Why? It shows two companies can work together and it's not like a piece of art will prevent a character from being playable.

That's on top of the fact that Spirits likely don't deconfirm fighters anyways.

As a people really still on the mindset that a spirit deconfirms a character? Come on guys....It's a baseless assumption

I rather look realistically at the Spirit being "The characters's spirit might be a compensation with how Sakurai try to make each fight emulate said characters" and being surprised that I get proved wrong than expecting some characters to happens.
Sadly, so far I've been spotless with my prediction about the game/leaks and such... But I really want to be wrong here, because I expected Elma to be DLC if she wasn't a spirit.

I'm just being realistic and set my expectation low. Good way to be surprised if you're wrong.

I think people get too hung up on who owns characters.

I don’t care about how many characters a company has in Smash, but a lot of people think it’s a make or break situation.

To be fair Ken being thrown in as a Ryu Echo almost seemed necessary anyways considering he’s one of the first “clone” characters in gaming history. So if you’re going to use Echo Fighters as a concept in this game you almost need to put him in.

So, while we're all overthinking things, here's some completely circumstantial "evidence" towards a certain character maybe being DLC.

Celica herself has not been spotted as a spirit yet. The closest thing we have is a joint spirit of the child versions of her and Alm.
While three Shadows of Valentia/Gaiden songs were spotted, one was the final boss theme (a song fitting for both Alm and Celica) and the other two, March to Deliverance and Lord of a Dead Empire, are songs specific to Alm's route.
Furthermore, With Mila's Divine Protection has been in Smash since Brawl, and is Celica's map theme...but it hasn't been confirmed to be in the game yet. Celica has yet to have any of HER songs be confirmed.
Add onto this that Three Houses was potentially too new for DLC, and that Celica has proven to be extremely popular as a Fire Emblem character, and that Nintendo/IS has pushed for her to be included in things in the past (Warriors), AND that Sakurai would have had the original Gaiden to go off of as well...

I'm not saying anything definitive, but it's definitely something worth a mention. Could it end up like Waddle Dee and Elma's weird absences before today and ultimately mean nothing? Yeah, it could. But hey, it's something to speculate about.

Crash and Sylux are still possible at the moment too, alongside Celica.

I've never heard of Morrigan, nor the series she's from. What does that say about how likely she is?

She appears in every crossover Capcom makes but from a niche, dead fighting game series called Darkstalkers. She has zero chance of appearing in Smash, I'm just having fun.

Celica would be so good. I'm not sure if this helps her chances at all, but a FE rep seems likely (along with BWD) and if Rex was too new, I think FE Three Houses would be too new as well, but Celica or Alm definitely seem possible, and I hope Celica gets in

I'd be happy with a spirit of Layton myself. Especially if he isn't one of the five potential DLC characters, then it would still be a small achievement for us to see the series at least finally be acknowledged in Smash.

Oh yeah, Spirits is totally a way of using your imagination to pretend you're fighting a certain enemy. It goes with the toy theme of the series, with the actual playable fighters just being toys that are fighting in imagination. This is just an even more stretched version of that metaphor.

Keeping expectations low is good. Expecting too much is how you get people who are still complaining about things even after the unprecedented number of characters, stages, music, and other content in the game.

I'm 100% with you for First parties, maybe they'll pull it through...
But let's take Rex for Exemple, his Mii costume is sold as a bonus of the Fighter Pass alongside being a spirit and Xenoblade 2 Music. Does it count as a deconfirmation for him?

As for third parties characters, like let's say Rayman (Cursed boy ever since the Omni fake) and MAYBE Geno (Don't hurt me) With how long the DLC talks have been ongoing, and since when Nintendo went to talk for Third Parties to get their spirits....It's kinda unlikely and not logical in my opinion.

As I said, I hope I'll get proved wrong, but I would rather take it as face value that it's UNLIKELY (not impossible) that a spirit becomes a Fighter than saying "It's a baseless assumption" because yes, it is, but it's just a feeling I have.

For both side it's a baseless assumption.
You can't say that spirit deconfirm it.
But you can't say that spirit DOESNT deconfirm it.

People are going to use Mewtwo and Lucas in 4 as a counter exemple.
And it's fine, as long as you understand that, Neither Mewtwo and Lucas were originally planned, as for DLC, and that for Ultimate they had AT LEAST plan for DLC around:
>Either begining of the year for Steve if Vergeben's claim about minecraft content (maybe spirit? Who knows?) follow Hitagi's claim
>Around July/August for Square-Enix

People taking that spirit are deconfirmation as a golden rules are idiot, but people raising their hope and just being nay-sayers completely without AT LEAST expecting the worst aren't better
