An obvious and boring choice for Echo, her extreme similarities to Pacman make her much more suitable for costume I’d say. Give me KOS-MOS.

So, like Alph or the Koopalings? That works too. Perhaps her not being created by Namco would be a little bit awkward, but it shouldn't mean a lot in the long run.

You know, at this point, I almost completely think that Mrs. Pac-Man still has a legitimate shot at getting in still. She barely appears on Pac-Maze at all, and when she does, she only does as a background character that does nothing at all. Not saying she's confirmed, but she definitely would be one of the easiest echoes in existence to add.

Yeah, from what I understand every Echo fighter has to look distinct from their parent (and no Lucina is not exempt from this rule). The fact that certain fighters are losing costumes as a result only pushes this along. It’s the same reason I think Ninten should only be a costume, he and Mrs. Pacman don’t look distinguisable enough.

How would you guys feel if we got a playable fighter exclusive to Smash Bro's that was entirely original, acting as the series "mascot" of sorts?

I've actually considered this exact idea multiple times throughout speculation.

I would totally be fine with this happening, as long as I get an idea of the character's personality in the game.

I think it's kind of difficult to develop a character in game like Ultimate, unless "Spirits" is some sort of story that's somewhat centered around that character and their interactions with the rest of the cast.

I never got attached to Tabuu because he was introduced late in Subspace and I had very little to go off of in terms of his personality besides "he's powerful" and "he's evil".

If Ultimate can pull it off correctly, I would be ecstatic for a playable original character, because it's something that almost no one would see coming.

Bought it on the Wii's shop, and I loved the game ever since. Too bad the franchise is pretty much dead at this point.

This is how most Incineroar support is formed.


First you start with the Owl because "It's cooler"


And then Incineroar grows on you over time.

I mean, IMO Decidueye is cooler, it's just that Incineroar is freezer pretty charming and fun. I like them both

This is why the game was rated at late August, meaning the full game was already finished by then (because rating an unfinished game just makes no sense).

The extra three or so months are purely for polish (and possibly the planning stages of DLC too)

If they just wanted to rush things out and release the game ASAP, we'd already be playing it right now.

This is an entirely different case.

Smash 4 was two games designed at once within the same development time. The Wii U version only had two extra months to work out the kinks.

Ultimate is a single game in a single console which was confirmed to reuse many assets from Smash 4 to save on development time.

It could be buggy, but I doubt it'll be anywhere near what Smash 4's launch was.
