Almost one month has passed since release. In retrospect....

  • This is by far the best Smash ever. Like, I don't even know how they will top this.

  • Pretty freakin' good; I have a few qualms over things like internet play, balancing issues, etc.

  • It's ok, but [insert Smash game here] is better.

  • I'd rather play Parcheesi.

Well, Dragalia Lost characters ARE Nintendo characters at the very least.

Speaking of DL, I do play Dragalia Lost, but Euden in terms of Smash seems like a Roy/Corrin with a Shulk design. It’s possible that he would feel very derivative in terms of looks and possible moveset.

But tephony sorta convinced me that he can still be set apart, and I do like his design so I hope it goes well if Euden were to make it in. Though the reason why I’m doubting Euden right now is because of how Sakurai described Rex’s situation.

I know, I know, we keep coming back to Rex and how he’s apparently not possible or something, but one thing that did catch me is when Sakurai in the Direct also said “...so we couldn’t include characters from games like Xenoblade Chronicles 2 into Smash”. It’s a pretty big game changer in my opinion. As not only did Sakurai give a reason for why Rex isn’t in Smash (and possibly DLC), but he essentially gave a range on who isn’t going to be playable right now using the term “games like XC2” since it means that any character from 2017 and upward (like Spring Man being an AT) possibly weren’t available at the time.

It’s why I’m finding it hard to believe a FE:Three Houses Rep and a Gen 8 Pokémon are likely for that reason. They wouldn’t be out until two years later, and Euden falls into a similar boat. Not only that but Rex and Pyra and Spring Man were also the two most reasonable DLC choices since A) one was from a break out hit and the other would’ve given their series an extra push in the spotlight being in Smash, and B) They were both the most popular brand new characters each having new unique things to potentially bring. Seeing them brushed to the side like that was a very odd move.

Y'know with all these deconfirmations, I empathize with the supporters... but I also feel just a tiny bit relieved, due to that being one less competitor for the "DLC slot."
Thus is the nature of the zero-sum game

I originally had this mindset going into DLC speculation. However, since Nintendo has some stake in the DLC creation, I think there's a possibility of Nintendo reserving a DLC spot for an upcoming/newer character, specifically one from FE. They put in Corrin as DLC to promote Fates, and I can see Nintendo putting in another to promote Three Houses or Heroes. It's kind of similar to Pokemon's situation since there were spots reserved for a Gen 6 and Gen 7 Pokemon (Greninja and Incineroar) in Smash 4 and Ultimate.

Okay, but seriously, I mean, totally fine if not a tad disappointed.
It would, of course, practically deconfirm any other rep from Megaten, but hey, at least the series isn't dead, which is more than I can say for a lotta other of my favorite IPs.

At that point, it'd be time to move on to DOOM guy. Or Ryu Hayabusa. That feels kinda sorta realistic. Maybe.

realistic or not, that won't keep me from continuing to strive to get nier/drakengard in smash one way or another.

Yes, a...specially tailored costume as part of DLC of a specific character, indicating they are promoting the character as a Mii costume and nothing more, gives more evidence...??

I am rooting for the Rex/Pyra fans but let's not pretend their chances are as high as you're making it out to be.

People aren't saying Xenoblade is out.
Just Rex. And most likely Pyra. And Mythra. Or, possibly anyone from Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
At least this round of DLC. The Mii Costume speaks for itself, but Sakurai spoke even further.
