I think that Isaac from Golden Sun at this point is basically guaranteed by Nintendo. Sure, there's been no explicit proof, but they keep dropping hints, like the mysterious item, and the picture of the people facing the dragon. all of these are ' it's either Isaac or coincidence " scenarios, but I believe the Nintendo knows what they're doing. They don't just throw in random items into thier trailers.

Tbh, I stopped keeping in touch with more than one support thread nowadays. People are getting, um, way too passionate while the release day is closing in.

That's quite a normal thing during every closing period towards release days, at least that was kind of also a thing during Smash 4 from what I recall.
Things might calm down a bit after the game has released (and DLC speculation starts...)

Then again, I haven't really been paying that much attention towards other support threads myself besides my own...

Honestly, the ESRB leak had a much more toxic atmosphere from what I remember. Even when the videos were leaked people were screaming “BRAWL MOD!!!”. So no idea if Gamexplain are actually avoiding it because it’s toxic or because they don’t wanna possibly jeopardize their ties with Nintendo (Which were way weaker back then).

Now that I think of it, Pokémon Trainer shouldn't have been limited to 3 Gen 1 pokémon. It would have been nice if, Charizard was kept but if Squirtle was changed with mudkip and Ivysaur was changed with Bayleef.
Mudkip -> Gen 3 - Somewhat popular pokémon from a meme
Bayleef -> Gen 2 - Not really popular but I suppose Ash owned one
Charizard -> Immensely popular Gen 1 Pokémon that Ash also owned in the anime. His other 2 Kanto starters did not evolve.

Maybe my arguments for Bayleef and Mudkip were kinda weak, but I think it'd work because you'd still have Charizard who is really popular, and it would made Brawl have Gen 1, 2, 3 and 4 representatives. I'd understand that Squirtle is popular, but Ivysaur has never even had that much attention until Brawl.

This doesn't solve Gen 5 I suppose, but Zoroak would be a nice addition since it's covers a new type (Dark)

Grovyle: Pokémon Mystery Dungeon 2 made him a very notable character. I imagine if this happened, Grovyle would be the one to make it to 4 and minorly overhauled to fit his PMD incarnation.

Yeah, someone came out with a couple pictures that lined up with it. This is a perfect example, though, of the differences between these two leaks. When I looked at this one, initially it felt off. But eventually I started convincing myself that I liked it--and I do, as it looks like an interesting modern retelling of them. And I got really convinced this might be true.

Whereas the Grinch leak, I took one look at Banjo and thought "that's it". And I had to eventually come down and start thinking more clearly and critically analyzing it--realizing it's a blurry photo and I may be reading too into it.

That doesn't mean it's real--but it means whoever made the Grinch leak knows these characters so well that they're able to capture minute details that bring out the essence of these characters.

In my opinion, yes we are. We've probably finally hit a stalemate in the leak. All that's left is wondering when that time for a direct will come (been hearing some people claim November 1st or November 8th as a potential date) so that it can either prove the leak's legitimacy or that is proves it as a very elaborate hoax.

I'm betting that this whole leak incident will force Nintendo's hand and make them release the Direct sooner rather than later. If the leak is real, there's no sense in sitting on the info anymore. If it turns out to be fake, it will likely make Nintendo anxious enough to get the information out there before a genuine leak shows up. They know the longer they wait the riskier this whole thing becomes.

I would've sympathized with the notion of dismissing insiders for granted if this was just a matter of Vergeben speaking out against it (who is pretty snide, not gonna lie) but a lot of information he gets enters the grapevine before he gets a hold of it, and since most of the people who are speaking out against this leak have spent most of Ultimate's lead-up being fairly quiet they don't really stand anything to gain from coming out and saying "eh, this doesn't seem right" in regards to the veracity of this whole shebang. If it was clout they were chasing, they would've come out and leaked the roster beforehand, but that's clearly not it. Besides; this roster as is proposed reads as the biggest fanboy dream ever, and many of these people with inside scoops are genuine Smash fans, so there's not really much in the way of ulterior motive to want to diffuse this if it weren't for the mere idea that this entire leak, from what we know, is a very unrealistic proposition.

If anything I feel it should be taken as a tacit admission that if this stuff doesn't turn out real you'll only have yourself to blame for overhyping it. The Smash fan base is one of the most dedicated bases online but it's simultaneously often incredibly irrational and vindictive. At this point the leak has spread so hard that a lot of people are undoubtedly going to be angry when this turns out not to be real, and I feel that's going to end up doing a disservice to the hard work and effort Sakurai and his team has poured into Ultimate.

It was acting on the videos that confirmed ESRB was real.
Of course a direct wouldnt be as obvious as a counter attack but still, it was by acting upon a leak that confirmed it, so they can simply idle this one out

Yoshimitsu would be an amazing assist character, tbh I would love for him to be a playable character but that’s a long shot.

Style Savvy would be a hilarious assist, I want to see how a fashion game gets incorporated into battle.

The only omission for me is no Poochy from the Yoshi series. He seems like the perfect assist character and he’s gotten increasingly more prominence in past few years.

Also who is “Nell”, and where are they from?

So I feel like whatever day we get the Direct will be the day the Direct was always supposed to air. Which sucks, because if this turns out to be fake, I think there are many fans who'll be (reasonably) disappointed. And I'm not thinking of us, who analyze these things and follow up on everything. I'm thinking of my friend, or a casual gamer who found this in their FB feed and just assumed it was a legitimate leak.

V has only himself to blame for not being informed that the Smash fanbase is snippy at times. Had he known otherwise, he wouldn't have touched it with a 39-and-a-half foot pole.

The only way I can feasibly imagine a fashion/beauty based moveset is if they implement the makeup gun. Anything else will leave me dissapointed.

Advance Wars. Nell in this roster replaces Infantry & Tanks with a more faithful representation to the series where she summons different units on the Battlefield.

And Nell being an AT sets up Andy as a future DLC choice I think with his series in the game. Or at least gives him a chance lol.

Sami would be a Snake Echo in my mind lol. Just switch the Grenades and C4's with her Machine Gun and Double Time.

Honestly, at this point I expect this type of **** with Sonic fans, so to that person that may as well be the case.

What “type of ****?” If you look at my comment you’ll notice that I never even said that, it just sounded like you were saying It was only considered good because it was better than previous entries rather than just being a genuinely solid game on its own. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

And sure, Sonic fans and only Sonic fans are ****, but being a Sonic fan and having to sit through the franchise being **** on for years following 06, and then having influential YouTubers like Game Grumps and IGN in recent years crap on the franchise with “Sonic was never good” to try to invalidate the Classics kinda sours the ol’ enthusiasm and outlook on things. That’s especially hard when you were a kid that grew up with the franchise since the Classics and you’re favorite game franchise wasn’t treated like a meme.

Right, but is it really wise to ignore the leak and then confirm it several weeks later? The longer they wait, the more this leak spreads, and the more it spreads, the less exciting the eventual confirmation will be. Hype is what drives every new Smash release, and the best way to keep hype level high is to surprise people. Wait too long and people won't be surprised anymore.
