I really doubt we're getting Granblue which hasn't even ever been on a video game console as well as a Steve character. I think Minecraft is the kind of series that could be much better represented by a stage or AT than a character. Also, PushDustin pointed this out, but how would they even get DLC info?

If we get a Minecraft stage for DLC, we're getting a Minecraft character, and several Minecraft music tracks, just like how Sakurai explained DLC in the direct

Honestly I don't really get the weird standards people have with roster slots for this series. Smash is not a throne room for the biggest and best icons of the world to stand on high. It's a fun platform fighter where as long as you are video game character and have been on a Nintendo console at some point then you are welcome.
To have the roster ruined for you because a goofy side character that is being added for free doesn't fit some arbitrary criteria you set up is insanely silly.
It's goofy and not highly requested but the plant looks fun to play as and at the end of the day I like goofy fun like that.
Also considering Bandana Waddle Dee has been campaigned for a lot I really can't see how this is so much worse.

Granblue character makes some sense to be since the devs who made that game worked with Nintendo to make Dragalia Lost, which likely would be too new to have some playable content from so having a character from a friendly third party's earlier game makes some sense. No idea if it will happen but there is some logic to it.

Nairo posted footage of Luigi's grab. It looks like trash. It's the plunger on a rope from the Simon trailer.

Doesn't grab ledges, it's a projectile in the air.

Also, his cyclone doesn't rise in the air anymore.

His smashes are worse, his side b goes less distance.

I'll have to see if I still like him once I get my hands on the game. It's early days yet, I'm not gonna jump the gun and say who does and doesn't suck quite yet, especially when day one balance patches could fix things.

Luigi being bad would be a bummer, though, especially because I've played him since the beginning on N64. Oh well, I'll stick by who I like no matter what.

Regardless, I really doubt Granblue would get a character. Maybe Spirits, but I doubt a character. The Square character is also only vague because Vergeben doesn't want to say who it is.

Honestly the whole Granblue claim seems super bogus. Like they have two more mobile games that they spent more time and money on. Like why isn’t there a Dragalia Lost DLC or a Puzzle and Dragons DLC? Heck! They even made a Mario version of Puzzle and Dragons!

Because Granblue is Cygame's flagship franchise.

That's like saying that SEGA should represent itself with Space Channel 5 over Sonic.

Either during Treehouse live or during the Direct itself, it was stated outright that Incineroar has the slowest Walking Speed. Whether that he means he's all-around slowest or not; who knows?

A lot of characters have similar moves, and PP has different animations and an entirely different model :S

Way, way back, between E3 and the August Directs, many an argument was had regarding how many Echoes we'd get.
As a note, I was one of the people who, quite frequently, said we wouldn't get that many Echo Fighters.

Well, let's take a look.

We ended up with Seven in total, 5 if you don't count Lucina and Dark Pit since they were introduced in Smash 4. Turns out we didn't get that many Echo Fighters after all (we even didn't get some obvious picks, like Shadow).

Also, I was comparing each game's New Fighter selection, it's pretty interesting.

I'm sorry to hear that. I for one am excited for Piranha Plant and think it looks very funny and interesting. But in terms of the mobile game, Granblue Fantasy, it's hugely popular in Japan and if it became DLC it would sell incredibly well in Japan, which may be why it could be real. I know Steve and Katalina may not be the characters a lot of hardcore Smash fans wanted, but they will sell, and Nintendo is a business first. Anyway, every Smash game has its ups and downs, and I'm sure the next one will be no different. It'll be great in some aspects and kind bad in others. No game is perfect, and we all need to keep our expectations in check. But I hope to see you around.

DLC lineup was decided as part of the project plan, which is why we aren't getting Rex.

This is especially so if it involves multiple parties, which it almost assuredly is.

We have 5 spots for stages, and 5 confirmed DLC packs with stages.


We're more likely than not NOT getting a DLC button, so every spot counts.

Piranha Plant is a far bigger name than Geno though. Geno started out as a joke, but then people took it too far to the point where they now want him in Smash and have convinced themselves that he's a necessary pick. SMRPG was a fine game, and Geno was a decent character in it, but it's hardly a game that deserves to get special treatment in Smash when the superior Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door exists. What exactly makes Geno more deserving than other Mario RPG characters like Goombella, Vivian, or Paper Mario himself?

As much as I love Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door and like Vivian more then Geno, I think Super Mario RPG is the better game.

You seem to be doubting the Tales of series' popularity.

So we've all seen what certain characters would do in their last moments before being devoured in the light and it's a really great show of personality.

So I've been thinking:
If your most wanted character/main was in that scene, what would they do in their last moments when put in that situation, and how would they inevitably bite the dust?

Sora: Uses Flowmotion to evade some of them like Lucario and Greninja did, only to get got. Either that or tries to use reflect magic or guard with the Keyblade only to meet a similar fate to Link and Zelda.

Joker: Calls Satanael and tries to shoot at Galeem only for Satanael to go down before Joker himself.

Peach and Daisy get pushed out of the way by their Toads sacrificing themselves, but are then forced to desperately try and block the light with their parasols, to no avail.
Piranha Plant digs a hole, jumps into it, and buries itself, with lips sticking out. Gets blasted.

Now look... We've had recent deconfirmations. Isaac, Shadow, Ashley, Takamaru... But I think THIS has to be the saddest one...

Characters can have different Walking, Running, Falling and Air Speeds.

As an example: in Smash 4, Jigglypuff had the slowest Walk Speed, but the slowest runners were Robin and the heaviest class of Mii Gunner (Jigglypuff was still slow though), Ganondorf was only slightly faster than Jigglypuff.
