Official Smash Ultimate Discussion

Almost one month has passed since release. In retrospect....

  • This is by far the best Smash ever. Like, I don't even know how they will top this.

  • Pretty freakin' good; I have a few qualms over things like internet play, balancing issues, etc.

  • It's ok, but [insert Smash game here] is better.

  • I'd rather play Parcheesi.

Cutiefly is legit one of the best Gen 7 Pokemon.
Ribombee, its evolutions, is one of my fave designs.

It's soooooo cute.

It helps that it's a great Doubles partner and a solid Bug / Fairy type that'll last you the whole game.

I really wanna see how they handle dragon and poison Eevee

Draconeon and Absintheon? Sound like cool names to me.

But then again, most of the Eeveelutions have REALLY simple names, so I half-expect "Drageon" and "Poiseon"
Maybe Dragon could be something resembling these little guys?

Armadillo Girdled Lizard

Same. You wouldn't think just it's that good just looking at it but then it becomes even more unstoppable upon evolving.
And adorable as well, you’re lying if you say you don’t want a plush of Ribombee.

Terrakeon, although I'm pretty sure that'd be incredibly lazy for a Ground Eevee.

Can't tell if you're joking or forgot about Terrakion because of that Gen 8 comment mishap.

Ground type-Richteon? Like the Richter scale?

Though i'm sure everyone will just make "DIE MONSTER" references, not that it's a bad thing.

You know I'm really glad we got Inceneroar. Like, really glad. He's one of my most played characters so far.

However, the way Sakurai chose him still runs me the wrong way. In the same way Greninja was chosen. And it's not necessarily that he's a "Advertisement Rep" either. It's that, no matter what, no matter how far behind or ahead The Pokemon Company is on a certain game in comparison to Smash there is always a spot left open so that a new Pokemon can be added. Specifically a Pokemon. Not a "Oh we'll leave this open in case some character becomes huge between planning and development" no. Only a Pokemon. Every other new character, including echoes, were chosen on their own merit. Ridley for being uber popular with the U.S. crowd. K. Rool the same except Europe/World Wide (Unsure). Isabelle for being incredibly popular in Japan and just in general. Simon Belmont for being a literal NES icon. And Inkling for being Nintendo's first huge New IP in a long time plus popularity. Dark Samus for easy development and popularity. Daisy for being heavily requested and easily developed. Chrom for his popularity from 3DS/Wii U. Ken for being the original Echo fighter and popularity. And Richter for easy development and Japan's choice of a Belmont. I mean hell even Piranha Plant fills a niche of being a normal ass enemy and he's a free incentive to buy the game early AND he's the equivalent to a weirdo character like G&W, R.O.B., and WFT. Inceneroar was added because... well. He's a Pokemon... and he's the one The Pokemon Company planned to market the most for Sun & Moon. Does he have his own merits? Absolutely. He's one of the absolutely most fun characters in the game but that's not why he was chosen. And that just rubs me the wrong way somehow.

Now you can call it bias, or salt, or even disdain for Pokemon since I've been less than impressed by the outings since Black & White leaving out the remakes; what with B2 and W2 being kinda retreads of what I just played, X and Y being decent but nothing special, Sun and Moon being the weakest in the series in my opinion despite having some of the best designs in a while, Ultra Sun and Moon being more of the weakest, but even Let's Go being an amazing remake of Kanto wasn't completely nailed especially with how "my first Pokemon game" it was. No matter what you call it though, it's kind of disappointing to me to know that any time a Smash comes around a new Pokemon will be added no matter what. Whether the Pokemon chosen is popular or not, whether the Pokemon could make a good character or not, and whether the Pokemon has more merit than a more requested character or not doesn't matter. They're getting in. Why? Because.

Rant over. I dunno. I'm not really annoyed by Inceneroar since I'm grateful for how fun the character is. I'm just a little disappointed that there HAS to be a Pokemon just because it's Pokemon. I guess that's just me though.

Honestly, I'd be surprised if Eevee isn't upgraded at some point. I can see Gen 8 giving it a way to morph into the other Eevolutions, sorta like Ditto with a mix of Greninja's Protean ability.
It's not quite the idea you have in mind but I think that's the point of Eevee's exclusive Z-move, to get all Eeveelutions involved.

I don't think they'd be willing to completely rework how evolution works just for Eevee though, part of the point is that its a pokemon you have to make a choice with.

i can never beat zelda dude, every time i try to do one thing she's already doing another.
Zelda players tend to lose when they get pressured so you have to be on them pretty much the whole time. I know it sounds stupid considering she has a warp move but Zelda's best moves tend to be thrown at a distance so you should try to close it every time.

I get what you mean, and I kinda agree on some level, but I don't really see it as a bad thing? I dunno, but in my opinion leaving a slot open for a character that's guaranteed to be at least sorta interesting from the biggest multi media franchise in the world doesn't seem like that bad an idea imo.

