Maybe I might spend my first few minutes of Ultimate (when I get ) trying out a 2-stock, 300 HP stamina and no items match on Suzaku Castle with , just to see how it feels. I actually want to see to what extent I can "emulate" Street Fighter .

At this point, I’d be fine with datamining/leaking the Fighter Pass 5 if means not going through the anxiety of wondering if the character you wanted/didn’t want got in.

It’d be ripping off a band-aid.

This, though more so that arguments and flaming would be done with and people will be more likely to accept what's releasing when it actually releases.

Just asking for curiousity: Do you think DLC newcomer speculation will become an exciting or boring time in the coming months?

Just wanna see how people generally feel right now.

I’m worried it’s going to be a bit boring and even tribal.

With Sakurai saying that Nintendo is in the ring, a lot of people are dead set on enforcing the idea that characters like Geno are impossible and that Nintendo would focus solely on 3rd Parties and promotional characters.

But the reality is that Sakurai still has a say on who gets in, and that Nintendo has a wide array of information like the ballot, so DLC may not be all doom and gloom.

I guess it’s better to be pessimistic and all after what happened recently and that it could happen again with DLC, but at the same time we don’t know if the character selection was made purely by people in suits, or with more passionate higher ups willing to give Sakurai a vast array of characters including fan favorites that may actually be playable soon.

Samus/Dark Samus can now FINALLY B reverse (and therefor wavebounce) Charge Shot. Samus is floaty and has decent air speed, but also struggled hard to land, and this is a big bonus. Personally, I’d change one of his aerials to be the face kicking from Ch.9 of Uprising, and maybe change a couple other moves to fit his personality better. Other than that, they mainly just need to adjust the hitbox properties of a few of his other moves so that his combos flow differently, his fighting style in Uprising actually is identical to Pit’s after all.

I mean I'll just go ahead and say part of the reason I haven't been around as much, aside from doing a ton of **** the last few days, is because if the rumors from the notable leakers are to be taken seriously, then we may already know at least 3 of the DLC picks, which gives us more than half of an idea of what to expect.

If this is truly the only DLC for the entire game, and it goes until 2020...and if Verg is right that the SE character is first, then we aren't going to get anything new for quite some time.

Granted, I don't care all that much. While I will stay remorseful that Rex may never be playable (I've gotten over it mostly), I get to play as Ridley, K.Rool, Inklings...Snake. All within 20 days.

Then, add in the fact that I have a 3 day work week this week, a full week next week (the first in almost a month, O O F) and then have taken off work for launch day, AND am hosting a launch party the night of December 7th? I'm beyond hyped!

Ooh another Xenoblade theme battle (i know i'm xeno trash) could be low-leveled Shulk, Reyn!Shulk, Sharla!Shulk, and (player controlled) Dunban mii all on one team versus 4 high level ROBs on Gaur Plains. When Metal Face shows up it could be like that battle outside the Ether Mines where Dunban was being super badass and cutting up Mechon like crazy (since Dunban is player controlled in this theme battle while all the others are low leveled it would be like how when you get DUnban in the party in Xenoblade for that fight he's like 10 levels above the rest lol)

What makes PP's inclusion so great is how random and unexpected was. Sure it is a generic enemy, but it was a funny and random inclusion. I love it already.

I get the debates and leaks made the viewpoint on speculation more negative that led to the build up of that perspective, but still. :/

Even as someone who did not get 3/4ths of my newcomer predictions right, this current atmosphere on speculation feels off to me.

What leakers? Vergeben and Hitagi? The only DLC things Vergeben has heard about are the Square-Enix character and Minecraft content.

It's not even particularly Grinch leak. Smash fandom didn't need any leaks to convince themselves Wolf and K.Rool were locks for DLC.

I'll say the leaks really killed a lot. You couldn't really go anywhere with "I think that X is a good choice because -" "NO VERGEBEN LEAKED IT ALL!!!!"

No with DLC, we're finding out that Nintendo, not Sakurai, chose the DLC. We know that Ubisoft is very close with Nintendo, we know that there were talks with Bethesda, and yet all speculation surrounds Vergeben and Hitagi's choices since Vergeben got everything right so far and vouched for Hitagi.

Also, with only 5 slots confirmed (and Nintendo picking, so they're likely to be promotional over nostalgic), people are understandably pessimistic. Sm4sh even got 7 characters, so this is a bit of a DLC downgrade. Plus, PP threw everyone for a loop.

I don't know what to think anymore. I guess at this point it's just a game to pray for your favorites to get in, but it does seem much more futile this round.

Speculation fills the gap before release because it's obviously filled with hype. At the beginning of speculation, there is a "yet to be determined" amount of new characters. This time started with Inklings, Ridley, and then eventually K.Rool. This game specifically confirmed a lot of fan favorites.

Going into DLC...well, Rex is probably out. Spring Man is out. Waluigi, Isaac, and Skull Kid are out. Most fan wants at this point are off the table, and DLC, as many have said, will probably get leaked beforehand.

Not to mention we've only got 5 characters to talk about, and speculation this time was entirely guided by leaks from beginning to end, making the endless cycle of "this was leaked, therefore your ideas can't happen".

Like, the question of, "Hey, why do you think speculation will drop off or be boring guys?" is completely ignoring the fact that we speculate because we're excited to play the damn game. If you're really wondering, this is exactly where the joke of, "Do you guys actually play this game?" or "I buy the game to stare at the character select screen" come in.

It's like people like talking about the game, but the idea of playing? Reprehensible! Blasphemy!

So you’re saying that I can’t play the game AND speculate at the same time?

Scoly, I know where you’re getting at, but a lot of people are already planning on playing the game anyways. And some people still like to show their thoughts on potential upcoming characters and new content even after the game’s release.

Sure the game can be out already, but some people still like to discuss with others. Not to mention that some people may not even have Smash Ultimate yet and want to pass time by talking to others on here.

It seems like you’re always mad when we up bring the speculation cycle and always respond with “We’re going to play the game anyways”, when the truth is that some people just like discussing with others about Smash, you know, the purpose of this place.

Though, I do understand why some really like getting games digital, with the convenience of it and all. I just prefer physical copies of games, that's all.
