Smash is on a very dangerous path right now. I've never been mad at a reveal before. Disappointed, sure. But every character so far has been a worthy inclusion in some way, and for many people a dream come true. Until piranha plant. Being a smash bros character means nothing now. There's no requirement. There's no status needed. Smash characters can just be whatever now and it doesn't matter. Pirahna plant is a blemish on the roster and I would rather get no freebie than have this character. It legitimately ruins the roster somewhat for me. Now we may be getting a third party mobile game character. What a truly ****ty idea. It's basically the equivalent of getting a clash of clans character. And steve. I have nothing against minecraft. I like minecraft. But steve is just a knockoff lego man with practically no animations. Another garbage character. And the square nix character may just be ****ing slime. Generic enemy number 2. This is a ****ing ****show if it's true. It doesn't mean anything now. This may be my last smash game. I love the whole base roster. I think I'll keep it untarnished by avoiding the dlc and then stay away from smash in the future if Verg is right. It makes me incredibly sad because smash has always been one of my favorite series. But if this is the kind of content we have to look forward to then I'm out.

I'm sorry to hear that. I for one am excited for Piranha Plant and think it looks very funny and interesting. But in terms of the mobile game, Granblue Fantasy, it's hugely popular in Japan and if it became DLC it would sell incredibly well in Japan, which may be why it could be real. I know Steve and Katalina may not be the characters a lot of hardcore Smash fans wanted, but they will sell, and Nintendo is a business first. Anyway, every Smash game has its ups and downs, and I'm sure the next one will be no different. It'll be great in some aspects and kind bad in others. No game is perfect, and we all need to keep our expectations in check. But I hope to see you around.

All possible but if you noticed I'm sort of doing the Sora thing now soooo.... Maybe season 2 for dragon quest since they gotta jump through a few more hurdles for it. Would be all for it though I love DQ sometimes even more than FF!

So we've all seen what certain characters would do in their last moments before being devoured in the light and it's a really great show of personality.

So I've been thinking:
If your most wanted character/main was in that scene, what would they do in their last moments when put in that situation, and how would they inevitably bite the dust?

Well, might as well reply to my own discussion topic.

• Demi-fiend realizes he can't win so his bloodlust kicks in and he leaps off the cliff firing full-power eye lasers straight at Galeem hoping for a Pyrrhic victory. They never reach their target as both he and his attack gets swallowed.
• Doomguy, furious as usual, unleashes his entire arsenal around him firing in all sides, with a shot from the BFG even managing to deflect one before he is inevitably swallowed.
• Monster Hunter enjoys one last juicy meat bone before getting wiped out

I kind of think the reason Banjo isn't in and why Steve was chosen over him for dlc is that Nintendo don't want to represent characters exclusive to a rival console. I really doubt we'll get Banjo now.

Started off pretty much as a PlayStation exclusive character and look where he is now or am I missing the point?

An argument for a DQ character as DLC:

It'll somewhat satiate the bellies of the folk clamoring for Goku in Smash.

I'm not saying it'll stop the requests, but it'll make them feel acknowledged. I can imagine the unaware tweets now: "Sakurai knew how much we wanted Goku, but he couldn't give him to us. So he put in a video game character drawn by Toriyama himself. The madman!"

These three, the protagonists of the first three games, might be what would make more sense since they are interconnected in the story. Last dude is Erdrick, 'Legendary Hero' who is brought up in the first two games as an ancestor to the two, I'd say he'd be the one Sakurai would go with.

I think DQ character is super possible. I don't wanna debate over how much so in comparison to Geno or whatever.

But... Consider... The majority of third party character had their series on the NES and continued to have games until the relatively recent times... (Ignoring Sega)..

If you consider that... DQ is a major legacy series and shares the qualifications other third parties have...

The best time line for this... Would be a character creator for the DQ rep on your roster.... Could you imagine... I know Mii's kind of own that... But like... If anything the Mii's could be a sign that its not impossible either.

Geno's spirit would actually leave the doll, but the lights would disintegrate both the spirit and the doll.
R.O.B. would simply stand and take it, because he knows he's the last of his kind. He's known for years Master Hand would come back for him.
Donkey Kong would look frantically for Diddy, not realizing he'd already fired up the Rocketbarrel pack.
Ness' last thought would be of Paula, Mom, King and Steak. He would stand tall and attempt to PSI Magnet it.
Meta Knight would try to slip into his Dimensional Cape. He'd actually succeed, but the massive galaxy-wide explosion would reach him anyway.
Game & Watch wouldn't realize what was going on. He's made of Shadow Bugs according to Subspace canon, and can't tell good or evil.
Pichu and Jigglypuff would cower together in fear.
It would just bounce right off of Shrek, because nothing can kill him.

