometimes a trap door will open, dropping fighters into a pit of hungry piranhas.

Various Spectre goons are at work in the background, players can see the rocket seen above. A large screen is at the back of the stage, and will sometimes turn on, with Blofield himself watching the fight, stroking his iconic cat.

Considered submitting Drax's space station from Moonraker but I felt it proablly wasn't a good representation of Bond as a whole.

A Modern Bond rep, The stage would take place on top of the manor, and you can break holes into the ceiling and walls to enter the lodge. In front of the lodge would be one of many Aston Martin's that Bond has driven throughout the years

Job #2

Location Name: Cable Car (Rio de Janeiro)
Location Origin: Moonraker (1979)

1634846458708.png

Acting as a reinactment of one of Bond's most exhilarating fights with one of his most iconic adversaries - Jaws - this stage would take place atop the dual cable cars present in the fight itself. Over time, the cable car may move up or down, and the second one might be there on the other side - with Jaws himself on it as a Flying Man-like stage hazard. Both can be used as platforms, but as with other, similar stages, the layout will shift over time too.

I imagine that it would be possible to drop down inside the cable cars too! However, there'd be a gimmick in that the cable cars can only be entered or exited through the top - which means that despite being a smallish stage, it's quite possible to box people in... or use it to your advantage and perhaps even save a stock!

  1. Volcano Lair (to be honest I mainly want the content to focus on the Pierce Brosnan era of Bond since GoldenEye 007, the game that's the main reason James Bond was even picked, is centered in that era. But the Volcano Lair is just such a cool concept for a stage, disappointed I didn't think of it first and I actually hope it wins, every other stage I think it good though but congrats on the idea Darkonedagger)