Fair enough. They don't exactly reference Pikachu's other evolutions either. If Eevee was to be playable, I imagine it would use whatever move it can learn before evolving, and/or through move tutoring/egg-breeding. Preferably a move for each type, and you know which ones I'm referring to.

I can understand that, it can be a gamble to put faith into a brand new character with no indication if the public will warm up to it or now. Infact I kinda think that’s another reason why I want to see Cynthia in so badly. A Pokémon character that has been around the series for a while and built up recognition and a significant fanbase to break the trend of banking on the new guy to make it big.

Pebbleon. Cuz it's cute. Or maybe Crageon? perhaps Oreon, though that just brings to mind a cookie. Crystaleon could work if they go for a gem theme.

I'm still holding out hope for Champeon.

Skitteon? Cuz insects Skitter around? Antenneon works.

He and Fox have a weird rivalry and odd correlation it seems, what with all the fanart and requests for them to fight or something.

Probably because they're nostalgic gaming furries

Actually, regarding Eevee-lutions, I'll do you one better for the Bug version. Just take part of the Rock version's first name and apply it to the Bug Eevee:
"Morpheon". It's an Eevee with a butterfly motif!

So I just got finished playing Minecraft for more time than intended, and wow, was it a trip.

I named my world "BadTime" (first four notes of Megalovania play) because I knew I was gonna have a bad time.

Last update I played was 1.2, so I immediately began wondered by all the cool new fishy stuff in the aquatic update. I did the typical Minecraft schtick (chop down a tree, mine a bit, craft a bit, etc.) and explored some underwater places to find 2 buried treasure maps. Cool. How does map work?

One trip to the Google Machine later I was reading the maps completely wrong.

Thankfully I get back on the right track, and after one day more heh I've got myself a treasure chest. Nice. At this point, around 3-4 Minecraft Days have passed. This is important.

So, I'm tracking down buried treasure number 2. I come across a village, steal their stuff like any rational player, punch a guy off a cliff because why not, and then keep going. I'm in a Dark Forest biome of some sort, and night is coming. I decide to go on top of the trees so as to avoid the darkness of the forest below.

So, I'm on top of the trees and I see a sheep. Great! I haven't seen any yet, and I need to make a bed so I can set my spawn poi-

I heard this ephemeral, draconic noise from above. All of a sudden I'm hit by a MOTHER****ING MINI DRAGON AND THERE'S A SWARM OF THEM ABOVE ME WHAT THE ****.

I legitimately jumped in my seat and shrieked. Thankfully I didn't wake up my parents.

I immediately jump to the ground and dig a little hole for me to hide in, and for the rest of the night I have to hear the ****ing sounds of these things right outside my dig out, waiting for me to come out so they can rip my face off or something.

Turns out that I was hit by a Phantom. They attack you if you haven't slept for multiple days. Since I couldn't make a bed as I didn't have the materials, that made me a prime target. Being high up (above the tree line), made me an easy target as well. I didn't know these things existed, and was caught unprepared. Mind you, I already get anxious just playing Minecraft, since it's literally you vs. the World and practically everything wants to kill you, and having a surprise enemy swoop into my DMs face wasn't appreciated in the slightest.

This monster was voted into the game by the way. BY THE PLAYERS. WHY WOULD THEY WISH FOR THAT?

Thankfully, when day came I was able to book it to sunlight (they don't like the sun) and make a bed to sleep in the next night.

Then I found another treasure chest and stole a witch's house after murdering the witch. Mine now, witch.

11/10 would Minecraft again.

Playing again made me remember all that's great about Minecraft, and I definitely want to see it represented in Smash Bros. now more than ever.

Now I'm tired. Goodnight everyone.

No, see a character bein sorta interesting isn't even guaranteed. The first instance of this is Lucario. He's literally just a puncher and kicker with a few energy moves. They made him more interesting because they gave him Rage and called it Aura. Greninja? Literally just a water Pokemon. Were they popular? Yeah. Because that's what The Pokemon Company is shoving in their movies, trading cards, anime, etc. Inceneroar is the first TRULY interesting Pokemon character we've gotten gameplay wise since Pokemon Trainer and wouldn't you know it Pokemon Trainer was chosen on his own merits.

So, why does Pokemon have to have a new character? We know there's a new Zelda coming. Why not a new Zelda character? We know there's a new Mario coming. Why not a new Mario character? Star Fox? Metroid? DKC? Kirby? No, just Pokemon.

I mean, you're not wrong, but I think that the fanart does more justice than the source material when it comes to Krystal. Muppet-looking characters with little detail aren't exactly appealing to me.

That's why Smash Spacies are actually kinda furry bait

That's the way it works.

You see Krystal, you think "she's kind of oddly attractive, but I dunno. That muppet face isn't doing it for me..."
Then you look her up on google images and...you know what happens.
Suddenly, invigorated by very "interesting" interpretations of Krystal, a furry is born!

I'm not even trying to make fun of anybody, that's just how it happens. At least in the cases i've observed.
