A leak like this changing expectations isn't necessarily a good thing. Before this leak, people were preparing themselves for only Ken, Incineroar, and if they were lucky, Geno or Sora as DLC.

Oh it definitely will. Dread it. Run from it. The salt arrives, all the same.

I've gotta admit, for me personally, Incineroar and Ken would be a bit of a letdown after the Grinch leak. That being said though, I know at least a few folks here who would be DELIGHTED to have Incineroar in, so because I think those folks are pretty darn amazing, I'm pumped if he gets in, even if I myself am not a big fan of the character.

I'm guessing nothing new? Last I checked was in my afternoon and saw that Emily Rogers also said the leak was fake.

Hell, it got to the point where some people were faking counter-evidence.

Well yeah it's gonna be chaos. But I'm mostly talking about the moment the before the first character is revealed. It's gonna be the most intense moment of this entire pre-game season.

This is the last thing I'm going to say about it because I said I didn't want to debate this.

I'm not saying this about you, I don't think this about you, but speculation very quickly leads to hype. Thinking a reason your character might be in quickly excite you for the possibility. The new item that might be a GS item is a great example of this. So the thought of people speculating about Isaac's trailer getting pulled because of an earthquake, and that exciting them because of the possibility, is a fuked up part of humanity that I don't want to talk about and treat as if it's normal and "ok".

I'd really rather move on with speculation than look back at tragic events (which I've seen this brought back up every other week). I'd rather talk about the Grinch leak, and I hate that leak.

I'm done responding to this, sorry I'm not trying to be rude or deflect, I just literally said I didn't want to debate.

It's fine.

Saying stuff along the lines of "Nintendo delaying the direct because of the trailer means Isaac's confirmed!" essentially being excited about the Earthquake, is absolutely ****ed up.

But the context of that 4chan post, if it's real, is just him stating matter of factly that there was an Isaac trailer that was pulled to be courteous to the Japanese people. If it's fake, he's using that tragedy to back up his claims.

One of them is fine, the other is not.

Anyway, I agree that we should drop the discussion.

Even if the leak is real, I'm sure Incineroar would get in somehow, but if it's not, Incineroar plus "some characters in the leak" kills the Box.

Box Theory can rest in hell with Music Theory

If I had to guess (assuming most of these rumors, of varying quality, are true to some degree, which is a very bold assumption), my guess would be another echo. Mystic said one of their sources said there's 7 characters, 3 of which are echoes (another said there's only 3 total they know, hence the contradiction). The 7 lines up with the leak, but there's 2 echoes. But, it's a stretch, as I feel like one or more of these leaks/rumors have to be false/misleading.

Ohhh, you are right. I forgot about that possibly three echoes thing. Well, that'd be hard to guess at what echo considering there's quite an amount they could make from some fighters. I've always thought of Louie over Olimar or Rosa over Bayonetta, but that's just the tip of the ice berg. XD

The other VERY interesting point is that, they all totally seems to admit that.
Even with Incineroar. The Leak would be false nonetheless by Missing Characters.
However,they all seemed to agree that it did touch some truth.

Yeah, but it's all based on outdated speculation. Unless they know stuff that we don't that they're not talking about, everything seems to line up with Microsoft being involved in some way. Sakurai also mentioned having to take risks by getting Nintendo on board with him. Might be referring to "everyone is here", which was the context of his quote--but it's hard to see how it was "risky" in that regard.

Texts are absurdly easy to fake. Just google "Text Message Generator" and you'll get hundreds of different ones for different models of phones.

So as someone who hasn't closely followed Spawn Wave, but knows that Liam is super unreliable and seemingly clueless overall, doesn't Spawn's bringing on of Liam hurt Spawn's credibility? Like if you're trying to be taken seriously, this is your guest of choice? Are you implying Liam is also just as much of an insider? It seems odd to me.

There's going to be one echo of a character in the last row and there's going to be at least one more newcomer. That seems pretty unbreakable.
The introduction of a new convincing leak doesn't refute the presence of a previous one.

Having Liam on doesn't hurt his credibility at all, he was in crossroads with some of his co-hosts going away at events, so he figured "Oh, Liam's a part of this whole Smash thing, might as well have him on I guess".

Box Theory will be dead or confirmed at the exact time this leak is fake or true. There's no way to call it now.

I'll be very surprised at this point if Steve? actually makes it in considering he's riding on nothing but Verge's shaky Minecraft claims and Banjo's running hot as the big Microsoft rep. Monster Hunter being majorly represented in the game without a fighter makes me think this will be the fate of Minecraft as well.

I don't think that's necessarily the implication--I don't think anybody in the leaked image is an echo besides Ken and Shadow (even Mach Rider doesn't make sense to me). Assuming the leak is true and Mystic is as well (both big assumptions), my guess is the person who knew about 7 only knew about six of the banner characters, and the seventh they know is an echo. Just trying to see where all of this may line up.

I'm signing off for today. Overall, no progress was made on determining whether or not this thing is real or fake.

We did however learn how to raise our blood pressure to record highs, so I guess today wasn't a total waste.

On one hand, it is /v/, and really anyone with a friend and a smartphone could easily fake this for an easy 15 minutes of fame.

On the other hand, unless some dumped NSFW images into the thread, it's odd the mods removed it. I guess it's because there's a thread discussing a tweet with very similar theme (insiders freaking out because Nintendo is threatening them over the Grinch).

You think that's the only reason, though? They seem to be pushing hard against Banjo (and reading the quote, it's kinda ridiculous so I'm not sure how much stock I should put in it, though trying to give the benefit of the doubt because I know I'm biased in this area).
