If we do get a Dark Souls rep, I don't think it'll be Solaire. He's iconic for the series, but he just got an Amiibo a couple months ago, so making one for Dark Souls and then having to make another one for Smash might be redundant.

Wouldn't that be the exact reason TO include Solaire so they wouldn't have to design another one?

Come to think of it, what characters are there that have amiibo but no smash representation in any form?

Can anyone from 2011/12 era speculation fill me in - was Mega Man ever dismissed as an irrelevant 80s platforming mascot that the kids these days didn't care about and that if we were going to get a Capcom rep it would obviously be from either the series that pioneered the fighting game genre or the one that pioneered the survival horror one, both franchises being substantially more relevant than the Blue Bomber's to boot?

You’re point is going off of past patterns though - the protagonist of a 3rd Party series is always included first.

I have a way to solve the spirits problem.

Add the name of the game the artwork comes from in brackets to the existing spirit.

For example, Dixie Kong would become Dixie Kong (Tropical Freeze) and Shantae would become Shantae (Half-Genie Hero).

Castlevania is also different in that aspect. Persona is different in that aspect to an extent.

The difference is between Pokemon and FE is that while some people hate the idea of getting more """over representation""" from Pokemon, most of them love it when it actually happens. Incineroar was the perfect example of this.

Besides a lot more people are fans of Pokemon then of FE, so there's also just a lot less hate for it in general.

Wii Fit is a series about the peaceful and zen activity that is yoga. We have Wii Fit Trainer.

No, they would redesign one. Inkling got a brand new Amiibo, despite it being highly similar to the Inkling Amiibo from the first Splatoon. There's also extra Amiibo for Mario characters, despite them having Smash Amiibo (e.g. there's two Marios, two Luigis, etc.). Daisy already had an Amiibo, but she's getting a new one for Smash.

Poochy as a final surprise DLC reveal actually seems likely given how disappointing it would be.

Sorry Zinith but Poochy is a weak pick even for a promotional character. Why Poochy when we could have Sylux, King Boo, Edelgard, Popular Gen 8 Pokemon, Town kid, etc.?

I am just so tired of seeing people suggest that if Nintendo were to allow a competitor to get a character in Smash that they would settle for the old character that barely left any legacy beyond "I liked that game as a kid!" and not one of the two characters who shaped gaming to what it is today. In fact it tires me so much I'm going to bed now

Reception of the final product aside, the Yooka-Laylee KickStarter was incredibly successful. Why? Because there was demand for a Banjo-Kazooie like game. We've seen a rise in merchandise because of the 20th anniversary. And honestly, the fact that people are still talking about the series to this day and talk about the characters' potential inclusion in Smash shows that the series still has appeal. The series is not like Croc or Gex, the latter of which is more of a punchline nowadays, there's not much demand for those franchises to return as much as Banjo.

I'm not saying Banjo-Kazooie was a world-changing series, Minecraft or Halo are smaller series, or their inclusion in Smash is guaranteed (as much as I don't like to admit it, Steve does seem more likely), but I think saying the Banjo series barely left any legacy is just flat-out wrong
