Ah yes , of course. Sakurai and team have clearly already decided:
“Hey, we’re making DLC for this game, so i’d really like to make a few particular characters into playable characters”.
*Looks back at spirits, which are artwork literally ripped from the games they come from
“What the ****, son of a *****, I can’t believe we’ve done this to em. We already have a .jpg of them in the game, so we clearly cannot make them playable. Who cares that we also have .jpgs of characters that are playable already. That doesn’t matter!”
*Scrolls over to spirit of Samus in the gravity suit
“See? Clearly we need to cut Samus, or just create a completely real situation in which Gravity Suit Samus is a different Samus from the real Samus! Otherwise, how can this game operate! The agony!”
*Plays a match as Chrom against Miyamoto, who is playing as Robin. Miyamoto gets the Smash Ball and uses his Final Smash on Sakurai
“Son of a *****. Miyamoto, not only have you ruined Paper Mario, but now you’ve made me realize that Chrom has gotten far too many chances for this “another day”. Quickly, we must make his recovery garbage.”
This whole thing with spirits is stupid and has already been shown to be bull****. Kaptain K.Rool is KKR. Gravity Suit is Samus. Kirby in the Robobot is still Kirby.
Spirits do not disconfirm characters. If they did, then many in the roster would PROBABLY not be there, just saying. If you want something closer to a hard disconfirmation, look for word of mouth, Assist Trophies, and MAYBE Mii Fighter costumes.
