She's cool. I love how brutal the Metroid villains are, with the way they move and such. Plus she floats.

The King just droppin in with a great moveset and an amazing theme. Stellar. Wonderful.

Of course it would be the Marth clone, and I couldn't blame em. It would almost be laughable at that point.

But seriously, I hope that's not a trend that continues with the FE cast. "Ehh... not sure if we have enough time to make them unique, so we'll just make (insert FE character) a clone. It makes sense. Kinda."

I've been forcing myself to play through Revelations this week after all the Fire Emblem talk on this forum (I bought it day one but never actually played it; I want my money's worth) and I have to disagree that the treatment of Alm and Corrin are truly comparable.

Corrin is the definition of a sue/stu in a videogame. She is given everything. By everyone. With absolutely nothing done previously to have earned whatever's being given, whether that's trust, companionship, or the ****ing Yato that appears out of nowhere after she just about killed everyone and flings itself into her open hand. She has the complete and utter devotion of everyone not named Takumi despite being alone in a tower doing nothing for her entire life, and is even deferred to in every major decision and strategy by all the people who have so much more experience than she does. Corrin isn't so much a part of the plot as the sole figure around whom the entire plot accommodates.

Revelations feels even worse in that department than I remember. Now Corrin is taking the childish standpoint of "I won't side with either army and everything will work out" and people are still lining up to follow her by chapter nine. The fact that Corrin faces, like, no legitimate consequences for her terrible naivete-- and that the only canonical deaths are results of someone else being bad and just not hopping on the Corrin love train-- makes her so much worse than Alm as a sue/stu. IMO.

She's fun to play in Smash, though.

And despite being a figurehead leader, none of the logistics or anything are addressed-- Alm's just handed leadership of the Deliverance on a silver platter, which causes Fernand to out himself as an irrational idiot.

The difference is Corrin has flaws but isn't allowed to develop, while Alm has no flaws and therefore no room to develop.

Oh hi Fernand and Berkut! The former of whom gave up fighting for what he stood for and killed all of his personal morals due to Alm, and the latter... wait a second, gave up fighting for what he stood for and killed all of his personal morals (including the trinket that he ranted to) due to Alm.

Also, Alm being a noble makes the entire noble vs commoners theme a moot point; the person destined to save the continent is of noble blood. A more direct part of the plot than Corrin being able to marry their adoptive siblings.

Honestly, this is why I wish Echoes were just premium alts; it removes the psychology of them being full-blown characters, and would allow for far broader representation in the FE department.
