It's still a bit suspicious, he said that he doesn't even know what type of leak it is, he suspects it's a picture but he's not sure.
I mean, he has never seen any picture; in that case, he knows of the leak only by words, right?
If he knows it by words, the person who told him about the leak would have either:
-said the name of the character
or
-say no names.
In case he heard of the name of the character, he shouldn't have any doubt about it, unless the source is not reliable, and in that case you can't exclude Ken because it can still be.
In case they never told him the name, it can still be Ken, unless they said him "a leak is real but is not the Ken one", which is extremely unlikely.

So this situation is a bit strange...
Maybe he knows the name but simply doesn't want to tell it to avoid getting in trouble, or it's all fake, IMO.

I am inclined to believe him a bit because we have a case where someone doesn't want to name a character to be wrong.

The example is Vergeben. Though in his case, he has a ton of names about the SE rep that are being thrown around.

IDK this is a really weird situation if it is true. We just have to wait and see.

I think Elma is more likely than people think. Xenoblade is a growing IP, and I think Elma would be a good pick a as a new Xenoblade rep, as Xenoblade to me is very likely to get a newcomer. Plus the Mech Bot Sakuari uses for modeling could be used for Elma's Mech. Keyword being could.

Ask for DQ rep, well simply put it might be the most logical choice for a SE rep. DQ is HUGE in Japan. It's like the holy grail of JPRGS over there, so I wouldn't be suprised if Saks adds a DQ protagonist in Smash.

Was Xenoblade a growing series in 2015 though? The series future was pretty uncertain, was it not?
Consider how the mech could also be for Geno with his gun.

Also, I feel you're very much underestimating Geno's popularity. Sakurai could add DQ for business, sure, but...with Ultimate, the game aimed for long-time fans, do you think he'd go that route instead of adding Geno?

Because I think Steve's aesthetic and physiology wouldn't mesh well with Smash. Some fanservicey anime-looking chick and all the restrictions an E10 game would put upon her wouldn't clash that much from an aesthetic integration perspective.

Oh wait, for real? Okay, in that case, we are definitely getting another Square character. Vergeben across the board when you look at not just Smash has been severely hit and miss (especially with those god awful MVCI rebranding fake rumours they've said), but Spawn Wave's sources have been absolutely ridiculous and on point everytime. I'm kind of more in line to believe Spawn Wave on this front.

And honestly good for him, as direct as he may be with just getting news out which maybe boring to some, he definitely does deserve the attention for getting stuff out that is 100% truth.

Not then no, but X was a big landmark for the Wii U, so it wouldn't surprise me if Ultimate included Elma. And yes, the mech could be used for someone else, but aside from Mach Rider, I don't know who else it could be for.

The second SE rep I think is either going to Geno or a DQ rep, but I'm leaning towards the latter simply because of massively successful DQ is. Just don't be surprised if a DQ character get in is all I'm saying.

2015 was when the roster plan was decided is the thing.
As I said you're focusing too much on the mech itself and not its components such as the handgun.

I think a good question will be is how much will licensing Super Mario RPG music cost? IIRC, Yoko Shimomura was the composer for that entire game, and she has been putting in work for Smash Ultimate, so I don't think Mario RPG music should be a problem when Geno get's in.
