Official Smash Ultimate Discussion

Almost one month has passed since release. In retrospect....

  • This is by far the best Smash ever. Like, I don't even know how they will top this.

  • Pretty freakin' good; I have a few qualms over things like internet play, balancing issues, etc.

  • It's ok, but [insert Smash game here] is better.

  • I'd rather play Parcheesi.

I certainly agree that Heihachi would take precedence if one were ranking Bandai-Namco characters by importance, Tekken being what it is... However, might I inquire as to why you consider Lloyd and Soulcalibur characters more likely?

(Also, I converted the write-up back to Arial for you. Sorry about that.)
Eh, I think the "3D fighter" genre hasn't been quite covered yet and Nightmare/Heihachi would probably be Sakurai's first pick regarding that.

However, I do think Kos-mos has just as much, if not more "power" than a Tales of character.

Because Lloyd is still prominent and highly-regarded today, even by their own company as indicated by the Mii costume. He also has a rich history with Nintendo.
Soulcalibur I feel is running with KOS-MOS. I'm sure KOS-MOS would inch out but I doubt we'd get to that point.

Power on a Namco Bandai franchise?

Digimon lose only to Pac-man and Tamagotchi on earnings.
2 Bilion and counting.

Thats some power for you.

Goku is not more popular than other characters in Drabon Ball, like Vegeta.
But you will never put Vegeta first and not Goku in a game.

Thats the problem.
Agumon is the mascot. He is the Face.
Omegamon is a evolution that Agumon can reach.
Greymon is the mascot. Not Agumon.

Yeah.
So maybe the fact that in the 90s Pokémon was gigantic , and Digimon was the only "rival" on that?
Digimon lost. But this was a true part of the story of Pokémon.
...but that's...not the point they were arguing.
I mean this as gently as possible, but Digimon is not inherently related to every Namco discussion for Smash.
They were just discussing KOS-MOS and Tales Of.

And then Yu-Gi-Oh kicked Pokemon and Digimon's ass before 4Kids got Thanos'd.

Hmm... That is just my reaction for today.
And then Yu-Gi-Oh kicked Pokemon and Digimon's *** before 4Kids got Thanos'd.
I am kind of glad 4Kids is gone, because those censorships were honestly horrible.

Whatever happened to that ProtoMail leak or whatever it was called? Didn't people find that somewhat true or something? Or am I just misremembering and it was just another text leak people dismissed.

Not exactly.

Omnimon has more of a "perfect attendance" record throughout Digimon media nowadays than Agumon itself.
And is arguably THE MOST popular Digimon all time.

It's not the same as Vegito, since not every Omnimon is related to Agumon and is rather judged on its OWN status.
I didn't know he had forms that didn't require Agumon. But I still think Agumon might work a bit better.

Still I don't think Digimon even got much support in Smash or anything, less so than Tales of or Tekken.

But was it incorrect?
Does that even matter?

I'm an autistic nerd with no friends, and I'll be the first one to tell you that, but it'd still be rude to say that about me. Yes, that's a far more extreme example and calling someone a fanboy isn't nearly that bad but the point is still the same.

Can we move on now?

Yeah, I remember rooting for them and Mimikyu because Incineroar seemed unlikely and I didn't want Decidueye as the Gen 7 Rep.
But with Tony the Tiger looking much more likely, I kinda shrugged off Lycanroc, because I really didn't need him anymore. But yeah, they're still pretty likely.
Yeah, but I’m still rooting for them. It feels a little weird when everything seems stacked against a character, yet there is still a lot supporting that character. That’s basically where I am, and they’re the ones that I invested the most. There’s a certain drawback to investing a lot in a charcater though, but I hope it turns out well. (In my case that is).

I remember making an analysis pre-E3 on all the possible Gen 7 Pokémon, and I put Incineroar and Lycanroc as the most likely based on what I gathered. And... turns out it seems that they’re the ones going head to head (sorry Decidueye). A little scary to think about when at the time, Incineroar wasn’t the hottest topic.

Talking about anime? Is anyone going to comment of one of the biggest "leakers" we talk about is appearently a Bakemonogatari fan?

And thats a big problem.

You know why people don't support Agumon in Smash?
Becouse people don't even know that Agumon was born in games.
They don't even think Digimon have a chance.

Becouse Digimon is VERY popular.
Just remember how much of a Noise Digimon Adventure Tri did when it was revealed for the first time.
The Nostalgia hits super hard for Digimon.
