Official Smash Ultimate Discussion

Almost one month has passed since release. In retrospect....

  • This is by far the best Smash ever. Like, I don't even know how they will top this.

  • Pretty freakin' good; I have a few qualms over things like internet play, balancing issues, etc.

  • It's ok, but [insert Smash game here] is better.

  • I'd rather play Parcheesi.

Although I love taking the piss on theories, it's sad how many people outside of Smashboards still put stock in Loz and the chairs. I get messaged all the time about "Chairs isn't dead! Loz can still be right!" on Reddit all the time.
I swear Loz openly came out that he was trolling.

Putting stock in the chairs ain't anymore sad than putting stock in the box but hey... that's part of speculation

Watching Toon Link vs. Bayo really makes me want to go back to playing more Tink like I did in Brawl. I'm just really bad at projectile management.

I don't have the footage, but I played a match on green greens and it removed all the blocks and the wind. It was a completely viable stage.
So that's confirmation of what was mostly a rumor. GGs without hazards has no blocks and no wind (and presumably no fruit spawns either). That's going to be a really interesting stage. I kinda fear the potential camping of the side platforms still, but definitely that's the configuration that gives GGs the most potential to be legal for sure so that's good news.

There are a handful of other stages we've never seen, but they're relatively less interesting. We've never seen Mario Galaxy without hazards, but it seems likely it's just the same since nothing on the stage really moves or does anything in the first place. We've never seen Onett or New Pork City, but it's relatively easy to guess how both play without hazards and neither has a real chance to be legal either way. Otherwise, we were just hoping for a second match on Tortimer Island to see if it has the same lay-out as the only hazards off match we have on it (that had a very symmetrical lay-out) or if the lay-out is still random and the really regular lay-out we got was just coincidence. This is probably irrelevant to whether Tortimer Island itself is legal (whether the water is okay or not is the question for it, the lay-outs are tame regardless), but assuming consistency, it has implications for Gamer and Mario Maker if hazards off is one static known good lay-out.

One thing I did notice in the recent footage that I didn't before is that Lylat Cruise, upon loading a new area, just repeatedly loads the empty space background with hazards off. This isn't gameplay relevant since the tilting is gone either way, but it's a thing that is different!

I should update the stage hazard toggle in the pre-release build section with both tidbits we have.

That's what an echo fighter is, character with the same moves (with some moves placed to fit their moveset) but with different properties eg Weight
Do any of the echoes we have now have a weight difference? Height yeah, but weight not sure about (:ultdarkpit: definitely has everything body wise being just like :ultpit:, but the likes of :ultlucina::ultdaisy::ultchrom::ultrichter: who knows)

Well maybe :ultdarksamus: but outside of the floatiness for “her/it” the others don’t seem to have much of a weight difference

Only thing about Incineroar to me personally is that it wouldn't relate to what Sakurai said about basing the newcomers this time around mainly off the ballot.

Cause when it was going on, he wasn't even revealed to the world at that point.

Sure people could make the Greninja argument in regards to how the Heel Pokemon could make it in.

Just like the trend we have so far in making unique newcomers for franchises that don't have much or for completely new IPs in general.

He didn't, he got caught lying on Mimiques server. He then closed all of his accounts because people badgered him. So yes, he is a troll, but not because he decided to come out and say it. He messed up

Pokemon is probably the exception.
Let's face it, Pokemon gets special treatment.

Someone analyzed the game footage for Dark Samus and found that she fell at the exact same speed as normal Samus.

The floaty comment on the blog then, can be inferred to just be flavor text referencing her different animations.

With our current information, all echoes retain the same physical stats. (Except Lucina who is a juuuuuust shy of Marth's height)

Can't help but doubt Simon and Isabelle as being Ballot frontrunners.
It's Pokemon. It's gonna get a newcomer. That's just a fact of life.

I would think that the only stage effected by randomized layouts (that has a chance) would be Gamer.

Pokemon has gotten a newcomer in EVERY Smash game, sometimes even two.

Not even Mario can say the same unless you lump Diddy and Wario in with Mario for Brawl.

Pokemon is THE exception to the rule

as is Fire Emblem
