Official Smash Ultimate Discussion

Almost one month has passed since release. In retrospect....

  • This is by far the best Smash ever. Like, I don't even know how they will top this.

  • Pretty freakin' good; I have a few qualms over things like internet play, balancing issues, etc.

  • It's ok, but [insert Smash game here] is better.

  • I'd rather play Parcheesi.

Are you sure?
Not violent enough.

The spikes for the MK stage could be designed similar to the ones in The Great Cave Offensive, and that actuallly fits the brutal nature of MK better.

I prefer Scorpion over Wright mostly for the stages that could come with the character.

If both didn’t come with one, then i could easily pick Wright over Scorpion.

You see, people want Lloyd and Heihachi just becouse they played their games.
But I believe they will use more creative characters.

Nobody wanted Joker, they even talked a lot of **** to the people who supported him. Where are those people now?
You get all cry baby when people say that Agumon isn’t creative or a good choice. But really Lloyd and Heihachi have more depth than Augumon.

I was only talking about the acid part, there is a reason I quoted that part.

"It has spikes but they act like danger zones" sounds really boring, tbh.

Personally, its not "just because they played their games" as my reason for wanting them in Smash, but there are other reasons in which other people including myself in which they would like to see a specific character playable for Smash. For example, Heihachi is one of the most iconic antagonists within the Tekken series ever since Tekken 1 and his character and personality is the reason why I would like to see him in Smash. In addition, I would love to see him take on Ryu within the game (like a battle of Tekken Vs Street Fighter.)

As for Joker, initially I had a feeling that they were possibly going to include a rep from Atlus in which I did not have a clue back to which character I would pick back then. But when Joker was unveiled, it was a surprise and I was very happy for him (considering that I had already played the Persona 5 game on the PS3.)

For me Bandai will not put Lloyd, simple fact: Heavy Sword user again.
Heihachi is literaly another Ryu but he has less moves to use. So no.

They have so much more to use, not talking just about Agumon.

Agumon, Klonoa, Kos-Mos, Don-chan, Cosmos Prince, Mametchi. Dig Dug, etc
Lloyd is not a heavy sword user. He uses two swords, and would be literally nothing like any other sword user already in Smash.

I get you would prefer Agumon, but don’t start saying unique picks would be too similar just because of that. Literally just say you would prefer Agumon lol.

I like Joker because he kind of looks like me.

I would like to see Leon Kennedy in Smash too.

What would make Heihachi stand out mechanically?

I've played a lot of Tekken but outside of having maybe a parry I don't see anything? \

Not taking up for anyone by the way just questioning.

Honesly, i don’t know what to say.

Tekken games usually play in 3D, and i can’t find a way to translate his stuff to Smash outside of the electric powers.

Unless they take a lot from PSASBR.

Tekken is a crazy complex fighting game to the point where most characters have a novel-long movelist, and it doesn't play like any other fighting game out there. Said complexity is why Sakurai initially passed on Heihachi in Smash 4, but if done right he could be an interesting character.

The main reason Sakurai shyed away from Heihachi was because he didn’t think he could make him work. Tekken is more of an arena fighter compared to Street Fighter, which is a 2D Fighter. Ironically Heihachi was included in PSASBR, so i’m not sure specifically what Sakurai was referring to, but that’s that I suppose.

I haven’t played Tekken, but to my knowledge I don’t think he’d be much of a Ryu clone. They aren’t alike afaik.

So I'm actually enjoying Century Smash much more than I used to in previous games. I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that I can play it on any stage now, so it's nut just the same battlefield over and over. It's amazing how much difference the stage aesthetics and song make. I even went then and assigned each character to their own stage (mostly by series, but I also took into account how unique the setting is, how much I like the stage in general and matched everyone to a unique stage). And even though I spent fully two days getting the music right, I wanted to make sure that each played my favorite song by stage.

Scorpion in Smash would be amazing

Scorpion v. Ryu is all anyone would do.
These are my dream matches that haven’t happened yet:

-Mario vs Sonic vs Crash.
-Mario, Link and Pikachu vs Crash, Cloud and Snake.
-Scorpion vs Ryu vs Heihachi
-Bowser vs Eggman vs Cortex
-Sora vs Link

The last time Pac-Man ever made a genuine reaction/face expression
I see that you want to forget that certain show too.

I can understand why.

If we're gonna talk dream matches that have to happen...

I want to see Sonic's little fox BFF!

Also, I'd really like to see Dovahkiin vs. Link or Simon as well.

