The shock of Piranha Plant has warped my reality of the possible. I wouldn't say I support a playable Steve, but I'm somehow at a point in my life where I'm not against him at all. There's really only one character I want in the game anymore (who has any shot at all, sorry KOS) and that's Elma, and the signs tentatively point in her direction for DLC without really anything against her so bring anyone else on board, it's a party now

I can't help but wonder. I don't think Nintendo plans to go full Overwatch on us.

Maybe the CGI bits will at least be adapted into a cutscene for those who haven't seen the "trailer".

Me today: I want to write an immensely in-depth critique expressing my personal likes and numerous disappointments I had with the final Smash Ultimate Direct, from the perspective of a hardcore Smash Bros speculator. But, it is very difficult for me, as I am currently in a writer's block. The large number of disappointments I had from the Smash Direct is weighing down my motivation to write a proper critique. This is something that I feel will be interesting to write about/share, but I fear the backlash that will come from just sharing my honest opinion.

I wouldn't give you any backlash comments. I'll just share my honest opinions on it. I loved everything in the direct, but I can only speak for myself. If you didn't like a lot about it, then that's okay by me Everyone has different wants and expectations (though some expectations people have are really... out there)

's new Final Smash looks wicked, it's like a combination of and 's all made into one little attack.

My DLC predictions:

- Square Enix character (because Vergeben has said so), I think they are going for an RPG character here, like a Dragon Quest antagonist or Octopath Traveler antagonist
- Steve (Minecraft), also because Vergeben has (kinda) said so. (So far, Minecraft hasn't been represented in stages, Assist Trophies or spirits which makes it likely that Steve will be a character with his own stage)
- Elma, because by the sounds of it Sakurai would have included Rex if only he would have been created/finished before the project plan was finished. Elma kinda makes up for this + getting a second character from an extremely well-doing and big franchise as Xenoblade is very likely
- Bandana Waddle Dee because he has immense popularity in Japan and would have been an Assist Trophy otherwise (I speculate)
- Paper Mario because he is also a relatively popular character despite his supporters not being that vocal. I speculate that Paper Mario would've been an Assist Trophy too if he wasn't going to be planned as a DLC character

I think Sakurai still wants to include popular Ballot characters and thus Paper Mario and Bandana Waddle Dee makes sense to me. (I know some of you gonna be like: "but other characters that became ATs were more popular than Bandana Waddle Dee and Paper Mario!" and to that I'm gonna say "yeah, but Sakurai wants to pick (the most) realizable characters first so that's why Bandana Waddle Dee and Paper Mario.")

No one here said anything about "removing all white people" from games.

Oh but that is exactly what Gwen said, games have a set amount of main characters so everything needs a limit 5 main characters mean 5 main characters and if you make them all diverse you won't have any white characters.

That's the problem with filling in a diversity quota it's not related to the setting for example a game set in Africa would naturally have African characters, instead its diversity just to say they are adding diversity. It's not supported by the setting or plot.For example the BFV controversy.

No one had a problem with the African AC protagonist in origins because he wasn't forced in to fill a quota he was a natural part of the game and an extension of the setting.

A necessary weasel, one would say. As much as people want Master Chief as THE first TP Western character from Microsoft, even he wouldn't get to be in before Steve.

That being said, I saw a kid show up interest in a big figure of Alex at EB Games yesterday, so I wonder if she could be in as an alt.

I could see Alex being the alt. Steve could be a dual-gendered character like Corrin and Villager.

This makes me wonder about Spawn Wave and his "rumor"...

Although, apparently there's also a rumor from NoA that Geno is DLC, which also seems odd given Vergeben's info, so I dunno. This rumor comes from someone in the Geno thread; might not be true, but from what I read it seems credible somehow. Daisy has a "Fighter Spirit" using one of her Super Mario renders with the same dress, so yeah, Geno isn't disconfirmed.

2. Banjo-Kazooie/Steve Minecraft
3. What's a Granblue?!?!

octopath came out too late to be dlc. and tbh none of the dq villains are interesting, if se gets another character im expecting either sora, or a dq main hero.

I have been saying for a while that Sora could be DLC, but I think it is contingent on whether or not Square Enix wants to bring Kingdom Hearts 3 to the Switch.

Though I could be wrong considering Sora has a solid history on Nintendo platforms. It would just be weird if he was DLC next year and KH 3 didn't come to Switch even though it is coming out next year.

But yeah, I'll personally be disappointed if the supposed Square Enix character isn't Sora.

It’s just them sitting in a movie theater.

For everyone who’s thinking we could get more cutscenes like SSE: It could be for all movies in general, such as Trailers and Classic endings. All we could get for World of Light movies is just the opening and the ending, for all we know. Either way, LOWER YOUR EXPECTATIONS, or you might get disappointed with it just like many of you with the direct because you set such high expectations.

You know what's gonna be insane? If the rumors are true, Kingdom Hearts is gonna have 7 songs, while Final Fantasy has 2 still, since it's confirmed on Nintendo's website that all DLC fighters will have 7 songs.

One thing I saw going through though is on the character selection screen it shows a 1p for the character selection, possibly implying Spirits can be multiplayer? I'm really hoping the adventure mode is co-op :/

She does, I notice that not many people have mentioned her in this form with the talks of dark skin characters. There is a theory from the missing 7 in Brawl that she was planned to be playable with Toon Zelda.

She would be really cool to have since she is a pirate.
