Honestly, I see Incineroar being the final rep as extremely unlikely. This is Smash Ultimate, and having such a (debatable) lame character (in comparison to what we got before) as the final unique newcomer very unlikely. It just comes off as a hype killer. I definitely see the banner leak as more likely, for what this game is.

Well, I don't think he has any real reason to lie in this scenario. So I believe his words are genuine.

Until now I think next direct will show 7s two new fighters, because the playlist for gameplay videos has been updated again (noted with 1 behind the playlist title) and I wish it will be very soon.
This discussion with "fake, not a fake" and so on is a little bit annoying to me. We will know the full cast of fighters when the game is out.

The playlist updated again? It's just about 10 days to the 7th. I wonder if they were supposed to reveal something last time it updated but chose not to and instead add it to the direct.

Immediately hate this for inferring the direct was changed for the earthquake and again putting speculation over the fact the direct was just delayed because human lives matter more than a game.

A little early to be talking about this considering we don’t know much about the story mode or the remaining fighters. If the story mode is good, I would give it probaly around a 9/10 but if it is bad, 8/10

I've seen comments today that were something like this: "Why would the leaker hide Eric's name badly and risk nobody getting the name from it? All their work done with the printing companies and LinkedIns, etc would have been for nothing."

And I think that could have an explanation. Imagine I am the original leaker. I go crazy with details, I have my master plan complete. I post the leak. I watch it unfold and enjoy looking at people freak out. Imagine a day passes by and nobody saw the name from the snapchat. Then I would post anonymously on 4chan, pretending to be a random anon, with something like "hey guys look what I discovered! You can read his name is Eric Bricard!".

We need to think on the possibility that the fake leaker might be just among us, overseeing us... Ocasionally giving us tips anonymously, or even trying to lead us away from the mistakes they made.

Since nobody ever wanted to discuss my Smash having dlc seasons like tekken and or sfv idea.. Ill just run with it and say how much you think a season would be worth? i mean usually they start out selling at 20 bucks (as a discount off getting the content seperate) so going off that id say... 7 characters per season assuming theres no stages? 5 if theres two stages in, and i dont think mii costumes or anything remotely similar will return so..

The Nintendo-is-silencing-the-press narrative is silly enough to warrant comment.

Making legal or press access threats would soft-confirm the leak and this would be very likely to get out.

While the most likely outcome is that Nintendo does nothing, it's still more plausible that Nintendo would discretely say "Hey, heads up, this is a problematic fake, and we'd suggest not reporting on it for your credibility." than arrange a giant conspiracy of mid-tier press outlets.

I slightly disagree here. It is true that just giving that information out to anybody with a significant enough media presence would be a bad idea. However, with people suggesting GameXplain has a contract to be allowed to cover Nintendo games on Youtube in the first place, it wouldn't be that far fetched to believe Nintendo would reach out to them (and anyone else with a similar contract) and more or less tell them how they should react.

Also remember, they made a ton of content related to Box Theory. The Grinch Leak features WAY more that could be spoken about than Box Theory ever had. On the other hand, they quickly tried to write off Grinch Leak with barely anything substantial to add to the conversation. This is of course the reason why people believe they are being directed by Nintendo in a way.

If this is fake, it's to make people think they wanted it covered. The story they want to convey is that a friend of Eric's stumbled upon this and poorly inked out his name to try to protect Eric.

This is assuming that Eric, or someone in his circle actually leaked it in the first place. Assuming Eric is really involved, he has to prove that he got friends involved (as the story was explained). Honestly, I'm not sure how he can do that if Snapchat was used, as his friends could outright deny involvement. As far as I'm concerned, he gets in trouble at the end of the day no matter what, since sharing the info with friends is breaking NDA. On top of this, Eric should have known this was confidential information to begin with since he allegedly had used some choice words about Nintendo in the video.

That said, if Eric is really not involved and someone is trying to frame him from the beginning (real or fake leak at this point doesn't matter), I hope his name is cleared and the real leaker gets some serious jail-time for what they have done.

I don't see why SpawnCast's words should mean anything. Anyone could jump on the bandwagon and say they have sources that have confirmed Incineroar.
Hell, my sources have told me that Shantae is planned for DLC, using Zelda's animations as a base, and there will be a new Zelda rep, but Skull Kid is just a boss.
There's nothing that can prove me wrong there, but at the same time, I have no bloody way to prove that I'm right, or that my "source" is right.

Yes, but remember that Incineroar isn't the crux of the whole thing. I don't see why people on this board are directly pointing that out to be the case when they're apparently multiple characters out there.

It's not just that, but he said he wasn't sure, as it could be true, but missing stuff. And when he gave reasons for why he thought it was fake, it was just speculation.

Alright, I think the Smash talk is done. Here's what went down.

Notes from SpawnCast

• Surprisingly to fill in some guest gaps, Liam Robertson made an appearance. Felt weird having one info broker who got some things right with one that has a streak going on so far.
• That "wristband"? Reconfirmed that it isn't a wristband, it's an endcap.
• Spawn: "I don't get why this specific leak blew up. We've had leaks before and people just brushed it off."
• Spawn says the leak isn't correct - Not all of the characters are fake, some of them are real, but some are fake. Still strongly believes Incineroar is in the game, but remember that this isn't the main crux of Spawn's concerns.
• Nate severely doesn't believe it's real and knows characters that aren't on the banner. Nate: "Even if one character isn't in there, it's still considered fake." Multiple characters, though, by the way.
• Doesn't actually know if Banjo is in the game, feels 50/50. Hopes Isaac is in the game.
• "The internet wants Geno. The general public? Not so sure." - Spawn's general feelings on Geno, leak aside.
• The "banner" was on a 4chan leak in the end of September. Can't point out which one, though.
• There has now been so many conspiracy theories coming out now, they think it's so insane, especially the one with "getting paid by Nintendo". Spawn: "Hey yo, can we get paid for this?" lol
• Nate kinda spat some truth over everyone attacking insiders. It should go without saying, but this is seriously so stupid and sad. It shouldn't be said. It's insane how far this divide has gone. Please stop attacking people over ****ing video games.
• Liam Robertson thinks that a factor for Banjo not getting in is because "Nintendo is stubborn, conservative Japanese men and they'd bend to the white man and "muh pride"". I swear I am not ****ing joking.

I think one KEY factor about him is that he doesnt make a living about this stuff, unlike the vast majority of "pseudo insiders" whos reputation basically depends on this sort of stuff hence he is very open about stuff. He even said he did this because he likes smash speculation so he has literally nothing to lose meanwhile some other yt channels or media cant afford to make Nintendo mad since their reputation is everything.

Nobody is atacking insiders, these guys needs to get off their high horse. People just noticed some strange behaviours, thats it, nobody is insulting them, calling them stuff. Its about why all of them are acting in the same way, end of discussion.
