I’d say it couldn’t handle the power of Bowser. If he and Dedede were in Smash 64, the N64 would not just break, but vaporize for sure.

Wario Land separates itself from the others with it's puzzle-oriented platforming, more freedom to go where you want (Shake-It doesn't really follow either of those though) and a larger focus on collectibles. There's a lot of potential to make a great Wario Land game that could stand out from Nintendo's other 2D platformers.

aesthetics wise the wario land games also tend to be completely unique to themselves (and i'm especially including wario world in this), which is something i wouldn't say shake it failed to do in a sense, but it didn't exactly live up to the bizarreness of the previous games as well. seeing a game like wario world in hd and with actual substantial content would be amazing

It was less "removed" and more "we have no time left to make them".

I'm aware of the difference. But it's still interesting to note that when cuts needed to happen, then chose two of the only three large characters in favor of keeping a whole lot of the smaller ones.

According to Sakurai: "Nobody".

However, if they pushed all the "cut" characters back to a DLC role, technically they wouldn't have been "cut", but delayed.

By the time all the DLC was made, all the intended characters would have gotten in anyway.

I still cannot ****ing believe it took this long We have Kirby Planet Robobot which tbf didn't exist at all until Ultimate's development but we also had Sonic ****. Some of the most well-known areas in Sonic are casinos so why did we get TWO GODDAMN GREEN HILLS

Quality over quantity, eh? We're dealing with subjectives here, but I don't necessarily disagree!

Yeah, I'm not saying "I don't want a 2nd pass" but "I'd be fine without one". If they keep making awesome characters, I'm on board.

I just felt that the DLC we got for Sm4sh was not that great. Mewtwo, Lucas and Roy didn't interest me as they were just returning characters, 2 of whom being clones. Bayonetta and Cloud just felt untested, like they were added too quickly. Ryu was the only "really good" dlc imo.

Piranha Plant and Joker both seem like really unique characters so I think the DLC is going to be better this time around!

I don't think we even need a new Smash Bros after Ultimate...

It's gonna be hard to to top it, and I feel Smash needs to end at some point, or it'll lose it's charm
And besides I think we have just about all of the Nintendo / Video Game all-stars playable...
I'd rather a balanced 80 character roster where every character's inclusion makes sense, over a 250 cluttered unbalanced character roster with a lot of useless filler...

I’ll actually sum up the part KarneraMythos is reffering to. It was in a recent interview.

Sakurai: “As we make the DLC fighters, the team involved will continue to shrink. Until now I’ve been overseeing hundreds of peoples’ work, so my work as a director is about to get relatively light. Of course, we have to plan the next DLC character, and the next… and so on and so forth. I planned in advance and set aside some funds, though, so we’ve got a bit of a surplus compared to earlier on.”

I'd buy joker. I don't know about Hero, but I'd have no interest in Byleth or Haruka so I wouldn't buy the fighter pass. And Cuphead is cool, but I still really feel like Smash games should be reserved for more "established" characters. There may be exceptions, but I wouldn't want a character less than 3 years old.

Finally played it.

First I decided to do Training Mode to get an idea how to play since its been so long playing an Nintendo game, then played Classic Mode as Link and unlocked King K. Rool (While doing it at the least intense) and then played as my boi for a bit.

Still pretty rusty but eventually I'll get the hang of it. Either way the game is fun. I much look forward to playing more soon enough.

It's the highest selling Capcom franchise, period. It's got a wealth of Nintendo exclusive history. It's a multimedia franchise that has spread far past what most videogame franchises do, with a slew of both live action and CGI movies, American comics and Japanese manga, etc. It's far more recognizable and well known to the greater public than any Smash DLC not named Cloud or Ryu.

In terms of third party franchises unrepresented, I really feel like Resident Evil is next in line. I'm biased, but I'd put Jill or Leon over Tails based on the simple fact that Sonic's at least in the game already.

In terms of third party franchises unrepresented, I really feel like Resident Evil is next in line. I'm biased, but I'd put Jill or Leon over Tails based on the simple fact that Sonic's at least in the game already.

Resident Evil isn't that well known to the general public.

If you're going to use that logic, then Lara Croft is infinitely more of an omission than Jill Valentine or Leon Kennedy.
