So it looks like NoA already knows who the DLC characters are, which is really interesting. Why would they know already? Perhaps they played a hand in the selection?

Because...As surprising as it sounds...Most people, working on marketing, or community management probably already know all/First two/three DLC since they have to make the marketing plan for them? Alongside other minor stuff-

I think they want sources on Corrin being chosen because of Sakurai bias...

Last I checked, Sakurai was hesitant to add Corrin due to the abundance of Fire Emblem characters. He got convinced to add him by the development staff...

I would say Lucina based simply on the fact that far more people played Awakening than Blazing Blade. But it's entirely subjective anyway and very hard to measure in any meaningful way.

Dixie would definitely make sense as our next DK character and has more going for her than Funky: but Funky would be so funny that I couldn't really be mad. Plus 'NEW FUNKY MODE' and '& Knuckles' would be relevant to Smash - all we'd need is 'featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry series' to complete the trifecta.

Lucina's like the most popular female in Fire Emblem at this point.

She's literally the female face of the franchise, getting far more love and promotion than Marth himself. Her background also easily allows her to return in any random future Fire Emblem with no good reason at all, and I have no doubt she will return again in the franchise because of it.

My post was a reference to the fact that Chunky isn’t used in any game after DK 64 except for a small art or cameo in the GBA remakes of the Country trilogy and Brawl.

Like the way that Banjo isn’t active at the moment in Smash.

Maybe within the strict context of "Smash players who have never played FE".

Lyn's popularity is majorly due to being the first character you see in the first Fire Emblem game released in the West, which happened years before Brawl. She was popular before she got an AT.

There's nothing stopping Lyn or really any other non-armored swordsman in FE from copying and pasting Marth's moveset.

Not to challenge Sakurai, but I really don't see how he could milk Marth's moveset anymore than he already has. We have an Echo, a semi-clone, and an Echo of the semi-clone.

At this point, unless the character can Echo Ike or Robin (or somehow Corrin, I guess) we're probably done with FE clones.
