You've got stuff like the Dragon Quest series composer having the orchestrated soundtrack in the 3DS release of VIII removed for the original midi one in the international release; that's the big example of Japanese game dev prejudice off the top of my head.

In fairness to that case, Koichi Sugiyama isn't exactly innocent overall besides games. I heard that he apparently helps to support historical revisionism in regards to what Japan did in WWII.

Isabelle was very obviously planned to be revealed in the September Direct, this is very obvious, and due to the in-game numbering system, that means Isabelle will come before Isaac on the roster.... yet Isaac was supposedly going to be shown off first?

My point is that the faker shouldn't know if the company would or would not completely squash the validity of the leak. Everything else from the mural itself, the work materials, and even the leak going from Snapchat to Discord to 4chan can understandably be faked by the fraud with a couple of accomplices. The actions of Eric and his company and what work they're involved however in can't be 100% anticipated and controlled by the faker so it doesn't make sense why a faker would assume involving them in the fake leak wouldn't be a gigantic risk to the credibility of the leak to say nothing of potential legal ramifications. You can't just assume the company wouldn't vehemently deny any involvement if they have nothing to do with Smash since a different company involved in this very fiasco did just that.

I'm sorry I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. There is no possible situation in which the company confirms the material as real, so they're going to deny it no matter what. If it's fake it's perfectly reasonable for the faker to anticipate that.

Well, since Spawn Wave (and I believe maybe others? Correct me if I'm wrong) always says there's another character other than Incineroar, I'm guessing:
Shantae, Sora, or Bandana Dee (mainly because I think he's got a really good shot).
If I were to guess one though, Shantae.

If this leak turns out to be fake(which I highly doubt it will due to it’s complexity)I think the ‘Other Character’ would be Skull Kid

Alright, I think the Smash talk is done. Here's what went down.

Notes from SpawnCast

• Surprisingly to fill in some guest gaps, Liam Robertson made an appearance. Felt weird having one info broker who got some things right with one that has a streak going on so far.
• That "wristband"? Reconfirmed that it isn't a wristband, it's an endcap.
• Spawn: "I don't get why this specific leak blew up. We've had leaks before and people just brushed it off."
• Spawn says the leak isn't correct - Not all of the characters are fake, some of them are real, but some are fake. Still strongly believes Incineroar is in the game, but remember that this isn't the main crux of Spawn's concerns.
• Nate severely doesn't believe it's real and knows characters that aren't on the banner. Nate: "Even if one character isn't in there, it's still considered fake." Multiple characters, though, by the way.
• Doesn't actually know if Banjo is in the game, feels 50/50. Hopes Isaac is in the game.
• "The internet wants Geno. The general public? Not so sure." - Spawn's general feelings on Geno, leak aside.
• The "banner" was on a 4chan leak in the end of September. Can't point out which one, though.
• There has now been so many conspiracy theories coming out now, they think it's so insane, especially the one with "getting paid by Nintendo". Spawn: "Hey yo, can we get paid for this?" lol
• Nate kinda spat some truth over everyone attacking insiders. It should go without saying, but this is seriously so stupid and sad. It shouldn't be said. It's insane how far this divide has gone. Please stop attacking people over ****ing video games.
• Liam Robertson thinks that a factor for Banjo not getting in is because "Nintendo is stubborn, conservative Japanese men and they'd bend to the white man and "muh pride"". I swear I am not ****ing joking.

Oh, and one more thing.

• Got asked about Sora @ The Game Awards. Weirdly enough moved from that ASAP from "What about Steve?"

The other VERY interesting point is that, they all totally seems to admit that.
Even with Incineroar. The Leak would be false nonetheless by Missing Characters.
However,they all seemed to agree that it did touch some truth.

Banjo, Geno and Chorus Kids seems to be the ones that make them raise eyebrows somehow

Another full day gone. Any new consensus? I don't even remember what pg I was last here for. This thread has been moving at light speed.

There have been some interesting developments that might sway the leak into being real if you choose to believe them.

But none of them are 100% conclusive (and one of them is just a comment on a 4chan thread which has no inherent believability).

It's not important compared to the loss of life; but, what, people are just not to discuss the possibility at any point?

Also, putting aside the Earthquake thing, Isaac being in the game is as important to some people as Ridley or K. Rool being in the game is to others.

As for me? Am I sad that Isaac's trailer might have been pulled from the August Direct? Sure, I'm only human. Do I consider it more important than the loss of life caused by the Earthquake? Absolutely not.

This is the last thing I'm going to say about it because I said I didn't want to debate this.

I'm not saying this about you, I don't think this about you, but speculation very quickly leads to hype. Thinking a reason your character might be in quickly excites you for the possibility. The new item that might be a GS item is a great example of this. So the thought of people speculating about Isaac's trailer getting pulled because of an earthquake, and that exciting them because of the possibility, is a ****ed up part of humanity that I don't want to talk about and treat as if it's normal and "ok".

I'd really rather move on with speculation than look back at tragic events (which I've seen this brought back up every other week). I'd rather talk about the Grinch leak, and I hate that leak.

I'm done responding to this, sorry I'm not trying to be rude or deflect, I just literally said I didn't want to debate.

I'm glad this leak has changed alot of expectations. A week ago it was Ken/Incineroar as locks but now everybody, even the insiders, are confused on who is coming. When the next direct starts with that first character trailer everybody gonna be on the edge of their seats like as close to the screen as possible.
Also I hope the trailer takes place in a generic place like the Greninja and Bowser Jr trailer so we don't know who the character is until the reveal

A leak like this changing expectations isn't necessarily a good thing. Before this leak, people were preparing themselves for only Ken, Incineroar, and if they were lucky, Geno or Sora as DLC.

I don't care how many times people deny it. Mark my words, this thread will become a giant vat of anger, frustration, and all kinds of pettiness if the next Direct rolls by and Incineroar is all we get.

Because that's what this is all turning into. People are attacking other people over their opinion on a video game rumor. The last thing these people want to do is put their face on that grindstone again, especially when they're semi-public figures and have just about everyone with a temper and a Twitter account hurling threats their way.

Maybe. But I feel like at this point pretending the leak doesn't exist is doing more to hurt their credibility in the long run than covering it and coming to the wrong conclusions. Also doesn't explain the laughably shallow one video they did on it.

If I had to guess (assuming most of these rumors, of varying quality, are true to some degree, which is a very bold assumption), my guess would be another echo. Mystic said one of their sources said there's 7 characters, 3 of which are echoes (another said there's only 3 total they know, hence the contradiction). The 7 lines up with the leak, but there's 2 echoes. But, it's a stretch, as I feel like one or more of these leaks/rumors have to be false/misleading.
