Part of me feels it's real but I'm trying to hold on and not get too hyped up about it. When we got the leaked final roster for 3DS before the DLC were announced many people were holding onto Mewtwo, Lucas, Ice Climbers, Wolf, etc.

And the salt was HIGH when it became real

For the first time an Ultimate's speculation cycle, my gut says this leak real. I know that probably doesn't actually mean anything, but this is the first time I'm actually struggling to keep my expectations low. I'm starting to get hyped for these characters. I haven't even played any of there games aside from a little bit of Golden Sun but that would still be such a killer line up of newcomers if true, and there's actually enough evidence behind it that it could be.

It's going to be hard for me to tamper my expectations from here on out, but I promise you that if it turns out to ne fake I won't whine.

This is another reason why I doubt the leak, but I know it probably won't effect many people's opinions on the matter.

Let's be honest, most of us have already made up our minds by now. Either you think the leak is real because there's so many small details about the image and original poster that make it seem unlikely to be fake, or you think the leak is fake because a lot of reliable sources are making contradicting comments and hints like these.

Or you're me and many others who STILL don't know what to think about it.

The Jon comment is pretty noteworthy to me. That along with the rest makes me wary, but there are a lot of small details on this leak that I can't ignore.

This fence i'm on is pretty comfy, I'll probably stay here until the November direct.

the way I see it, the only bombshell debunking this can get is if one of these """"insiders""""" does a "counter-leak" and provides an equally significant leak that disproves the grinch leak by showing something completely different.

...but like, to what extent will a man go just to show everyone that all of these fan-favorite characters aren't in and we're getting a ****ing pokemon instead.

The Chadnondorf leak?

It's been posted here a couple times already. I'm not on my phone anymore, but just check my first post today, it's on there. Check the date of that post, it says September like 19 or something. It's the one that says Tabuu and etc... return as bosses, confirms there are no new pokemon, and 100% confirms the 7 characters from the Grinch leak, well over a month before these images circulated. Meaning someone else saw that same leak (probably the video) a month before any of us did in order to make that 4chan post.

That and the guy who suposivly leaked cloud said there’s a leak last month that ruffled some feathers of the company

This fits the bill since it’s in the timezone

I’m am assuming fake for overhype purposes but I’m leaning toward real at the same time

What is gonna suck is that, if this is fake, I am going to feel disappointed without these characters having now seen them in that banner. For those brief moments where I was very sure it was real, it got me even more hyped. Now that skepticism and pessimism are creeping in, I am saddened that Mach Rider and company might not actually be a thing.

Honestly, Nintendo has probably been sending fake and old information out to cover tracks and what not.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of these people have fake information even if it doesn't pertain to the current situation at hand.

So far none of them have said anything that's definite that should make anyone be on either side of the road.

Just stay in the middle of the street with the rest of Team Hmm and potentially get run over by the madness when both teams start flipping out and driving their cars at one another.

I respect but don't actively watch your videos so I wouldn't be aware of how your thumbnails work. However I mean, a random person scrolling by wouldn't be familiar with your thumbnails, no?

Just changing it now and learning for the future is really all I'd be concerned about. Didn't mean to attack you, I just understand a lot of people have been spoiled due to thumbnails.

Its cool, I didnt take it as an attack just thought I should express how i felt about it and why I did it and didn't think it was a "spoiler". At this point however with the leak lasting all day and only gaining credibility I will be responsible with this leak and fix that.

I've lived through a lot of Ridley 'leaks', so I naturally doubt these sorts of leaks...

That said, this one would go down in the record books for one of the greatest fake leaks ever if it ends up not being real.

And low key would love watching the lame 'insiders' have to backpedal and eat a good ol' healthy portion of crow.

SourceGaming brought up a good point that two third-parties from different companies have not been revealed in the same presentation as to not have one company steal thunder from the other.

Who said they'd be revealed in the same presentation?

(I know I've speculated along those lines, but it is an assumption nonetheless)

Also, I'm pretty sure Simon's reveal stole Rathalos' thunder. One's a character and one's an assist, but to companies (and to Sakurai) they have a semi-equal importance in terms of representation.

I think Verge just stopped talking about Smash altogether. Wasn't some of his final messages that he was tired of answering to the Smash community?

To be honest, Verge would probably just be smart to go elsewhere under a new name if he ever does decide to pop up again. Regardless if this leak turns out real or fake.

I've seen the 4chan post, what I meant to ask for was a source for the Snapchat video to have existed since a month ago.

edit: I understand your reasoning but it assumes that the video was used as reference to make the 4chan post when it could have been the other way around.

If my math is right, if we assume for just a moment this leak is real, .that means the roster has 79 characters counting the echoes, which is both an insane amount of characters for Smash, but also a really weird number to end on. I guess if you ignore the mii fighters it goes to 78 which is a less weird number.

As for whether the leak is real, I dont know. 44 days and we will be able to for sure verify or disregard it.

Until one of these insiders actually posts something of substance that can debunk the images, and it isn't just 'it's blurry so you can't be sure', 'people can edit these easily you know', or 'but that's more than what we thought we were getting!', all of them are talking out of their ass. For real. Until they actually back up their claims, I don't care what they have to say.

Let's try to accept. The leak is just too solid to be fake.
The guy was traced and work with something related to Bandai Namco. Also, the other 4chan leak that says the exactly same from the figure. Gematsu is also a evidence, since with Chorus Kids inclusion, he was right about every single choice, but Sakurai delayed some characters to Ultimate.
It's just... I'm also not completely happy about it since I couldn't care less about Mach Rider, but at least we got Geno and Isaac.
This means that Dixie is the UNIQUE character that is a giant request from a long time and is missing. The 4chan leak she was cut, what probably was done because they chose K.Rool. I'd bet that Sakurai would already insert a new Dk character, Dixie, but K.Rool was so big in the ballot that he dropped her and picked K.Rool.

I only wish that Dixie appears as DLC. Maybe he thought people would riot with 2 Dk newcomers and could not made her a echo fighter... Now it's time to wait for DLC speculation and this leak be 100% confirmed in the next direct.

While I do kinda believe this leak, I’m just waiting on any damning evidence or confirmation.
Also, this is the first time I’ve heard of the 4Chan leak.
Can someone point me to that?

Thing is, who's to say we know these characters will all be shown in a single direct?

Obviously we're running out of time for them to space these guys out, but still. Maybe they'll space them out till "One new reveal a week until launch" After revealing some in the regular direct as a sort of countdown, we don't know that.

That also didn't stop them from throwing in Mii Costumes from different companies one after the other, assist trophies from other companies, etc. Not the same as a fighter, sure, but I don't really see how this stops them.

I'm taking a wait and see approach. There is a lot of things going for it due to the circumstances of the snapchat images around it such as the guy actually being an existing worker for Bamco, the Grinch, the banner not having any obvious flaws (at least so far), and the attention to detail in all areas. However, we also have all of the insiders, whom from what we've seen do know something about this game, all be either pretty skittish in supporting it, or outright denying. It's a really strange scenario where the evidence seems to fit, but the jury won't make the verdict, a case not helped since the latter has knowledge of other evidence that's being withheld.

It definitely will be interesting to see how this evolves, I would be happy if this was real though with this since everything about it is positive to me (Banjo? Mach Rider as a cool Retro Rep? MH and Dixie considered as characters? I'll take it!).

I mean Fedex delivers to use all the time... so we work with them... I work in the truck yard and we have 3+ Fedex trucks a day deliver to us.. so is that a rival? Anyway. I feel your pain about peak season. I've been on a forklift everyday of my shift for 11 hours already and it's the beginning of peak..
