I think probably the most difficult thing for Boo is to both capture his floaty ghost nature while still justifying why he needs to touch the ground to recover his jumps and such.
Probably. But! Bowser Jr. & the Koopalings all float and only touch the ground when their clown car gets wheels (side B) or after a hard landing. Those things are known to let them fly indefinitely yet they're more grounded. Boo could probably just float off the ground and do some kind of big burst Up B that tuckers them out so they gotta flop to the floor from cooldown.
I mean, that's just an idea. They could make it work if they made Piranha Plant work, IMO.

Honestly, the closest I feel a game has captured a ghost character is Gengar.
One of my favorite animations is instead of him crouching, he just sinks into the floor.

Though, "they could've make him work" is a good argument but also other characters can have an edge over them, if they also can make them work but easier.
If reading people have hopes for their character, speculating one over the other, is disturbing to you... With all due respect, you need to step off. Backhanded downtalking is not cool. Period.
It doesn't matter what happens or not. Don't be that person who thinks they're holier than thou just because you see things differently.
To be fair, Duck Hunt was a launch title for the NES, and the laughing dog has become an iconic meme. This character has a legacy that many others don't. In fact, I'm willing to bet far more people know who the Duck Hunt dog is than Isaac, Banjo, or Geno.

I guess at this Duck Hunt is less about a laughing dog but more NES Zapper and it's games turned into a character, which was a pretty big deal in its day.

That, too. I don't know why people keep bringing up Duck Hunt as an example to try and disprove relevance being an important factor in a character's inclusion.
As you might remember from the November direct, the Dutch version of Ultimate has its own announcer ('DORPSBEWONER'). This is the first time we got an announcer, though for Smash 4 we did get translated trophy texts and such. Since besides Villager only Young Link and the Mii Fighters have different Dutch names, I'm curious to find out if there'll be any weird pronunciation differences for the English names. I'm probably going to set the game to English after some point since I'm more used to those terms, but I think it's cool they went the extra mile for us this time around.

I'd argue that Boo would still be the biggest contender among the mooks, but I can at least see where Piranha Plant may have edged out Goomba and Koopa.

I think we over think the "criteria" surrounding newcomer picks and that they get chosen more on a case-by-case basis.
I doubt Sakurai was like "Piranha Plant is Mario's most iconic enemy, he absolutely needs to he in Smash". He was probably more like "Haha, wouldn't Piranha Plant make for a funny and creative fighter? He's iconic enough, I'll bet we could make it work". But I suppose I'm making my own assumptions here.

RE: The Piranha Plant discussion, I really hope Sakurai comes out and says why they added him, as I'd love to know. Guess it does fit into Nintendo increasingly promoting Bowser's minions over the past few years, though. And Piranha Plant was likely chosen over other minions because maybe it can do more: sure, Goomba's more iconic and Sakurai could probably make a moveset, but Piranha Plant likely had more potential for an interesting moveset.
Also, wow it's quiet. But I suppose that I'll probably stay quiet until the week before Ultimate releases when hype levels will be reaching a peak. For now, it's more of a lull period where there's not much new stuff to announce as the last direct covered it all and anything else we might find out will be footage from the odd demo here and there.
I've been a Samus main since Melee, and I love the floatiness contrary to what most people think (you just have to be tricky about your aerials). Even if she's still the "worst" character, it won't matter to 90% of the fanbase who has no actual competitive edge anyway. Still going to enjoy wrecking with her

For Ike, I'd give his smash attacks some armor so they aren't as easily punishable.
For Mega Man, I'd give him all of his custom moves with the ability to swap out his B attacks with directional taunts.
Suppose that starting from Up Taunt clockwise, your Up Taunt cycle through Rush Coil, Tornado Hold, and Beat. Both side taunts are the same, so for convenience's sake, the side taunt mapped to the right directional button will affect Neutral B moves. As such, your "Right" Taunt will cycle through Metal Blade, Hyper Bomb, and Shadow Blade. The opposite is true for your "Left" Taunt, which cycles through Crash Bomber, Ice Slasher, and Danger Wrap. Finally, your Down Taunt cycles through Leaf Shield, Skull Barrier, and Plant Barrier.
Alternatively, having Mega Man copy an opponent's power would be neat, but that would be way too much work. We don't need another "Kirby" situation.
Hold on a tic... I'll admit I have no experience with the Metroid franchise to make any statement on canon, but logic would lead me to assume that Samus voyages places that have very low gravity. Unless of course the canon material actually explains why she's floaty.
OK calm down, a simple typo is nothing to make a big fuss about besides that I didn't exactly know how to spell the name since I'm not familiar with Incineroar outside of Smash. It's pretty childish to get so triggered by a typo...
People have been doing this for 5 months and considering I stopped learning English a literal decade ago yet can still spell 'Incinerate' with ease despite having an average IQ last I checked, I feel like it's kind of bad a bunch of grown ass adults don't know how to spell it. And before you go "lol you said incinerate and not Incineroar", remember that Pokemon loves wordplay and what words Incineroar might have used

I understand that but you didn't have to have an outburst about, you could have just simply tell me how to spell Incineroar without the over emphasizing it.

I just checked the blog out of curiosity and the site says that Meta Knight's final smash is called Darkness Illusion
What the hell is that name? There's nothing illusionary about that new Maximum Whatever super at all, why not something like idk, Darkness Unleashed as it seems Meta Knight stopped pulling punches judging by the extra wings