Ike vs. Soul Calibur's Nightmare would also be a battle for the ages

Care to elaborate? I can't really see what's so creative about him by his design alone.
It may not be the reason behind his point, but maybe the way Digimon creatures mutate in the games and shows is involved.

Unlike a Pokémon, the Digimon can change between its evolution and the basic form at any moment they want to, which could be translated in a cool way on the moveset if done right.

No. But two people supporting him since E3 is not Plenty as well.
Make it three, then.

That doesn't explain what's so creative about it, it's just Mega Evolution.

Oh yeah, I completely forgot about that. So much for me being a Digimon fan.

The difference is that a Pokémon Mega Evolution involves the Pokémon holding its respective Mega stone (is that what it’s called?) with the sole exception being Rayquaza I think. Digimon can Digivolve into their champion/ultimate/mega forms at any time.

Anyways, if there were any other fighting game characters I would like to see playable in Smash, I would like it to be between SNK's Kyo Kusanagi, Terry Bogard or Athena Asamiya.

One of the most interesting things about Smash fans is how absurd arguments against certain picks are, simply because they aren’t the ones they specifically wanted.

It’s not my fault, or anyone else’s, that people don’t have the experience of playing different games and don’t know enough about the characters they say “wouldn’t be unique”.

Like if you don’t know enough about the character then don’t talk **** about them. It’s not that hard. Ask more about them, and if you still have a preference, just say it.

Only reason I say it is because some people, no names specifically, look foolish just because they have a vendetta in honor of their precious pick.

I guess because Agumon isn’t human? That’s the best I can come up with.
He will evolve alot of times and get more moveset options, use fire balls, he can use a Axe as Agumon, Missiles as MetalGreymon, a giant shield as WarGreymon, etc

You can put Conan the Barbarian or He-Man and they will use a Sword and Fists, thats the point.

Wave 2 was a pipedream from the very start for people who thought Wave 2 was going to be a disappointment, I dunno why we treating its deconfirmation like a big deal when the DLC plan was clearly laid off to us back in November 1st.
I don't even know why folks are haphazardly treating news that's common for dlc in general as a solid deconfirmation for Wave 2 in the first place, when it couldn't be farther from such. Best to keep off the Panic button there.

Which is true Augmon does have several forms with different abilities.

From my limited knowledge

Greymon- is a big bruiser

Metal Greymon- has missiles

Wargreymon is knight-like character with big energy attacks

Skull Greymon has a huge shark missile

I don’t hate any of the picks proposed here, since Smash has always opened me to new franchises and i would love to keep it that way.

But i have to admit that i consider certain picks not just for the moveset, but the stage they would come with.

I have a bias with any stage that involves gimmicks, and there are times were i prefer a certain pick over another just because of the stage potential that the pick could come with.

Outside of that, i strongly believe that every character originated from a game is valid without exceptions.

I don't even know why folks are haphazardly treating news that's common for dlc in general as a solid deconfirmation for Wave 2 in the first place, when it couldn't be farther from such. Best to keep off the Panic button there.
I think about Doom when i read those two words in that order.

Fists? Dude, there is moveset of Heihachi just a few posts above.

Also, I can't say anything about anyone else, but trying to show other characters worse to support your fave doesn't convince me the uniqueness of Agumon, it just makes you sound desperate.

Wait...

You know the 'earthquake' effect in world of light that makes you trip?

He could do that which would be set up for a combo string.

Welp, too bad. Bowser, K.Rool, Ridley, Charizard, and Incineroar all have claws. Looks like Agumon is redundant.

No offense but I get the feeling you know very little about Lloyd or game design if you’re comparing Conan the Barbarian to him.

It’s as if character with similar weapons can fight differently. Imagine that!

Just to explain how Agumon works as a character:

Agumon is like a Mario character, Jump, Fire Balls, Punches and Kicks.
He have a Axe as well:

Agumon_dw4.png

Greymon is a Bowser type character,
Big, heavy, will try to throw you away and hit with fire.

Greymon_illustcon.jpg

MetalGreymon is a charizard type character.
Big, heavy. But he can fly for short periods of time,
can use missiles from his chest and can throw his arm like an anchor similar to Simon's chain.

Metalgreymon_illustcon.jpg
Metalgreymon3.jpg

WarGreymon is a Marth + K.Rool type of character.
Fast but with strong blows, uses ranged attacks but can also be strong up close.
He can fly and has a huge shield that you can use to defend yourself.