That Geno idea is actually really cool
Kazooie would try to talon trot away with Banjo with the speedy shoes but cant outrun the lasers
K. Rool and Dedede would try to suck up the beams, only to be evaporated
Olimar would try and get others onto his ship to escape but they'd all get lasered before they even take off
Doomguy would jump into the beam with his BFG/ chainsaw and try to rip and tear even while he is turning to ashes and being blown away
Popo and Nana would be like the Potato heads apporaching the landfill fire in Toy Story 3
Ryu and Ken would try to do some combined hadouken thing (Maybe Megaman can join them with a charged buster) and may hold back a beam for a split second but fail
Wario would watch someone else get beamed, laugh at them and then get beamed immediatley after
Pac Man would try escaping while in his pizza form
I could see Simon and Richter try holy water or crosses on the beams
Cloud would try limit break and fail
Raymans top half gets hit by a beam, his shoes run around without a body and a second beam finishes him off
(Thwomp, being a true hero, would let people get on top of him and he'd try to quickly rise up as far as possible to escape the lasers, but they wont make it)

All we need for Online play is an agreed set of rules so people around here and other Smash forums can find each other easily. It's a shame we can't select both Battlefield and Omega forms but oh well. Battlefield should probably be prioritized though, I'm sure everyone here has grown tired of Omega forms.

Do you guys think anyone's even going to care about Smash 6 once it gets announced?
This DLC season is going to absolutely destroy any goodwill anyone ever had for Smash. This isn't bait, I'm seeing tons of people on here, Reddit, Twitter, everywhere talking about Verge's leaks and stating they're never going to forgive Sakurai for this.
Like, sure, the base game hype ended pretty underwhelmingly, but people like RelaxAlax and Alpharad, who were so hopeful that DLC would be plentiful and increase Ultimate's lifespan immensely...they were wrong. They were all fools to believe in Sakurai. WE were all fools to believe in Sakurai.

lmao **** this fanbase, man. People are acting like the base roster is underwhelming or something, despite having literally everyone in and RIDLEY AND K ROOL.

And then now people are getting upset over the DLC as if they wouldn't be floored with whatever SE character they're releasing, because we all know that company has a plethora of great candidates. They're getting upset over Katalina because she's a literal who and an animu swordfighter despite Corrin being the same thing (albeit, more well known but still had a lot of people not knowing her), and yet now Corrin is played and loved by a ton of people. They're getting upset over Steve despite the fact that MC is the most groundbreaking game in the indie scene because they want ****ing Shantae instead as the indie rep despite her series doing a fraction of what MC has done.

And let me point out that all those people are still gonna play the hell out of those characters, and they're gonna be upset if they're ever cut in Smash 6.

Not saying it's legit, but on the off chance it is, DLC leaking is completely understandable given we have confirmation from Sakurai himself that this season pass' contents were decided upon during planning, which is why Switch era characters like Rex and Pyra are out of the running.

And if you notice, a lot of the info concerning DLC that's been leaked has been VAGUE. Very rarely something super definitive. A Square character, minecraft representation, a Granblue character.

I wouldn't be surprised if that vague info is all that's really gotten out there.

People are being overly dramatic and angry everything didn't go 100% their way and will buy this game anyways once they get their ranting out of their system. And years from now when Smash 6 is released, the cycle will repeat.

Besides, even if these people meant it, Nintendo and Sakurai aren't gonna lose any sleep over a couple of upset forum users never buying the games again when these communities don't even make up 10% of the amount of people who actually buy and play Smash because it's, y'know, fun, and not because X is on the character select screen.

indeed and even here honestly looking at the poll... people doesn't seem too upset about PP and all in all most smashboards users are taking the deconfirmation of their favorite characters like champs.

Look, is perfectly fine being dissapointed your super favorite isn't in the game, is ok to be dissapointed in some stuff of the new smash (I still mourning lack of plataforming content) but Acting like steve or a square enix character thst is not geno is the end of teh world and throwing vitriol to other characters doesn't make you look good.

Thank you. This is why the "well, it's popular in Japan" argument drives me nuts. Marth is the only character that was a 100% unique Japanese character when they were added and now the dude even speaks English and has had his main game translated and officially brought over. This is why I side-eye people saying Dragon Quest will be the supposed next Square Enix franchise because the series hasn't had a mainline game in the West since 2009 for the DS... Slime? You might as well add Doraemon.

The Square character is vague across the board, Verg isn't the only one saying there will be a square character, and the rest can't agree on which. There is false info out there, they have to be careful. All the info is probably like that

Does it have a warp drive? I haven't played a Kirby game that allows him to teleport, just games where the Warp Star goes really fast.

Honestly the whole Granblue claim seems super bogus. Like they have two more mobile games that they spent more time and money on. Like why isn’t there a Dragalia Lost DLC or a Puzzle and Dragons DLC? Heck! They even made a Mario version of Puzzle and Dragons!
