This whole thing with spirits is stupid and has already been shown to be bull****. Kaptain K.Rool is KKR. Gravity Suit is Samus. Kirby in the Robobot is still Kirby.

Spirits do not disconfirm characters. If they did, then many in the roster would PROBABLY not be there, just saying. If you want something closer to a hard disconfirmation, look for word of mouth, Assist Trophies, and MAYBE Mii Fighter costumes.

I'm 100% with you for First parties, maybe they'll pull it through...
But let's take Rex for Exemple, his Mii costume is sold as a bonus of the Fighter Pass alongside being a spirit and Xenoblade 2 Music. Does it count as a deconfirmation for him?

As for third parties characters, like let's say Rayman (Cursed boy ever since the Omni fake) and MAYBE Geno (Don't hurt me) With how long the DLC talks have been ongoing, and since when Nintendo went to talk for Third Parties to get their spirits....It's kinda unlikely and not logical in my opinion.

As I said, I hope I'll get proved wrong, but I would rather take it as face value that it's UNLIKELY (not impossible) that a spirit becomes a Fighter than saying "It's a baseless assumption" because yes, it is, but it's just a feeling I have.

For both side it's a baseless assumption.
You can't say that spirit deconfirm it.
But you can't say that spirit DOESNT deconfirm it.

People are going to use Mewtwo and Lucas in 4 as a counter exemple.
And it's fine, as long as you understand that, Neither Mewtwo and Lucas were originally planned, as for DLC, and that for Ultimate they had AT LEAST plan for DLC around:
>Either begining of the year for Steve if Vergeben's claim about minecraft content (maybe spirit? Who knows?) follow Hitagi's claim
>Around July/August for Square-Enix

People taking that spirit are deconfirmation as a golden rules are idiot, but people raising their hope and just being nay-sayers completely without AT LEAST expecting the worst aren't better

Third parties aren't in literally any worst spot just because they have a picture in the game that emulates to a very basic element what they MIGHT be capable of in Smash.

No, it just. You can't possibly actually believe that just for a really out there example because I don't know what any of these Spirits do just yet that let's say there's a Geno spirit and he increases the power of blasters because you know gun arm and all that.

That ooop can't sell him as DLC now because that's now how you're supposed to feel Geno's presence in Smash.

Oh no! Tails is a Spirit that makes you practically fly when you jump.

Guess we can't add the most iconic second player that isn't Luigi ever.

That makes very little sense and it's very reaching pessimism and I'm sticking to that. If you want to gird your loins and de-confirm a large chunk of characters that have the potential to sell as DLC just because of these simple little PNGs that barely represent what or who they are then be my guest.

But it just doesn't make sense and I think deep down inside you know that too, because you are smart.

Okay, I'm going to restate something I said on the Isaac thread.

For anyone who seriously thinks Spirits deconfirm characters, you do realise that if, say, Dixie Kong or Bandana Dee or Elma (or anyone else) were missing from all the hundreds of Spirits that'd be super suspicious, right?

Even Rayman, we saw Rayman character Spirits in the Direct, if Rayman himself was missing, that'd give away that he was a DLC character. Not saying I think Rayman is going to be DLC, but the Rayman Spirit literally says nothing.

Well I hope there are Square Enix spirits, at least from FF, but if we haven’t seen one out of literally 450, it’s looking less likely. But we’ll see.

...and we're back to the "That doesn't make sense; you're smarter than that" arguments.

I thought we'd already gotten to the point where nothing is a given after the Box turned out to be true. And the Grinch didn't. Our fantheories are just that - theories.

I'd expect that, since DLC was planned before the game went gold, that pushing a delete button on a png would be easy. If the whole DLC cast is already decided, that does make sense. Yeah, it'd spoil some surprises down the road, but there's also no guarantee that the DLC isn't gonna end up totally out there in the first place.

I think that spirits in game are definitely a bad sign for the DLC pack. Now if there were a second pack, I think that's probably all on the table, possibly assists as well. I can't explain why the Mewtwo trophy was left in Sm4sh WiiU when they knew he'd be coming as a playable DLC. But I also know that the WiiU version also had trophies of several characters who'd we all considered locks (Wolf, Rayman, etc.) who also just stayed trophies.

So do I think it's a complete and utter true disconfirm? No. But is it a good sign? Not for this DLC set...

And as someone who thinks that Tails is unquestionably the most deserving character not yet playable, of course I want to be wrong.

I have the Smash Bros. Inkling girl coming with Ridley and the Octoling 3-pack and will buy Isabelle's Smash amiibo ASAP.

Activision has no content in the game, so the lack of Crash is expected, if anything the fact that Ubisoft are involved is the surprise.

Sylux might still be there, but even if he isn't he's a minor enough character that he isn't even guaranteed a Spirit. Until Prime 4 happens that's the reality of his situation.

Either way, people really ought to stop reading too much into the whole Spirits thing, every notable Nintendo character under the sun will have one. Either we're getting no first party DLC characters, the Nintendo ones will only be from future games, or Spirits don't actually deconfirm anything. I know which one I find the most likely.
