Not going to Say it's a shoo-in, but Dragon Quest XI won best game in Japan when it was released. Was nominated for best game on PS4. And won best jRPG on Playstation in 2018.

And it's still coming to Switch. Branded Dragon Quest XI "S" (short for "special" ... Like how Super Smash Bros Ultimate is named instead in Japan).

So... I'm 65% sure Dragon Quest will somehow be included. Not to mention it's a HUGE elephant in the room, as far as 3rd party characters is concerned in Japan.

Just felt like sharing this for some reason.

Dragon Quest has a top of IP holders to go through to get all kinds of content in Smash alone.

It doesn't mean much.

Though I'd love to have a playable Slime, really.

well, no, not so much opinions can be BAD, even Unironic Goku for Smash fans arent malicious, and they do have sound reasonings. It's just theyre a bit uninformed on what makes Smash Bros what it is is all. Course i got banned for shrekposting over the Goku Question so... Not the best person to say this

Don't mean to rag on the quality of the remix sample last week, considering I do like said take on ID purpose and glad it got said treatment, but I do hope tonight's upload isn't as disappointing.

I also wonder why they waited until now to start uploading arrangements from a series that already had one.

- The next trailer starts with the DQ theme song. A shot of the sky as it pans down to [insert your favorite DQ character here]
- A menu comes up. The cursor selects party talk
- Geno and Chrono are party members
- Sakurai's like "lol i know I said I'd slow down but y'all are still gullible"

Add to this
-Trailer start with Smash Bros Ultimate x Square Enix
-We get Geno
-We get the DQ rep
-We get Chrono
-Seemingly the end
-X Disney added next to the xSquare Enix
-We get Sora
- "Ahahah, You said less Fire Emblem Characters, not less Animu Swordman you western piggu."

No genuinely, the Square-Enix part of the game, can only be the most hype left, whenever it's Geno or whoever else

I lowkey really want a Slime assist trophy that doesn't do anything in particular, still killable for +1 score, but occasionally spawns various metal slimes for an even higher point worth per kill

On October 16th, the Facebook page for the Montreal-based "barcade", Arcade MTL, posted a countdown page depicting a Nintendo Switch event for a secret game that not even the bar's owners were allowed to know about. Some fans speculated that this might be a viewing party set-up for a possible upcoming Smash Bros. Direct coming on Thursday the 18th of October. So far, only Nintendo of Canada have any info on this mystery event as Nintendo of America have yet to comment on it.

An opinion's popularity or unpopularity has nothing to do with the quality of the opinion, and vice versa. If you have a problem with a specific opinion, I'd invite you to take it up with the "What's the most ridiculous Smash argument you've ever heard" thread.

Dragon Quest being a more logical choice for representation kills my Crono for Smash high

I hate the idea of a character I like killing another character I like's chances.
Crono was my very first character suggestion for smash ever. And he's the coolest looking VG character for me to this very day.
I would lose my mind if we got Crono!

I mean...If we go by prize won, then Sora is in since ever since KHII is released, KHIII is in most demanded/ Anticipated game in Famitsu even before it's true announcement lmao.

Yes, Spawn Wave says it about them hearing stuff about DLC being announced at the VGA

Well I do check those Famitsu's most wanted. And usually DQ tops the charts. Now it's gone down (Switch port since that's the one coming now) at about 12-15 I think. Not sure about kh but last time I checked, it was now FFVII remake leading the chart. But as off the kh3 trailer I believe you that it might be leading the charts now. Haven't checked this month.

As for who i'd like:
Eight, Hero(1), Erdrick(3), Luninary (11), Hero(6), and Solo(4) would be all tied for most wanted.

The other protagonists at 2nd.

The sidekicks+villains 3rd

And Monsters at 4th place.

I'd personally be excited for Geno, Crono, Neku, a DQ rep, Sora, or even a combination of them. All would be hype in different ways, and can appeal to gamers of different ages depending on who made the cut.

Musically, DQ probably suffers the most in terms of variety, as Sugiyama would probably ask a lot of money for his songs to be put into Smash similarly to Uematsu, and TWEWY music concerns me a bit because the vocals probably would have to be cut out if put into Smash (considering Bayonetta and MGS tracks only having instrumentals, for example), which would honestly gut any of the songs that would make it in.

Geno, Crono and Sora probably have the best chance of bringing a varied song lineup of both originals and remixes if they make it into Ultimate. Either way though, I'll just be happy with whoever we can get, whether they made it as base or as DLC.
